Is the 2020 Mazda CX-30 as GOOD as the CX-5 or even BETTER?

I really like the cx30 but it’s the same price as the cx5 in my country so it would be a hard decision.

No back seat pocket on the driver's side makes so much sense...it can be so distracting when someone is digging around in your seat back while driving.

In Japan, they brand it as “just size” size of SUV. The size is actually between CX-5 and CX-3, and the concept is based from Mazda 3. It’s actually in the middle of current SUV lineup in terms of size. In my opinion, the best feature of this car is the clear camera that the previous models didn’t have. Some may not like that plastic cladding but I think that adds more “sporty” look in the vehicle.

They did the plastic clad because all there cars look the same. Thats just lazy designing and call it kodo.

I think this will be my next vehicle. I love the smaller but still usable size and that it has a 6speed traditional automatic. The aesthetic reminds me of a shark, for some reason, and I love it.

to small and idk about others but man i think any company adding plastic cladding around the wheel wells needs to stop we dont like it it looks cheap and horrible sorry cx30 owners. Im testing a 2020 mazda cs-5 grand touring signature 2m and a 2021 santa fe limited 2 days after to figure out what car im buying. this is just a strange car from mazda it really offers nothing better than the cx-3 at the same price point but a lower overall height and smaller cargo space. not sure who this car is targetting that the cx-3 isnt.

Right off the bat it doesn't have the eye catching lines/shapes as the Kona or the CHR

The cx30 is identical to the Mazda 3 inside. The 2.5 litre engine is a class leader for hp for a naturally aspirated engine in its segment- mated to a 6 speed automatic and its mechanically hard to beat

Have you measured the depth of the CX-30 with seats down?? I like to put my large frame road bike with the front wheel removed into the car, is it deep enough to allow for this??

Ac vents are kinda low but love the interior. Small backseat. Looks like cx5 or 6 for me. It’s a looker though

I’m a designer. The reason for the amount of cladding had to do with proportions.
Black is often used to trick your eye ...
It tricks your eye to make the “car” looks more like an SUV.
It it was less ... I’m sure it looked much worse

Whoever designed that plastic around the wheel wells should be fired. Ruins the whole look of the car.

What happened to the heated steering wheel in the Cx-30? Manual says ‘some models’ but none of those models seem to be available in the US.

No random-reliability push-belt CVT is Mazda's biggest selling point. I hope they stick to their guns on this in the future. 6-speed automatic transmission FTW.

Even in black, the cladding makes this looks cheap.

I recently test drove a CX-30. I prefer the ride and road feel of our 2014 CX-5 (2.5L, Touring trim).

Beautiful is an understatement! Would you pick the CX-30 or the CX-5? They're almost at the same price. Which has more value for your money?

Joe, this is NOT an off road vehicle but the cladding looks like it should be used off road. I may wait until year #2 to see if Mazda minimizes the cladding as in the CX-5

I bought Mazda CX 5 when it first came out years ago. Never had one single issue in 80k miles and sold it recently because the wife was nagging too much about wanting a new car.

If he says ZONK one more time! LOL Nice review. I am starting to look for a new vehicle. I have a 2007 Yaris sedan that has been super reliable for 14 years. Not sure if I want to go outside Toyota but I don't really like the CH-R that much and the RAV4 might be to much $$. I have dogs now so need something bigger and that has some go in the engine.

I got my cx5 yesterday a 2020 touring, but my first option was the Cx30 , but Mazda CX-5 is moooore better !! Cx30 is too small !
