I see it as another tool to enhance our photography skills, I tried this same technique with a picture I took of my grandson in his football field and super imposed a mid- journey background. The photo came out Amazing!!!!.

Interesting video. First time I've seen anyone use the harmonize beta fucntions. Very cool! Question: Why did you use content-aware to get rid of the player? Why not use Generative-fill to get rid of the player instead? From my experience, the generative-fill function does a great job with these sort of tasks!

The composite looks quite good, but there are clearly going to be issues matching the light up in the two elements.

I agree with your viewpoint on this. I also was looking at this as an enhancement to the photography work we do, some compositing I think is really impressive what it can do. I do like the idea of having your own concept and making it a reality. But like you, cautiously optimistic.

I believe quality photographers will be just fine as they always have their personal touch on their client's images. And I also think AI is a good thing, hopefully it allows photography gear to become cheaper as I've been longing to upgrade to medium format, although i currently see a decline in prices.

But this really isn't something that's going to change photographers much, as compositing and photography have been long-standing in photography. Don't be too worried :-) Keep shooting and enjoy!

You'll have to be several steps ahead of Ai. The problem is that Ai can infinitely adapt and replicate. Plus everyone will have access. Sorry to say but jobs will be lost.

Nice work. If you wanted to achieve the background image without Photoshop you could try...

1. add "--no player, batter" to the end of your prompt.

2. Take your chosen image with the player in it. Then run /describe on it through MJ. Run the images from the suggested prompts,
Select the one you like then modify the prompt so it doesn't include any reference to a player. Then add
--no player to the end of your prompt.

Creativity? Not your creativity the computers. Photography. Not your photography. It's the computers. From what I am told AI steels parts of images from the world wide Web. So what you create has been stolen? Correct me please if I am wrong?

Great content, entertaining dive into it. I’ve been wanting to use it to make my composites for kids sports more interesting, like stock photos but more flexible.
I just don’t see AI as a huge threat to the industry overall, sure some aspects will get pinched but others will grow. I think we intrinsically value reality and real photos over composites. I think the creatives will still be the creatives and use AI to do more interesting things. Maybe the biggest threat is just that the best creatives can be so much more productive a few people with some skill and creativity can fill a lot more creative/commercial work. It’s coming either way so it seems best to take the approach you used to keep up with it and see how to work with it an have fun with it rather than avoid it.

Thank you for your time and effort in this production. Thanks for giving the possible pros and cons of this newtech, and if any profession should embrace it is photographers as many can remember just since the Canon 5d mark II came out 15 years ago how much has changed. Now for LESS than the cost of the Canon 5d II when it came out you can buy the recently released Canon R6 Mark II which has so much more tech in it there is no comparison for less money. This is a fantastic time to be in the creative business for sure. My AI question would be I have heard there is one AI generator where you can actually put a photo into the generator and work the prompts around that image. I don't know if it is Midjourney or Stable Diffusion or if this even exists maybe someone could comment if there is even such a generator and if they have tried it.

This has been my main use case for MJ so far. The big challenge is getting MJ to understand the perspective, i.e camera position, height and composition as it is so crucial for believable composites. Focal length in the prompt is handy, but something you may find useful is sketching out the scene, or ideally if you can use 3D software like Blender blocking out a basic scene in 3D and using it as an image blend with your prompt to help guide the type of perspective. Picture says 1000 words and it definitely goes a long way with helping MJ understand what perspective you want from it. You can then further reroll your prompt with the new images it puts out as well to further refine

Another one I've found effective is using "background from xxx" in my prompt, i.e "documentary interview background" or in this instance maybe something like "baseball magazine cover background image" or "baseball magazine cover scene" as it seems to make it drift towards the typical scenes you would try to composite into

Great job on the comp image btw, really effective use of both images

Turned out very nice for a first try James. I am seeing more and more of these done by photographers. We also plan on doing this for some tests for what we do in product and food commercials - I think it can work very well for that. The way you used the harmonization was really nice.

Great work. I wonder if the stadium can be drawn "from the eyes" of the catcher or batter, in order to avoid the player in the image.

AI I can see killing stock photos. But when you need wedding or sports photos of real people, AI won’t be able to create that without someone first taking a photo of the person first.
