how do you play on high refresh rate monitors and stream with a capture card without your monitors getting locked to 60hz or your full screen games getting effected by the cloning process

Heads up: can you see 2-5ms, no, not visually, but you can definitely feel it with a mouse (input lag)

What i did on my Alienware AW2721D is this> i keep native resolution of 1440p and 240hz for games like destiny 2 , division 2, editing and movies and i created a custom resolution of 2305 x 1296, 240hz with the "perform scaling option in Nvidia panel on : Display" which recreates a similar to the native 1440p but on a 24.5' total size instead of the native 27'' to sweat on games like PUBG, Cod and Battlefield with a wayyyy better/snapy reaction input lag since it renders essentially in lower than native resolution and providing me with that perfect peripheral vision of 24".

I'm changing from 27" 1440p 144hz to a 24.5" 1080p 360hz monitor for my gaming- I think i'm going to keep the 1440 on as my secondary monitor and sell my 1080p secondary one so I still can have nice visual quality for watching videos and stuff, but as I'm getting more and more into competitive FPS, I'm realizing I don't really feel the need to have my games look great...especially because I don't really play games like elden ring and the witcher where those impressive graphics come into play.

I play on a 1080p 280hz for competitive gaming but when i play more casual games i play on the 1440p 144hz. Both 27" i would like to try a 1440p 280hz but they still $700+

I went from 1440p144hz to 1080p240hz then back to 1440p144hz then to 4k120hz then back to 1440p but this time it's 240hz(270hz oc). The cycle never ends!

If you're playing FPS there is more difference in the screen size than 360 vs 240hz. Unless you sit far enough from the table the 27" is definitely worse. If it was a 25" 1440p 240hz, then the 1440p would be better.

1440p 240hz 27" > 1080p 360hz 25" any day all day. Coming from 1080p 240hz 25", never going back. 1440p is so much more clear. Visually, it's worth it.

360hz is for people who are competitive. 1440p is for people who love graphics and still get some smooth gameplay depending on your graphics card. Rtx 2080 and above should be good for 2k and 3080 should be good for 4k

1440 compared to 1080 is night and day different and it's as eye opening as going from 60hz to 144hz. 1440p @ 240 is more than anyone needs. the ONLY downside is trying to be locked at 240 fps, which isn't yet going to happen unless you're on specific titles with your settings dumped in the trash. i have a 3090 and i suppose i could get 1440p to run at a constant 240, but i keep my settings on ultra and i play 3840 x 1600
in the end, 1080p is dying. the new GPUs don't even cater to 1080p and the gains over the 2000 series are minimal at best. the next gen will be even less of a benefit to 1080p, so if you're getting a 360hz monitor and thinking you'll get the frames locked that high going forward with new GPU releases, you're mistaken.

Didnt expect you change to 1440p 240Hz from 360hz 1080p. It was also time to change from 1080p 144Hz to 1440p 240Hz. Changing from 144Hz to 240Hz makes the decision more easy.

1440p is definitely the sweet spot.

Valorant easily runs at high fps even at 4k, easily, 360 fps, same with fortnite at comp settings.

I'm sure the 360hz is a a little bit smoother but at this point 2k is much better for detail. 165hz already felt good, 240hz felt just right for me.
