When they gave out Civilization VI for free, I played it for 20 hours and then went and bought it on Steam. I've also done this for Fallout: New Vegas, Dishonored, Europa Universalis IV and Kingdom Come Deliverance which were all free on the Epic Store. I have only bought 1 game from Epic which was Satisfactory and I only got it there because it was exclusive, but now that it's on Steam I will probably buy it there and play it on Steam. I don't see myself buying any other games on Epic either, simply because I have had steam for almost 9 years now - all my games, friends and mods are on there. Steam has a community built around PC Gaming, the Steam is app is much better than the Epic Launcher, the review and store pages are much better as well. I like the way Steam tracks all your stats, through playtime and achievements. You can see what games your friends are playing, their reviews, their playtime, you can message them on steam, etc. Epic has a long way to go if they want to win over PC Gamers and have them use their platform. I don't think you can win gamers over by giving them free games, because it hasn't worked for me or my friends and other gamers around the world. I've collected nearly all of the free games and just choose one to play to see if I like it and if I do, I will buy it on Steam.
One thing about the % that Steam takes vs Epic. Seeing interviews and talking to Devs, a lot of them prefer Steam simply based on the support they receive through servers, audience reach, etc. Steam does and has done a lot for PC Gaming and for game devs. They have cultivated an enormous player base even to the point where Activision came crawling back because Steam just brings in far more players. The 12% Epic takes means nothing if no one goes to their platform to buy the game.
I would definitely buy games from Epic games store, but the launcher is just so bad, IT SUCKS. I cannot even browse the store or library because its constantly refreshing the page, it starts so much slower than Steam and the games take forever to start compared to Steam, so i see no point in buying game from epic rather than Steam unless its much cheaper which havent happened yet.
ОтветитьDoesnt steam also give out free games seasonally? 🤔
Yea granted that most ppl dont know about it , but giving away games for free is like giving a product freebie to attract more audience.
But then again , I aint gonna complain if I get some cool games for free which I prob wouldnt have touched otherwise but still keeping Steam/GOG as my main platform for games.
Personally I think the epic platform is way worse than Steam and the only reason for staying with Epic is free games and Fortnite. Like with Steam it just feels smoother to use, and the choice of games is way WAY bigger than Epic. Games like Elden Ring (and every other fromsoft game) is not available they are also missing games like baldur's gate 3 which is one of the greatest games ever released, monster hunter, portal, slay the spire, strawdew valley, and vamp survivor all are massive triple A or indie games. Even so, I just have to respect what Epic is doing I have been able to build an entire libarary of more than 40 games in it I enjoyed playing for completely free. Absolutely incredible that you can do that and I can see Epic becoming bigger than steam in the future.
ОтветитьDec 31| Ghostrunner
Jan 01| Escape Academy
Jan 02| 20 Minutes Till Dawn
Jan 03| A Plague Tale: Innocence
Jan 04 - Jan 11| Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
You've covered +200 games, meaning you've picked up doing what you do in the middle of it, i haven't missed a single game on Epic since the beggining, well except once i missed Jotun - Valhalla Edition because i missclicked and had to wait 2-3 years to get it back, all this to say it says i have 447 games in my library without buying a single one, probably a dozen F2P games in there, so you could say Epic probably gave away at least +430 games since they started, even if they stop giving away games i think i'm covered for a very long time haha.
ОтветитьWhat is the website that you used to show all the epic free games list ?
Ответитьin Indonesia GTA is 33% off 14.99 ( with coupon) but steam is 14.99$ too with no coupon im gon buy from steam lol
ОтветитьPersonally, I prefer Steam's UI over Epic's, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The main reason I use Steam is because I don't have to perform a voodoo witchcraft ritual whenever I want to migrate game files to another drive. If Epic could implement the same ability to migrate games, I'd probably buy more games from them.
Ответитьwhy is ur dream gpu still a 3070? is it because of bottleneck with old cpu?
ОтветитьWhich game is going to come today?
ОтветитьWhich should i buy battlefield V or 1 or 2042?
ОтветитьThey started it to attract from competitors. But then they never finished their store front, and it doesn't have any features that their competitors use. Steam is fully fleshed out and has soooooo many features. I'd never leave steam. GOG has DRM free games - Friggin awesome. Epic has.... a buy button.
They would be better off using their money to actually develop their "store" than losing money on crappy free games.
The last game is guardians of the galaxy
Ответить95% of the games they give away are very cheap indie that cost dimes compared to their business, while the important games usuhavey has DLC or a monetized online version that pays more than the game itself. Today they are giving away Sant Row, which is an AA game but it totally failed, like Death Stranding. So, they usually choose games that have lost all momentum in sales.
You never know when you are going to get a AAA game, so you are forced to check every week and keep the app and its notification running. Marketing.
My guess is that today’s game is ghostwire
ОтветитьThank you for this information. I never really thought more about this other than "wow, free content is great"
ОтветитьCause they can't make a good games platform
ОтветитьFair and precise analysis on the topic. I hope people will consider all of this while making their New Year purchases...
At the same time, I hope to see less and less "I have XYZ free games in my Epic library and never bought anything!" bragging comments here, on Reddit or anywhere else.
I don't understand why steam does not give once a while a free game, have bought enough games at steam.
ОтветитьHappy New Year!!!😃😃
ОтветитьEpic has been a blessing for me and personally speaking, prior to that I was doing what (mostly) every eastern european person did (due to bad salaries and insane prices) , sailing across the high seas, something something Pirate bays .
