Jameson Irish Whiskey, Black Barrel Select Reserve | The Whiskey Dictionary

30 bucks? Have I heard it correctly? That's a lot, I mean here in Italy I paid it 15 € on Amazon, shipped for free of course in a pretty cardboard box made specifically for bottles... it would be 18 $.

I was at an abc store and saw a short asian guy walk in, go straight to the Jamison, grabbed two handles, and went to the register. In my head I was thinking that I ought to go party at his house! Hahah

What is the difference between Black Barrel and Select Reserve Black Barrel?  I bought a Select Reserve Black Barrel and a few weeks later a friend gave a Black Barrel bottle to me.  The Select Reserve is in a green bottle and the Black barrel is in a clear bottle.  Different labels and cork stopper.  I have searched the internet but can't find an answer. Can you shed some light in this question please?

I always get some vanilla on the nose, it can be just me though.

Jameson regular is one of my favorites, it's not complex but its smooth and pleasant and mixes really nice with Lemonade and 7 up

So his slogan is the original No Fear

I smell cloves, cinnamon,vanilla and lucky charms lol jk on lucky charms lol on the standard Jameson.

Could you do a review of the caskmates stout edition?

Regular Jameson tastes like water to me compared to Scotch. I blend it 50/50 with Nikka Coffey Malt or Monkey Shoulder to make it interesting.

I kind of want Irish whiskey to be my favorite whiskey because you know...it's Irish. Based on the regular Jameson, which is the only one I've tried, it's a like but not a love from me. It doesn't excite me the way others do but for the price point it's excellent value. Usually I'd rather spend a tad extra and get a bourbon or scotch though.

I might have to dig a bit deeper into Irish whiskey later down the road but at the moment I'm on a huge bourbon kick.

For most of my adult life I'd always default to scotch not realizing that bourbons had so much more to offer. As a teenager I was forced into drinking lots of cheap pre-mixed bourbon and cola by my friends and that put me off it but now I'm realizing how awesome it can be.

Irish whiskey is awesome

Jack Daniels is Tennessee whiskey the whiskey must be charcoal-filtered prior to aging. Now Bourbon is Kentucky whiskey aged in charred new white oak barrels same as JD but TENNESSEE whiskey must be charcoal-filtered prior to aging. Lincoln County Process. If its Kentucky its Bourbon Try caskmates and the copper edition if your curious about buying or spending the Ben Franklins on high end bottles youll need the campfire crew chipiin in hey they started it and a Beer is made Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition

I am still new to this but I am getting a hint of Caramel when smelling it. I might be mistaking that for the vanilla that some others are smelling though

Is the newer label, Jameson Black Barrel, the same whiskey as Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel ?

You're always the first person I go to, to find out what a whisky tastes like. Realised I've never had Jamesons so I watched this video. Entertaining like always but it's crazy how much you've improved as a creator. Your confidence, production and experience. Have you thought of re- reviewing your whiskys you reviewed some time ago?

I recently moved from South Africa to New Zealand. I noticed that in SA this Jameson is called “Select Reserve Small Batch” while in NZ this is called “Select Reserve Black Barrel”. Does anyone know why the different names for different regions?

JD advertises the fact that they filter the taste right out of the the whiskey. 😂 Disgusting. As to Jameson, two of their best whiskeys have come out in the last three years. Black Barrel Proof, which you need to go to Ireland to find, and their Single Pot Still. As for myself, I like the whiskey from West Cork Distillers, Dingle and some Waterfords. A couple of the Glendaloughs are ok, as is Roe & Co. Lots to choose from today!
