I am sorry for everyone who ha to go through the pain of partitions. Idk bit the way he said ethenic cleansing and genocide and the fact that 1.6% muslim were left. But every one of them wanted a seperate nation, that's not just political ideology that's bout shaping life's of millions of people. It's sad they choose partition.

Indian people still treats widows like they're rubbish!! The British may have stopped widows from being burned alive on their husbands funeral pyor, but widows are now destined to a slow death of starvation, or death from the elements.

Hey, that's what India, and the rest of the religions wanted!!! Independence! So that's what they got! And how ironic that Britan is demonized for their "terrible" colonialism, but then, thousands move to that "terrible" awful colonizing ountry of Britain as soon as they can. What hypocrites!!

Yes. We are a refugee family, that was forced out from our home (s) in Montgomery and Lahore.

Its ironic, and sad, that Punjab and Bengal contributed the most to the Freedom Movement, and it was Punjab and Bengal that got screwed and bore the brunt of the
Partition Fratricide /Holocaust.

When Gandhi was picking salt, or doing his little Satyagraha shenanigans, Patriots from Punjab and Bengal were fighting British bullets.

The biggest myth of History is that Gandhi got India her independence.

This Holocaust never got its rightful place in the annals of history.
We were / are Non White, not Judeo Christian, we were / are poor and uneducated........so our lives mattered less.

Today, its only Punjabis and Bengalis that understand our affinity for our people on the other side of the border.

Im fascinated how the privileged bubble of Mandy and Bim mirror each other. Mandy's father was not the owner of his land any more than Bim's zamindar father was. I suggest people read up on the zamindar caste and why and how they got their land.
That's not to say they deserved any barbaric violence that they had to suffer. They were both good men but the systems that give them that power was not (colonialism and casteism)

This documentary just helped me see the real root discontent that exploded in violence.

Caste is not religion issue. It is present across religions. I wouldn't be surprised that the militias that drove Syed away were lower caste and his family was, again, higher zamindar caste.

Such good and factual information. Really enjoyed watching this. My parents ended up being on the Pakistan side, not out of choice but made the best of an unfortunate situation. I’m sure many people experienced the same.

Whole time I was watching this video by God I was crying its so emotional and there are millions other sad stories like this, I heard from my grandfather what was happening those days.😥😥

“This is not my country… this is not my house” that still breaks my heart watching this a year later. The trauma that man has been through is unimaginable. Partition turned people’s worlds completely upside down and everything that they knew before was taken away (homes, friends, jobs, cultural identities etc.)Hopefully one day( way in the future)the wounds between these two countries can be healed

I wish this history were taught to people of all nations. We must everyone please work together to tell these unfair stories. We must and each help spread this knowledge. It is so horrific that in today’s world we are still blind to cast systems, religious discrimination and human inequality. If we are not part of the solution to bringing ourselves together as a human race how do we ever expect to achieve enlightenment? How do we expect we are able to help protect our Heavenly Father’s children? These are our brothers and sisters. And I’m an old white, conservative, retired military man from Utah, USA. Thank you very much for helping me to learn this. I hope I will for the rest of my life, work to try and help change this and hopefully help these beautiful people and bring improvement to many other people’s lives. We who live in freedom and peace must continue to help bring blessings to other peoples of all nations. These are a proud and wonderful people and nobody should ever allow others to be treated like this. Peace must find a way; peace and love for one-another must become our reality on earth. Very Sad. Had tears listening to this documentary. Partition separated my Dad's step mom and half brothers and sisters. They all had to go to Pakistan and my Dad never new their whereabouts since he had left with his Aunt to come to East Africa when my grandfather remarried. Lost total contact. I am sure I have paternal families in Pakistan and but do not know them. It will always be an unknown paternal family history. Partition - Livelyhood Destroyed - Heartbreaking - Separated Families!

Partition of India was an ugly event ,the drama was created by then jinnah and other traitors hired by then British rullers ,the drama was more or less like boris Johnson's brexit. but brexit was done without blood shed ,on the other hand indian partion still spills blood and poor people of great indian sub continent are paying a heavy price for this division ,architectured by vicious Honourable british crown and politicians .The irony is a drunk man divided a 3000 years OLD nation knowingly the outcome will be death and disaster.there is a lot to say, but words or details will not heal the scars and damage done, there is only one nation to blame for ....I am sure you know who to blame for THIS mass murder ..irony is they do not even help unite the india instead they are igniting hate when it comes close to unite.

I am from Bangladesh. Unfortunately we are never taught about these atrocities happened in our country more than 70 years ago. Just a shame.

My country is secular, we have laws to protect minority rights, we got reservations for our minorities in jobs and education for their uplifting.
We don't have any restrictions for any minority to command the country, the government, army or police.
But we are bad guys and bad people.
Contrary to Pakistan which sudo libral call good. Unfortunately our own within the country have this notion. That is the biggest Irony
