question? can not mod at all so is there a place where i can just buy a one ?
ОтветитьJust a warning to everyone. The USB-C is not easy. Accidentally removed all the pads during the attempt lol I likely will not solder any expensive motherboards in near future. Be careful when removing the old charger.
ОтветитьNice gba SP
ОтветитьThe volume of the audio using the DAC adaptor can be low due to the impedence of the headphones. Try changing them with others. If that doesn't work it can be something faulty. Usually you should be able to listen with normal headphones
Ответитьcan one of you dudes do me a favor and list a price breakdown? total costs for each mod
Ответитьmy main question for all of this is where can i find a gba sp to work on ive tried ebay, mercari, even etsy. and i couldnt find it
ОтветитьOut of curiosity, how much did this all cost per GBA SP?
ОтветитьThis is an amazing tutorial! One thing to add is that if you accidentally bridge the connections on the USB-C port when soldering it you can make the SP think headphones are plugged which turns off the speaker. After troubleshooting everything to fix the audio, I redid the solder and it works perfectly!
ОтветитьNew screen for mine, new battery, a Gamester, a dual speaker attachment, a 150 in 1 NES cart, and done.. love mine so much.
Ответитьi need this <3
Ответитьi accidentally broke that small black box when desoldering the charging port, turns out the screen wont work without it 😅
ОтветитьEllo, may I ask what intro song you use? I love how it sounds and I wanna add it to my music playlist. Thank you for your time!
Ответитьgreat to see so many parts for the SP! i've modded a couple GBA's with good success but was dissapointed with the offering for SP shells till you suggested retro game repair, good stuff!
ОтветитьCan i send you mine to have some work done on it? Namely screen and usb-c.

ОтветитьAs cool as this is You could buy three miyoo minis minus the work put into building it to be left with a upgraded fake of what it originally was, it's like spending 3 times the amount of the cost of a Tesla to turn your mazda into a Tesla
ОтветитьWould be nice to find these already modded, as some people aren't inclined, or have the ability to custom build them themselves.
ОтветитьHad no idea this was even a thing. And that parts are cheap too!
ОтветитьGreat video super duro very informative for this newb sitting on a 2002 GBA WITH 27 games that my kids no longer use 😂 I definitely need the upgrade for my vision unless I’m playing during the day or with the light on
ОтветитьIs there a soldering set up y’all would recommend for this?
ОтветитьThere is a high chance that the battery doesn't have enough power to overcome the impedance of the headphone drivers.
ОтветитьI wonder is it possible to add all of these mods and also include bluetooth for wireless earbuds or headsets, I remember a video you did on a bluetooth mod for gba seemed fairly labor intensive would that mod work in tandem?
ОтветитьHave You ever watch the retroHAI mods there is a Pokémon GBA sp with a small screen on the back , i hope You can bring that kind of mod
ОтветитьI have a question about the thickness of the solder wire used for the led mod
ОтветитьAfter 20min of playing my Gameboy SP with IPs screen freezes...any idea how to fix it?
ОтветитьWhy can't we have official companies go back and make these? WHYYY???
ОтветитьGreat, man.
ОтветитьMake your own USB C to headphone jack, using a generic Usb c port and a headphone jack. Pin A5 pull to ground on both side, on any one side D+ D- Left or right and ground all set.
Ответитьinspiring me to buy the purple indigo gbc and gba i gave away as a kid lol ima get into making custom roms
Ответитьlol is that grimes in bg if ur hi end luxury gameboy modding vid?
ОтветитьThis is incredible, makes me want to dive into modding as a hobby. At the same time...
I can't be the only person whose wrists hurt just looking at a Gameboy SP. The thing is an ergonomic nightmare. The compact size is cool and all, but it's basically reducing the volume of device that already fit in a pocket. Honestly I appreciate the folding design more for the inherent screen protection.
The holy grail of GBA mods (for me) would be one with all the above features that didn't make me feel like I was two-handing a toaster strudel.
are there cool mods like this for the ds lite. i love the gba sp but ill always be a ds lite girly at heart
ОтветитьUSB-C charging is a bit...finicky. On modern devices, this is not an issue, but it seems like there isn't much of logic on the board of the mod. I assume, that the mod cannot do the handshake, that USB-C devices perform. Has something to do with Power-Delivery, but also orientation, since the plug can go in two ways on both ends. With a USB-A to C, this is usually not the case, so that handshake-logic is not needed.
ОтветитьThose Gameboys are so awesome looking, and the mods are amazing
ОтветитьI just wish these companies had a build order option for people not wanting to build themselves.
Ответитьcan this be done on the original sp?
ОтветитьIf you don’t change the charging port for the usb-c could you still charge the new battery with the original charger?
ОтветитьSeen video of a gbc cpu and ram in a classic Gameboy using custom boards.
Also seen super Gameboy cpu in classic Gameboy to remove splash screen.
This to me says compatibility checks are done on the CPU
Can a gbc or gba CPU and ram be fitted to the super Gameboy or super Gameboy 2 add gbc gba support?
Curious if anyone else's ITA screen had horrible screen bleed? (Image sticks to the screen after power off)
ОтветитьMost wanted 2005 ? Underground 2 ?! Midnight Club ?
Ответитьwhere can i buy one of these ready made?
ОтветитьI'm getting no audio from this mod, idk what I did wrong.
I'm gonna go back and check for bridging and add more solder, but I can't even get connection from 3.5mm cable to the usb-c side.
Fantastic video as always, I've been wanting to see a video explaining the compatibility between IPS/ITA screens and flashcarts.
Ive purchased an IPS screen and 2 different flash carts but none work eachother.
Everdrive mini
Ezflash Omega
And i have 2 more coming in to test.
I recently had one of those USB C mobs installed and the audio from the speaker was crackling really bad. The girl that worked on it had to use a different one that works fine, but im just curious if this is a known issue with these specific USB C ports
ОтветитьI moded my gameboy with the ips screen and battery you showcased. However, my gameboy only gets a couple of hours before it dies. Maybe less. I did buy an aftermarket gbasp charger. Do you think it is cause of the crappy charger or that maybe the screen is using too much battery life? Im also using and EZ cart definitive edition if that helps
