ОтветитьHi, dear respected friends and teachers. There is a grammatical issue that always poses an obstacle for me during writings. I would like to ask it here to get an insight from you. So, there is a sentence which includes two groups of the subject. And I need to combine these two categories/groups into one sentence.
First category: George whose father is a teacher always studies lesson. (George always studies lessons, NOT his father)
Second category: His (George's) friends always play football.
This sentence is quite simple and true: "George's friends always play football." However, the problem arises when I wanted to put the sub-criteria/features/characteristics of George (his father is a teacher, he always studies lesson).
To me, the sentence came out as: "George whose father is a teacher always studies lesson who his friends always play football." Of course, this is a very absurd and meaningless sentence. So, if I combine these two categories into one sentence by setting George as a main subject, a main actor, how that sentence can be created? I want to create it in a smooth flow without using "while, whereas", etc. Just like this sentence: "George's friends always play football." I want to define the features/characteristics of each group and create subject-action form. May you kindly help me to find out how to set this sentence into one sentence form, please? I would appreciate it if you could help on this matter. Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
thank you!!

ОтветитьThank you BBC for this wonderful video. I have a query :
1. Many children do manual work due to poverty.
2. Many children do unpaid work due to poverty.
3. Meaning children do paid work due to poverty.
My teacher marked first and second one as correct but the third one as wrong. But he didn't explain why.
Why is it wrong?
Could you please explain?

ОтветитьThank you, BBC. 💚
ОтветитьThis is an American or English accent.
ОтветитьThree basic differences between present simple and present continuous:
1. We use present continuous only in the case of triggering attention . Look! Catherine is wearing a sexy high heel.
2. Present continuous can replace future "going to" in speaking about arranged actions in the future. "Tom has booked the ticket. He is travelling next week"
3. We use present simple only with stative verbs. " John likes fish but Mark adores shrimps".
