Why do you hate ADAT optical so much? Some explanation would have given context to your reasoning. If you are, as you say, the kind of guy that takes two days to get their wifi working, then is your opinion even valid ?

yes great so you get 24 INPUTS that are analog but where are the 24 OUTPUTS that are analog ? that's what he's not telling you if you have an analog mixer you'd like to use that has 24 analog INPUTS and you'd like to replay that into the mixer. So thats the whole problem here. You must have a digital mixing console or you can't use this properly with REAL knobs and eq. So unfortunately we're still stuck with ADAT as a work around to solve this solution for those of you like myself who don't want to throw away their analog mixing console for recording. I can't do that... I love my analog pre-amps and real faders, eq section, knobs, etc. that in real time, will allow me to track up to 24 tracks LIVE and then play them back LIVE while overdubbing, punch ins, adding new tracks (say i used 15 tracks and wanted to add on tracks like more guitars, or ... oh my i'm so tired !

I mean it was driving me mad with the stability of VIs in either studio one or pro tools especially Avid Pro Tools.Did Avid invent Adat I would not be surprised cause its utterly utterly utterly SHt like Pro Tools stability

It's so weird how much we think alike. I have 2x Trinovv SBT2 I have a Studiolive 64S running alongside a 32S Im running a 9.1.6 Studio. I clocked last year that wait up everything made for Studio is utterly buggy never works like they promise but with anything Live it HAS to be stable. Another thing I have discovered is Gig Performer which I use to run my VIs off a few computers. It was driving me utterly mad trying to get through projects. I run AVB and USB at same time and it's solid!

How do you output it to speakers?

I m a beginner about interfaces. But i was wondering, is there any device that would work at the same time as
at least 8 audio/midi interface and midi box with usb/midi interface...
to make it simple;
something that would combine something like
Behringer U-phoria UMC C820 + Mio XM 4x4 with 4 five pin midi in/out and 4 USB Midi Host ?

I used the Presonus 32R in my studio… I can’t even begin to describe how powerful & versatile it is!!!

I´m using Dante. Perfect solution - 32 in / 32 out - it supports up to 128 in / 128 out at 96 KHz 🙂

Anyone know if you can use a faderport to control this mixer? I’m looking for a way to have an in the box mix for our church broadcast without spending ten grand. And if you’re using the 24R or 32R as an interface how do you control the volume of your monitors or outputs?

Sorry, but Presonus says this unit has reached it "end of service" and will no longer support repairs on this unit. With Fender's take over of the company I would never but their product ever again.

Good information, what do you suggest if a person recorded 16 or 24 tracks in the box, and want to mix it on the analog console them back in the box what devices would you recommend. Thank you.

With the separate box that connects to the mixer, can you just plug 24 mics or inputs directly into the desk to record 24 tracks separately at once without the need for the box, as I believe this desk also acts as an interface in itself. Only reason I am asking is the separate box is around $3k and maybe using an old school 24 input multicore stage box loom to go between a live tracking room and control room would be a cheaper option for studio multitrack recording (eg a live band)

Been installing the range of Allen&Heath SQ or QU in studios for about 8 years now. First people are like but this is a live mixer? Yes but look at the flexibility you get… all the headphone mixes, the Daw control, mix or remote record from any position. Yes personally I still have my ISAs on front of this but 99% of musicians cannot hear the sound difference… it is way more about room, how loud is the backing or more me, how much food and coffee everyone has had than an boutique system that is way too complex! Live world is miles ahead on cost performance. Great video!

I can definitely confirm this. I came from the same setup with two 24 i/o boxes, a console, and Cubase. I hesitantly sold off my room and bought a Studiolive 32s and Studio One. Holy sh@ this thing is awesome! No random noises to search out, no automation screwing with outboard compression, and beautiful beautiful RECALL! The DAW mode and integration with Studio makes it just like mixing analog, but easier. My biggest hesitation was leaving Cubase, but I feel right at home with Studio One. It actually makes sense considering the two people who created Studio One used to work for Steinburg. 🤘🏻

Nice review quick question I’m a dj and I run sound for other djs at parties right now just using a Yamaha 12 channel analog mixer to run my powered top end speakers & subs wich I run my subs through my aux send channel so I can have separate control the only thing I don’t have that I wish I did was iPad control so I can walk out front of house and tweak certain things and not have to keep running back to the mixing board all the time will this Presonus set up work for me I don’t record anything right now just running speakers and want to learn how to run sound for a band in the near future!

Great video! Was just the info I was looking for! ...Although one question.... I would prefer a physical knob/fader to quickly adjust the main output level to monitors, rather than going into the graphical interface. Is there a way to achieve this without getting a huge console mixer?

its now 2022, ive been using ADAT a lot, and i dont understand why you have such a hate against it.
i mean yes, its for sure not that good, but also, not bad eough that i would say, "go away, never come back" or "it should stay in the bin"

Can any body help me on this ? I am Investing on Good Interface so I am Currently User Of focusrite 18i20 2nd gen and I am upgrading to the " prime sound Lyra 2 " which has Brilliant AD/DAs But lyra 2 is not cheap and is really expensive , but It has only Two IN and Outs , So It is something i really worried about because , I am also Going to Outboard Gears with Interface upgrade , Before it i have Done every mix ITB . So this year I am Also will invest on Mastering Grade Gears such as SSL Fusion or Thinking to Get Summing mixer. i know Lyra 2 isn't good choice for outboard gears But what about Using ADAT expansion because my Focusrite has one too Also both has worldclock . so if i EXpand my Lyra 2 ( master ) with focusrite ( Slave ) & connectiong outboard gears with my focusrite ? & keep my monitor speakers connected with the Lyra 2 to hear from Great DAs of Lyra .
is it good choice ? i hope it will Bypass The CHeap AD/DA of focusrite and i only utilize the quality AD/DAs of Prism Lyra , Or i am going to hurt the quality of Lyra with such setup , sorry if this setup sounds stupid , actually just stepping in Analogue .
i don't want to spend more on titan , becuase i want to buy outboard gear as well with it.
( also please don't suggest me get room treatment and great Pair Of Monitors first before going analogue , i have good room and good monitors , if i want to use analogue i just want to,thats how i will learn. lol

Glad we have the Studiolive Series III SX32 and 16r when our church upgraded from analog to digital. Didn't regret it. In fact everyone loved it! Felt like we brought a studio into church, haha! Our drums are semi-caged and use the mics to run and blend with Slate Trigger, our guitars and bass on vst guitar plugins, vocals with iZtope Nectar + Melodyne ARA2! The Capture App bundle is fantastic along-side running the free OBS Studio for streaming or just purely recording the cameras. The stage is clean and amp-less. I run fx and processing combining both the power of the DAW & plugins and the in-built channel strip of this board. Really taking advantage of the remote control. You can indeed do a lot with our present "Live" equipment when you bring it into the studio. It's a match made in heaven!

Ps. Even without internet, as long as you're connected to the router via Cat6/WiFi, it'll work. We bought our model last July, 2021. And to other viewers who are curious about the remote control app that musicians use that he mentioned in the vid, they're Aux sends. Their personal mixes will not interfere nor affect the main mix in the control room. It's just plainly a monitor signal feed where you have full control like adding "more ME"! Happy mixing everybody and cheers to the amazing vid!

nothing wrong with adat, iv measured latency to 0.4 milliseconds not 40 not 4 but 0.4 ! 24 tracks at 24bit at 48k all day long, and never a problem,
