Hey everyone, it's been a while since the video went up, but I wanted to clarify a few things for everyone's benefit.

The half dome structure is actually called a 'Dagoba' or 'Stupa' and it's one of the most significant monuments in Buddhist architecture. These structures were used to enshrine the relics of the Buddha and monks. You can find Dagobas in all Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, 'Bodhiya' refers to a sacred tree found in any Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. Its scientific name is Ficus Religiosa. The concept behind it is that the Buddha attained enlightenment while meditating under the shade of this tree. In the 4th century BCE, a young sapling of this tree was brought to Sri Lanka and has been venerated and worshipped with the same respect as the Buddha ever since.

We are indian Tamils. Rest of them came from kalinga, and sinhalapuri from Thelungu. All sinhala alphabets are in Thelungu. Actually Paandiyan was ruling until 14th century.

Hi Lankan, seems your mate’s knowledge is a wee bit better than yours. Dageba or stupa is correct. Bodhiya is the Bo tree under which the bodhisatva attained enlightenment and is used symbolically to mean enlightenment. We pay obeisance in expressing our gratitude for giving the bodhisatva shade as Buddha himself did.

While I appreciate this presentation on what's called geography, the facts need to be verified before you put it out. In the population breakdown, you have put the Muslims together with the Tamils and called them Moors. First, the Sri Lankan Muslims are a different ethnic group to the Tamils. They include Moors of Arab/Sri Lankan origin and Malay Muslims.

Was always curious about Sri Lanka but never actually got around to learning about the country and culture until now. With just one video you made me want to take a trip there! Love from America :D