But ever since Epic came out I collected over 400 games and mind you a lot of them are really good. On this current PC I have no pirated game at all, it's all legit .
Hopefully they will continue with the giveaways in 2024 aswell. Even if it's indie games with the current state of AAA studios I wouldnt mind it either. There's a lot of hidden gems out there.
As a hypothetical, if the Epic Game Store goes broke and has to shut down, will we lose all the game that we have collected?
ОтветитьI have heard from some people that epic should invest money in improving their launcher in general. That will bring in more people and will use less money than the free games strategy. I think that's true because there are many people like me, who is on epic games store just for the free games and once it stops, we won't buy anything else.
ОтветитьEpic is the GOD!! we all like and he understands wht the people needs the most and give it to us time to time.. but not GTA!! to make the children's safe..🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьOk, let's not talk about why they giving games for free, let's talk about why we getting boring games as usual
ОтветитьFunny how the store takes only 12% instead of 30%, and yet the prices are not cheaper than on Steam (except for the free games of course)
ОтветитьSimple answer: because the vast majority of PC gamers play on Steam and old school consumers like myself prefer to buy digital games without DRM on GoG. I’ll always advocate for physical media though since it’s the best one for consumers.
Ответитьwhy Epic doesnt makes the weekly games Mystery too...they can change the hint type or something to keep it different from christmas and Vault games...guessing makes it hyped and talks in communities...
ОтветитьI bought Valhalla last year and the Season Pass and I now bought AW II: DE & RDR II.
It has a so much better levelling up and achievement system than Steam.
I love the achievement unlock, it feels like an important event.
In the long run giving away free games is not sustainable and even not healthy (consumer perception). The benefit on the short term is more visitors in the store. When EGS achieves their visitors (read: sales) target, they should reevaluate their free games strategy.
ОтветитьYeah, so just in my experience anyway I took free games in year 1 without rly using epic games. But this year, the fact that they price matched or beat most of steam's sale prices PLUS the 33% discount coupon made me use Epic more than Steam in the Christmas sale for the first year ever. Still bought MCC on Steam tho
ОтветитьThey are using the PlayStation method, I respect it and hope they somehow become the biggest online gaming store out there o.o Using this method does take time though (introducing the new era with games, so people use them more regularly in the future) I hope their system works out for them, which it looks like it does. People just got to get used to it. And because of all of this, even older gamers like me will just buy from Epic Game Store
ОтветитьBTW really great content and insights on good topic. But you guys need to remind people to subscribe like and share or comment at least once a video. I have been watching for a while now and just saw that i was not subscribed. Use like a lower third, graphical element or use the word subscribe so that the subscribe button glows and highlights. Thanks for the content.
ОтветитьAnother AI-generated thumbnail smh
ОтветитьAm veryyy very happy, they Literally gave SAINTS ROW!
ОтветитьI'm here the second year, since the Tomb Raider trilogy was free, i have already 23 AAA titles in my library, not to mention AA games... I know that Steam is better in some point, but tell me, how many AAA titles you get from them for free? Yes i know, so i'm just very grateful! Oh and the last thing i want to say is, road to 100k next year guys, you really deserve it!
ОтветитьIt's absolute madness that they keep throwing money at free games but don't spend anything trying to improve their terrible platform. Not even their mass bribery is going to make people prioritize Epic.
ОтветитьEpic games be like : - say no to piracy take it free 😂
Jokes apart Epic games doing a great job ❤
I hope that EPIC grows and stands up to Steam. Steam is a very accommodating company in the market and it has never given relevant free games like EPIC is doing. What EPIC lacks is to invest a little more in communities and creating a market for items... this will further boost epic's popularity. There is a need for competition in this environment... Steam stopped innovating a long time ago and is a company that is already showing a certain decline. I won't buy anything else on Steam and I will always prioritize buying on Epic.
ОтветитьEpic's evaluation is around $31.5 Billion and Steam's is $7.7 Billion so we can say that Epic is hardly affected by giving some free games. But I love the way Epic is doing and I hope it lasts long 💯
ОтветитьThe one thing epic store need to implement is the game library installed on a drive can be directly plug into another computer without hassle of tweaks to make the library playable....
ОтветитьIt is sad that i only found this channel now
Ответитьyou know what i dont understand why people have the hate and launchers wars over steam vs epic store . i know steam needs too setup on there free game category need too take notes from epic games every since they started doing this i am scared too buy anything from steam cause it be free on epic games store i think thats why people hate epg because of all the big tittle games we got . i download all the games if there good or bad or games i will never play .to be honist the indie games become too much i will never buy those or play those some i do other i dont .
ОтветитьTbh, this winter mystery games are already better than that of last year but people will still call it worse because they will remember much better games given away in the past 2,3 years😂😂
ОтветитьWhy Does Epic Games Continue Giving Us FREE Games?
ОтветитьThumbnail made with chatgpt🤖
ОтветитьI just found something, why watch dogs legion ultimate edition on sale but it says unavailable?
ОтветитьBro please can u tell about prime gaming whether there is any update on jan month 2024 prime games 😅
ОтветитьTbh most of passions and hobbies costs... Inclued being fan of games no mather if it is general or if you like only certain kind of games. As you said there's is always and I say always a marketing idea behind a generousity in a business but still, to me being not being able to buy me stuff for while and loving many games and having to be patient or put some mony aside I'm not the only one & everyone life if's diff, normal and love to all of you lil souls But member being thankfull, even if we don't necessary like all the games. That is so cool & nice and I'm always hoping they keep doing 🥰
Doesn't happend with clothes and food 😆
Happy New Year 🎉🍀
