I have a account with Amazon but don’t order anything

And yet people STILL order things from them…there is no point of these think pieces and talk about how bad it is… yet people can’t live without getting everything on Amazon… when they are working like slaves… that’s also because of the demand of everyone else… so the consumers are also causing this problem as well.

I like that Amazon creates jobs and selling opportunities for small businesses. With that said, I quit Amazon because I don’t need Jeff getting another cent from me. I also don’t like how it’s the new Wish marketplace with thousands of random dropshippers. If there is a brand I know and trust, I’ll pay the few extra dollars on the brands website and wait for standard shipping. We’ve gone centuries without 2-day or same day shipping, I don’t need it now.

This is exactly how hospitals run sadly. I’m a nurse and I’ll work 13 hours straight, no breaks, no techs to help the workload, and dangerous triples in the ICU. This along with low pay, lack of respect from patients, coworkers, management, etc

I tried taking a job at Amazon. I had been unemployed for months and desperately needed the money. I took the training and was harassed by the instructor. He singled me out to hit on me in front of the class, tried to get me alone, and intimidated me so badly during the driving test, that I decided to back out of the job. When I called the supervisor about my decision, he said, "Oh I see how it is. We get lots of people like you who just do the training, never intended to do the work. Sorry you're that kind of person but, it is what it is."
I tried to explain what happened with the instructor, but he would talk over me relentlessly until I would stop trying to speak. He had decided who I was, what I was about, and had no interest in hearing otherwise. Now you know, the turnover at Amazon is so high, imagine how many more like me that never make it through the training.
Fuck Amazon.

Tbh, Amazon sounds like a lot like the US military. My husband resorted to wearing diapers on duty because he couldn't be guaranteed access to regular restroom breaks during a 12hr shift. I had ZERO bladder issues prior to my military service. Now, I take 50mg of amitriptylne every day because I developed interstitial cystitis due to stress and having to hold my bladder for hours because no one would come relieve me so that I could go to the bathroom. It's so fucked up. The DoD will never change, but I hope Amazon gets sued to hell for this. It's literally abuse.

I feel like each Warehouse is different because i love working at mine. I'm a maintenance guy but still. I like it. They pay great too

The crappy thing is that delivery speed is at the heart of this issue...why do they NEED to ship so fast? Like personally I'm fine waiting a few weeks for my package, it's not life or death. Let those people pee and eat and rest.

After being educated about Amazon practices, I have also read the comments of people who worked at Amazon. Done purchasing from them. I won't support any company that do not care about the people they employ.

I hate Amazon their overpriced crap. BUT lol I do use them SOMETIMES because places like temu take a while so if I’m in a rush for something I don’t have a choice

This is typical for manufacturing or production jobs. If the line is moving, you're not allowed to stop to pee. You have to ask for a replacement.

I once worked in a call center and you had 5 minutes per hour to go to the bathroom. You weren't allowed to go if you were on a call. If you stayed longer every minute was calculated and cut from your paycheck. All stalls full? Your problem.
95% of employees were chain smokers due to stress. Some people wore maxi pads to avoid "accidents". The bathroom was mined with surveillance cameras, I don't know how that's legal. So Amazon isn't a unicorn unfortunately.

An Amazon employee died at an Amazon facility near where I live maybe last year. There was a tornado in the area and refused to let their employees leave 😢

Its not unusual for large companies doing this I used to work for a company who would roster us full time hours then only allow us 3 hrs per day where we had a second team member so no toilets breaks unless its between 12 and 3 during those 3 hours you also needed to take a break do the bank run take any boxes out to the compactors , make rosters that are governed by cutting costs not employees required basic rights at work and fill any restock needed while also serving customers oh an two person lift lol they are made up to keep companies out of trouble,I was pregnant and high risk at the time too they could not work out why no body ever returned I had my baby handed in my notice and never looked back

My friend works there and if you get hurt, you get fired if your file work comp in the state she's in and they have lawyers and people to stop employees from getting what they deserve. They also will not follow doctor's orders.

I won't buy from Amazon, not only is it bad for local business, I'm not helping Bezos get disgustingly and unnecessarily ultra-wealthy, even if I'm no more than 1 cent of it. America seriously needs better labour laws. Once upon a time I considered visiting the USA one day but the more I hear, the less interest I have in going there.

This is still relevant, as a driver they designed the routes without breaks included. They tell us we get breaks but every driver knows if you take even a 10 minute break youll be behind then eventually being behind will lead you to losing your job. So drivers just go for 8,9,10 hours without breaks.

I won't lie. I sell my book on Amazon and feel incredibly guilty about giving in to using Amazon. But, there is little choice, especially considering the current publishing market... But the guilt is definitely there.
