So what if you don't have a Wordpress site and cannot install the SSL plugin?

The process is well displayed, but the preview is kinda misleading. CloudFlare provides their own UniversalSSL certificate as long as you use their nameservers and have proxy enabled. The certificate itself is issued for 1 year, unless it is provided by Let's Encrypt -- in this case it is valid for 90 days. Which is okay as it renews automatically. The "Origin Certificate" is not obligatory in this case.
The purpose of the "Origin Certificate" is securing connection between your server and CloudFlare servers (edge), it allows using the "Full (Strict)" SSL mode in CloudFlare which is normally possible only if you have a trusted SSL installed at the origin server. If you disable CloudFlare, that 15-years origin certificate is "as good" as any self-signed certificate -- browsers won't recognize it as a trusted SSL and will throw errors.
