What is Apache Kafka? Brief introduction

Why source can't push directly to target? Why Kafka in the middle? What Kafka reduces in between source and target 🤔? I'm using in our App but how can I understand the working principle? I read 📚 a definition as Kafka is middle man like post box, but I'm thinking why this middle men when one service can communicate the other directly? Because once published to Kafka multiple target can consume them?
I know I can read on net, but I want to understand by asking questions. Anyone likes to help me in understand? Thanks 😊

For some reason, Stephane's series give me a vibe of "I've a good high-level understanding of Kafka, but have never used it in a production environment". Idk, his lectures don't feel authoritative.

If any partion is correpted in Broker.
Who identify partion is not able to process the data.
In that case who will serve the data if replication-factor >1

Can I suggest you number the episodes in a series, makes easier for people to follow/watch them in the correct order.
