🤔 so the solar doesn't work
ОтветитьChange your headline wastin our time with a lie.
ОтветитьI have no clear yet epics or fenix, need more help please.
ОтветитьDont forget that garmin refuses to do any repairs so they will offer you 40% on the same model (which is 20% compared to price in other stores). In that moment, it could be 5 year old model. My garmin stopped working few months after guarantee expired and they offered me that 20% discount on 3 year old model and told me thats the only thing they can do. Too bad
ОтветитьI think it's pretty clear cut. If you're ok with charging your watch once a week and want a gorgeous screen then the Epix is the obvious choice. If you need really long battery life with solar charging because you go on tours for days/weeks at a time or if you don't like amoled screens, then stick with the fenix.
Alternatively you can also take a small power bank with you on long tours. A small 5000mAh one will weight 90g and be able to charge your phone once or twice or your watch 10+ times. If you're out this long you need something like this as a back up for safety anyway.
I'll add that the feedback on fast charge on the epix has been very good. Plug it in 15min everyday when you shower and you'll never have to charge it for real.
Check for deals in general. Right now the epix 2 steel is 650 chf in Switzerland for instance (1:1 with $) and the fenix 7 is below 600 even. The 7X and the sapphire versions remained unaffected by price reduction here ( at 850-1000) and are not worth the money at this point imo.
The title is misleading
It should say: why you should buy Epix 2
The AMOLED screen is great advantage of Epic 2 over Fenix 7
Greta job, thanks. Both watches feel a little over done. Of the 50 or so activities I have never ever done 30 of them, it makes me feel perhaps I'm wasting my life. I'm shocked that no one reviews the "Going Fishing" activity, probably not enough sweating or the fish feel very safe if they see a garmin watch
ОтветитьI'm so sick of clickbait video titles.
ОтветитьUnless you need maps, it's all over kill. Instinct 2 is a much better buy! Buy 955 and Instinct 2 for the price of one.
ОтветитьCan anybody please cut to the chase and tell me the difference in 1 word lol. I don't want to spend 14 minutes of my life, hearing the same shit over and over again.
Ответить7x also has a but in flashlight...
ОтветитьYou didn’t even mention the sunlight readability issue. Yeah the Epix display is bright but it is still hard to see in bright sunlight. I know for me and a lot of others, being able to get all the information you need from a quick glance at the watch face is very important. I often mount my Fenix 7 to my bike handlebars for navigation and don’t have the ability to shade the display with my hand just to see the map. I constantly think about how nice it would be to have that crisp display with all the nice colors but it’s not worth it to have a display that fights the sun instead of uses it to be more readable.
ОтветитьThanks. Nice video but the sound animation can be a bit annoying.
ОтветитьNice review; keep it up! One small opinion about aesthetics - on the transition pages, the beep beep swoosh sound happens twice. It's great the first time, and it make the point. The second time when the thing "swipes" left is redundant and unnecessary. I would nix that time of playing the sound.
Ответитьcomon, fenix start at 500 usd FOR THE MODEL NO SOLAR NO SAPHIRE, for the saphire not solar 47 version the price is the same than epix. with the fenix u will get a better battery, with the epic a better screen luminosity.
ОтветитьWell I bought the epix gen 2 first then I went ahead and bought the fenix 7 solar so now I have both lol
ОтветитьAnyone know if you would be able to download audio books???
ОтветитьIdk if I should send my fenix 7 solar back and get the fenix 7 solar sapphire
ОтветитьGreat video but not agree with the title. If only it was "the reason why you should get the epix over the fenix" because at the end you prefer the epix because of better screen. Thx
ОтветитьBest and most accurate for indoor pool?
ОтветитьNot to be that guy, but..."shouldn't".
ОтветитьEpix 2 beats the 7x by a long shot the 7x and other models have that ugly hard to read screen where the epix screen is so nice and good for seeing maps.
ОтветитьWhy don’t they make a solar version of the epix,it makes so much more sense to help with batter power
ОтветитьI completely agree with the fact a 42mm Epix would be a no brainer! Especially with the crisp display the Epix offers it would be very easy to see the details even on a smaller 42mm display.
Ответитьlol according to you sure.
ОтветитьBecause of the title of this video, I came here to see what was that reason. However, the video starts with explaining characteristics, which we all already know by heart. I can read those specs on the manufacturer's website. I need your opinion. Not a spec bedtime reading.
ОтветитьFenix 7 looks like a $ 10 dollar watch from walmart 😁 epix looks like a million dollar watch 🙂 thats why i return my fenix 7, and when i go to the movies nobody is watching the movie , everybody is looking at my epix 2🙃
ОтветитьAnother thing that you didn't mention - which I've yet to see any review mention - is that the Fenix is compatible with Garmin's Xero scopes for crossbows whereas the Epix is not compatible with those. Of course, this is pretty much only relevant to hunters.
ОтветитьThe Fenix screen is superior if you want a watch that looks more like a watch than a computer. And Amoled screens on watches give some of us battery anxiety.
ОтветитьHi Chris.
Watched this and your Epix 2 review. Very, very, well presented reviews and I DO get the title, just so confused as what to do.
