Dying Light 1 vs Dying Light 2 | WHICH GAME IS BETTER?

They should have remove that healthbar on the biters and volatiles. They completely forgotten who their were once.

I'm playing DL1 with mods.

Best decision of my life. Both amazing games though.

My main thing with both games is that you start out getting infected with the virus that makes the game a zombie game.


I played a lot of dl1 just started with dl2 and learned that in both games you're infected with the zombie virus which sucks I don't like that addition to the stories the whole point is to Not get bit or be infected with an incurable virus.

In dl1 I prefer to blast volatiles with the semi auto shotgun to avoid any contact because that's how it would be in reality as I like to play what would seem realistic, in dl2 no firearms in an area packed with zombies is just rediculous and the fact that the GRE can make sure every gun in a zombie packed city is confiscated is also not realistic and makes the city seem like a test site vs originally a contamination site.

Dying Light 2 just needs more updates

DL2 is definitely a better game to me. I don't feel like it needs to be scary, anymore. It needs to feel desolate and apocalytical. Which it does very well, from my perspective. I do agree with whoever mentioned volatiles...those were scary mofos. However, like I said, 15 years after the outbreak, the new reality sets in and fear turns to apathy, desolation and pure survival. The scarctiy of resources is more dangerous than the infected.

Honestly I found the entire safezone system in DL1 much better than in DL2, I liked that each safezone looked different and how you have to clear out, and secure them. In DL2 though, you've just gotta turn on a generator or climb a windmill 30+ times just to unlock a social hub that basically all look the same. On that note, I like Harran WAY more than Villedor, while being smaller, it is far more detailed and diverse, but in Villedor, it's just a HUGE, copy pasted, repetitive open world. I could pretty much always tell where I was in DL1 just by looking at the road or the buildings, but in DL2 I have to constantly look at my map to properly find my way back to POIs.

This comes across as blatant favoritism, and honestly, it's kinda subpar. You should have actually criticized both equally and what the actual differences are, not just I liked this more than that. That's your personal opinion and not an honest look at what has changed

The removal of guns is dumb. Like... Why limit options? You're fine with fewer options? They could simply have guns and fewer confrontations with enemies with guns. I liked the feeling of power when I pulled out of shotgun and decimated incoming volatiles... so lame.

I like how the game looked and all that kinda disliked the combat when they are on the ground it seems like I can’t hit them like the first one I really dislike the leveling part of the game

to me crane is such a better character you can always agree with him and i like how the blue when you call the GRE is gettign aways with the time bc the colour blue is the trust that kyla has with them and his descison are for others and to save them and aiden just cares about him like if he didn't existed nothing would have changed in dying light 2 otherwise crane if he didn't existed everything would have blown up and also your rating is so wrong like just help💀💀 im sorry but dl1 combats are so much better even if yes they maked the combat better in the uptade that happened not much time ago but one year ago it wasnt and it was cluncky asf and we all can agree everybody prefers dl1 blud is a paid actor

Zombies in DL1 looks realistic and DL2 looks a little Cartoony, wondered why they change the art style. Also as many already commented here night gameplay is mediocre in DL2

I just finished playing the anniversary edition of dying light 1 & it’s awesome! This was a game I skipped & never played, but I’m glad I came upon it. It reminded me of the 1st Dead Island! It’s definitely worth it!

The fact trees are growing on shallow rooftops in DL2 was enough for me. Not to mention SO MANY missing mechanics. I get its set after DL1 but people have been making ammo and gasoline for a LONG time.

I just wished they kept guns in dying light 2, just make in a way that it would remain revelant with the theme of the game

The lack of guns is a disgrace imo, the fun thing about them was having to chose when to use them or not. They do more damage and give you range, but at the cost of allerting everyone in the vicinity.
Its about having the option, they can add a paraglider and chicken suit, but not a handgun?
They could have also just reduced ammo availability, meaning you cant find it in stores, just police/army vehicles and crates.
Its a huge missed opportunity

I finished dl2, its mediocre. I got a lot better experience playing DL1 back in the day. Idk why this guy gave so much points to a story of DL2, its total garbage, super unrealistic human behaviour, very predictable and so many damn plot holes, its just sad...

They honestly changed a perfect game just to make it shit

DL2 surely had more content and gameplay elements than the first game but they always felt unnecessary. Also the funky cartoonish graphics of DL2 completely put me off. It fails to encapture the feeling of terror and strandedness that the first game nailed. And the concept of not having much context for the protagonist Kyle fits the whole aura of the game. As a whole, DL2 fails to deliver the experience DL1 did. DL1 was a spectacle whereas DL2 is another zombie survival game that comes and goes. The vibe of the first game is unmatched

DL1 is much better. Much grittier and violent with a very creepy atmosphere.
DL2 is too much like a Fallout setting.

I miss the abundance of Developer weapons. A lot of the fun in DL 1’s post game is finding all the different dev gear. DL2 has some dev gear, but not to the same extent as 1, and the dev gear itself isn’t quite as fun to screw around with.

I loved the story in DL1 forsure‼️ I got the game as a birthday present but never really played it up until I got bored with other games so I figured I’d give it a shot and I absolutely loved it. Haven’t played DL2 yet, but I plan on giving it a shot aswell.

The fact that first of all, they didn't delivered in the promise of decisions affecting the world and the game (it is incredibly superficial) and the gesus christ the animations and physics of DL2 were so broken at launch made me refund the game, and I don't regret it. As a completed project DL1 was better, and DL2 was a released as a beta without admitting it.

My biggest problem with DL2 was the introduction of enemy health bars and levels... It really takes the edge out of the game... In Dying Light 1, you had no idea how strong something was or how close you were to something actually staying dead, which constantly kept you on your toes. In DL2, you just check the health bar, which can easily tell you, if it's safe to go in for that extra swing, which will kill them.

I also really miss the X-ray effect, there was something extremely satisfying about smacking a zombie in the head and watching the skull crack.
