Oh, so that's why Jinjer's tone sucks. Damn shame playing that $4000 OD guitar through that shitty cab.
ОтветитьIch finde beide sehr gut. Ggf. auch eine Mischung aus beiden bei einem Mix. Hatte mal das Glück IRs von Coffee Audio abzugreifen. Mit Creambacks und Red. Sehr gute IRs.
ОтветитьMy opinion totally flipped once I heard them in the mix. Really drives home the lesson to not just listen to tracks in solo.
ОтветитьBy using the Coffee, you are loosing the deSignals? (Even on my cell Phone speakers). The Mesa sounds way more on point even though the high end rattle might be too much. Still amazed on how much the tone changes with the same speaker in different cabs. Didn't expect that much of a difference. Might be worth grindsteining the signals?
ОтветитьWhat immediatelly hit me when switching from Coffee to Messa is a really prominent 4k whistle that I really hate, when switched to Coffee it is completelly gone, interesting. I have my Coffee audio Latte 2x12 in studio and it is so good as well.
ОтветитьCan we get an IR of the DV-77 in the Coffee Cab? That combo is awesome.
ОтветитьI have been using glen frickers coffee lungo ir for a while now in my studio blended with the dv77’s ir you released some time back. I get great unique tones for my reamped tracks. Maybe we will see a khole lungo pack with various speakers available soon🙏🏻🙏🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
ОтветитьAnd then, how would the Mesa compare if its speakers were front mounted?
ОтветитьThe Coffee has nicer mids but can sound muddier. The Mesa, altough a little harsh, has better clarity. I guess a mix of the two would be the way to go.
ОтветитьLungo sounds like a wall of sound with the palm mutes and tremolos, and the Mesa sounds a bit more like a bundle of bees but is probably more defined. Still prefer the Lungo for that song, though.
ОтветитьWow, I love the Coffee cabs so much!
ОтветитьYou should definitely check Polish brand Hesu.
ОтветитьThe Mesa Cab played with the D-Moll is a No-Brainer. We are using it with a Gibson SG Standard for Rhythm Guitar. Chugga Chugga all the way...
ОтветитьNot into the coffee at all… those mids are out of control and I feel would take tons of EQing to get it sit right, compared to the recto which needs not much to play nicely. There’s alot of “extra” like you said with the coffee that just makes it more of a pain to me more than likely.
ОтветитьBy themselves, I think they both sound... terrible. BUT! I think blending them together in the mix would probably work well. I'd like to hear that as a comparison. I've found more and more I never like the sound of a single amp, but rather a blend of amps.
ОтветитьA BIG part of the sound difference is probably front mounted vs back mounted! The wooden "tube" in front of the speaker when back mounted forms a ressonator, that's probably the high end sizzle you hear.
I'm planing some investigations about this toppics for a while but never found the time. Drop a message if you want to do some more scientific know how building ;-)
Again with the straight Vs angled?
"omg it's such a big difference I would have had no idea" - Kohle every time he compares an angled cab to a straight
Great video! It's hard to pick a favourite! I like the Coffee one because of its character and the vibe it gives me, but when you switch to the Mesa, that's instant recognition and the brighter sounds pleases my ears! I wonder how the IR's would sound with a plugin amp. I actually think it's great to be taught what a good guitar tone sounds like! Thanks!
ОтветитьAny experience with the early 2000's Randall XL Cab? It is essentially their version of Rectifier cab, almost identical dimension and same speakers.
ОтветитьDude that Mesa cab sounds like dog shit compared to that Coffee. There is some weird ass fizz in the Mesa.
ОтветитьI prefer the Coffee cab as well.
ОтветитьI like both, but the Coffee cab has such a nice mid bite and muscle. Would probably work wonders for leads also.
Cheers
Damn, that Coffee Cab is a beast.
ОтветитьHave been listening to a number of speaker/cabinet comparisons lately. Herr Kohlekeller makes great videos on this topic, absolutely proving how guitarists underestimate the relative importance of speaker/cab on tone. One of the elements that was discussed in his videos is that each individual speaker might sound different, and one should use the same speaker when comparing cabinets, so literally, physically switching out that individual speaker into each cabinet, everytime.
All of this has made me curious about the following - likely insane - speaker/cab shootout: buy/get two or three of the exact same brand and model cabinets (preferably new, in order for the speaker to be similarly non broken-in), and compare the tone. Make that comparison for a number of brands/models. Curious how different they could be...
@KohlekellerStudio You should try some Mojotone speakers. Check out the Greyhound model against your Vintage 30s. I think they are another good alternative for people that want something different for high gain sounds.
Ответитьdrop c guitar tuning?
Ответитьcoffee !
ОтветитьI prefer the mesa one. I feel mesa + some processing would be much better than the coffee, which I feel it may be difficult to make it sit in the mix.
ОтветитьI liked the Coffee cab.
Could be a great cab to throw a combination of two types of speakers in like those Jensen speakers you did a video with.
The Electric Lightning and the ??? (I can’t remember now)
would love to hear them blended on quad tracked guitars
Ответитьhat die gitarre schnupfen? 😢😢 😂
ОтветитьAlso der vergleich haut mich grad vom hocker.
Ответитьwouldve loved to hear both together in a mix.
ОтветитьIs the drivers connected the same way internally in each cab ??? Sounds like the coffee cab gets a kind of treble cutoff ??? 🤔🤔🤔
ОтветитьMesa hands down. The Coffee has that boxy mid scoopy tonk
ОтветитьWe need an Coffee cab IR pack!!!
ОтветитьMesa for the win!!
ОтветитьThanks! Now I am curious to hear the comparison between these 2 and the ENGL XXL
I prefer the D-Moll with the mess cabinet, much tighter and sounds more in front and resolved to me
So the cabs have different absorption characteristics. That I figured. But such a difference...I've seen cabs from even more different materials give less audible difference. (looking at you Jim Lil) So there we are again. It all depends.
ОтветитьInteresting analysis. Thanks
ОтветитьI would love to see a video with the Barefaced 2x12 cabs, uprising and radical
ОтветитьWas wir Mal wieder daraus lernen ist das keine Box besser klingt als eine Mesa 4x12 oversized 🤤
ОтветитьThank you very much for the video. I'm actually looking to get that exact Mesa cab these days to go with my mark v. It sounds great and convincing. Imma get that one. Didn't know the coffee brand, its not really in my tastes. Have a good one !
ОтветитьHave you tried early 70’ Hiwatt caps? They sounds better than Mesa for metal.
ОтветитьBoth sound absolutely killer. Love the classic scoop sound of the mesa cab but the coffee has something very cool going on in the low mids.
ОтветитьWhen buying make sure you are getting what you pay for. The standard size gets shipped in place of oversized. It may be a mistake, but this was three different times. Yes they did pay for return and send the correct cab after the second or third try.
ОтветитьIn practical terms, I would use the mesa for faster, metalcore/thrashy extreme metal. The coffee for deathcore/slam/downtempo, even doom metal sounds. It has that very agressive yet modern full range sound.
ОтветитьI want to hear this cab with DV-77's mixed with creamback neo's
ОтветитьNoob Question: are front loaded cabs more aggressive sounding because you are closer to the cone when you mic these cabs directly at the front cloth?
Ответить