I'm essentially buying a Garmin to track sports. I often cycle to work, walk A LOT and want to really look at hiking now, hopefully more swimming. The hiking may defo use GPS and the cycling will to better track stats. I do want this mainly as a fitness watch though.
The Epix is a gorgeous screen though but not sure if charging every 5/6 days will be tiresome. But I am not an ultra marathon runner or doing multi-day sport events. These watches are so expensive though and want it to last. One big worry with the Epix is if you use the GPS off and on during the week and already maybe charging every 5/6 days what will the battery be like in 2/3 years? The Fenix is so far ahead in battery it is likely to still be going strong. But at the price it is also nice to have a super nice screen.
I know your happy with the battery of the Epix. Do you feel it's a clear winner and the screen is so good it makes up for the battery's shortcomings? I do appreciate good graphics too and the high resolution will make the screen easier to read and got to the point of needing reading glasses and also thing the Epix looks gorgeous (although liking the true always on of the Fenix and not having to worry about disabling half the features to keep the battery and not worrying about draining it by actually using it!).
Defo giving both your videos the thumbs up. Would be good to have your advice on this. Also, very happy for anyone else comments. Going to post this in your other video as well if that's okay to try and get some quick feedback as ordered both with the sales but have to send one back but don't want to open them as can't afford them both so easier to return new.
Thanks for your great reviews, you did some nice camera work on the Fenix, but making it even harder for me
😛.
Solar capability on Garmin watches is overrated in my opinion. They certainly do not perform enough to justify the price increase. Considering battery life between the Fenix and Epic lines is a significant issue, but I wouldn't opt for the Fenix 7 for solar capability alone.
ОтветитьI got the Fenix 7 and didn't see much point in the epix given the price. Confused by the title of the video. Thought you would say why you actually prefer the fenix and then the conclusion is you don't :P
ОтветитьHi!
I would like to congratulate you for the excellent video.
I am researching 2 watch models just for running.
If money was no object, would you go for the Garmin 255 or the Garmin phoenix 7?
Best regards
alexander
Awesome video - Thank you !
Caution : AMOLED displays have inherent and well know problems ; screen degradation, burn in, pixel loss etc. It may look bright and pretty but roll your dice in terms of screen integrity and longevity ! That pushed me to wanting a Fenix7, but I promptly discovered the list of problems caused by their recent software update, 'version 9.36'. Garmin are aware of these problems but don't have solutions yet ! Great watches but do your homework before spending your hard earned coin.
I love my Epix Gen 2. So, this video isn't for me.
ОтветитьIf you want a flashlight then go for the larger 7X. The LED light on that is bright.
ОтветитьThe fenix 7x sapphire solar watch has a major drawback, the screen in the menu as well as the messages that arrive when the phone is connected to the watch are set to black background and pale blue text (due to the poor finish of the sapphire glass, there is no white color, but pale blue color) and that text is hard to read. There is no option like on older models of garmin watches to change the background to be white or pale gray and the text to be black, which would be more legible. (Inverter color or display color setting). As soon as you sweat a little around your eyes during activities, you can't see clearly, or if you have a smaller (+ eye diopter) for reading, which most people over 40 have the same problem, you strain to read what is written on the screen. Otherwise, the watch is excellently made, but this problem with the screen and the lack of an option to set the background to be white or gray and the text to be black, which is more pleasant and legible for the eye, makes the garmin fenix 7x sapphire solar watch unusable for many people and if not documents in some software update the watch is a complete and utter failure. I found a lot of the same comments in several forums which says that the problem is not innocuous.
ОтветитьWhat about Audible, has epix gen 2 Audible?
ОтветитьI have tactix 7 pro ballistic edition
I hope you review or compare tactix with its light and thank you for the great explanation.
Great review
ОтветитьFenix 5x+ -> fenix 7x Solar Sapphire . I plan to keep it until fenix 9 and the sapphire and titanium ensure it will make it that long.
ОтветитьCurrently scouring all the reviews trying to decide between the Fenix 7 and Epix. My main concern is that, over time, battery performance will drop and this will impact the Epix in a big way as its already quite short. Im swaying towards F7 SS because it will be my main watch for several years to come and i don't want to be worrying about battery drain. The MIP display on my previous Forerunners has been absolutely fine
ОтветитьAMOLED or SOLAR?!? DAM YOU GARMIN, JUST GIVE US BOTH!!
ОтветитьI went for the fenix because I am just very pleased by the look of a transreflective display, expecially in the full sun. It's just more suitable for a watch in my opinion. Epix just feels like strapping a Christmas tree to your wrist and I don't like it.
ОтветитьMake sure the ecg works in your region...
ОтветитьBuilt in torch? You mean I could start camp fires!
Ответитьi got the Epic Gen 2, great solid watch Whitestone casing absolutely brilliant. great battery life for most activities
ОтветитьWhen a man wears his watch on his right wrist then things are serious. Great and informative video. Well done bro 👍
ОтветитьI just bought the 6s Garmin sapphire refurbished love it! Thx for the great video!
ОтветитьFenix looks like shit..
