Ooooooooof he played pre-3.23 right before it released.
Thats just shit luck, honestly.
Absolutely dont blame you for taking a huuuuge step back from the game after that experience. Definitely the buggiest new player experience I've seen anyone go through since like 2018 Star Citizen.
Come back and check it out on your own time, after you have spent enough time away from it for that experience to not immediately sour your perspective on the next one. We just got (after you played) a pretty major QOL patch related to UI and interactivity, and 4.0 later this year promises to be the biggest patch in SC history. Server meshing is progressing fast, and by the end of the year we might actually see servers with decent framrates and NPCs that have brains (maybe).
But it'll still be Star Citizen, and it'll still be buggy and janky. So there's no rush.
It's more than $1B including all funding private and public.
Ответитьas a long time player, I could help you avoid a lot of the bugs you encountered and make sure you have a much better experience. If you want to have someone walk you through it, comment and I'll drop my profile.
ОтветитьDon't feel bad fruit I backed Star Citizen back in 2012-2013 so I have been around since the First bits were playable and I have STILL NEVER COMPLETED A MISSION! something ALWAYS BREAKS! there was a time when the Ship combat was AMAZING (it is NOT now) I am just hoping that they eventually get back there again
Ответитьso how bad is it compared to Elite Dangerous, just asking
Ответитьbro you are just bad and unlucky dont say its a bad game (I never had more than two bugs/h)
ОтветитьHoly crap. I didn't expect you to cover this tech demo! Been following since 2012, bought in 2015, realized I'll never actually have the game I paid for in 2018. Roberts has been focused too much in his pursuit of perfection that his magnum opis became a meme.
Ответитьwait a minute.... did you say that they had/have over 700 million to produce this game? and it's been over 10 years??? this is what you got???? yep, AI is going to take over the world!!! humans are going to land on mars!!!!! wow!
ОтветитьI Wish that 800 mil would have gone instead to the X4 Foundations Devs....
ОтветитьIf you weren't aware, if you've spent over $1,000 on the game, you're shown a new shop page with purchases up to $15,000. And if you've spent over $10,000, you earn the right to buy the $48,000 bundle. Forget microtransactions, these are MEGALITHIC-transactions.
ОтветитьAs a long time star citizen player and backer, this game is jank af. It has the potential to one day be really good, but until it happens thats all it is, potential. I went several grand deep in during my honeymoon period with the game, but havent made any new purchases in over a year. Ive reached the point where Chris wont be getting anymore money from me until i start to see things i actually care about being added to the game, like ai crew or turret blades....
ОтветитьThis was a fun video showing the true new player experience, but I do think that you should've pointed out that you didn't opt to take the tutorial
ОтветитьYea like 95% of it absolutely blows. It's broken and buggy and stupidly designed and reaches hair pulling levels of obtuse and frustrating.
But that 5% is pretty good and scratches an itch nothing else can.
Is it worth the $45 entry fee for a basic start ship? Maybe idk.
A few months ago I would say yes for sure but after CIG suddenly decided to abandon their initial pitch and gut their flight model in favor of some dumbed down 20+ year old super basic stuff maybe not.
Basically if you're on the fence for this game you really need to understand the state of the current game (horribly broken and flawed with baffling priorities but still with potential for a lot of fun) and the mindset/style of CIG and individual development teams (like suddenly essentially deleting a whole profession/gameplay loop because their sloppy implementation from five-ish years ago that they haven't even tried to polish sucks with absolutely no indication that they may try to do better in the future).
🚀
Well this video didn't age well as pretty much everything seen has already changed dramatically.
Ответитьmost people will try star citizen and dunk on it when the developers put most of the effort in the stand alone game before they start pushing major content updates for star citizen so it is incomplete and littered with bugs. it is definitly not a new player friendly game to get into and i would highly recommend finding someone who knows what they are doing to help get you started.
ОтветитьAnd you played it just before a MAJOR update that fixes so many issues. Like the star map. Which is out now.
ОтветитьMark Kerns put it best (love him or hate him): It's a really really cool toy for game developers, has a lot of cool bits and pieces.
It's not a great game though lol.
Bit of a rare ad, one I play but that isn't what set it apart....I've, from memory, never seen a V rising ad....it's also a badass game.
ОтветитьI love SC, but its not for everyone. Whats crazy is this video is already out of date because 3.23 just dropped and changed a lot of things
Ответитьi might have liked this video if the will smith clip wasn’t there near the beginning. that AI generated video stuff is horrifying man.
ОтветитьMynameisjeff
ОтветитьSuch a great game.
ОтветитьI watched Robbaz play this yesterday and it looked horrible. Like absolute garbage. And the AI is... yeah. I'll check again in 10 more years.
ОтветитьAhhhhhh, at first I was like, why is he so bad at gaming, but then … why is a so good at finding these game breaking session overspanning bugs :D
Btw, travel time between the major planets gets down to about 2-5 minutes with upgraded warp drives. And with 13 millions your boy with a trust fund could have just bought that Yacht instead of renting and upgraded it too. :D
And yeah, all those bugs you did find are common enough, but having them all in row of one evening is kinda rare, but maybe that's just because we veterans are better to avoid them. 43 minutes in and I am laughing my ass off. Now this was great content. Seeing someone having this kind of unluck makes everyone else feel better to not be him! :D
Its important to note that the almost $800M ($683,996,523 according to CIG website) raised has developed not only Star Citizen, but Squadron 42, their Star Engine (no its not a CryEngine reskin) and next-gen server tech (server meshing, persistent entity streaming).
ОтветитьI don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard watching one of your videos. Thank you for your service 🫡
Ответитьyeah that's pretty much the average first timer experience
ОтветитьI can tell you skipped the tutorial... I say that because many complaints on basic operation are covered in it, and include shortcuts so you don't have to put up with individual component operations. That said, you did get the idea on how helpful other people can be to newer players.
That also said... many complaints were just addressed in the newest update (3.23), especially the navigation issues for larger ships. The new minimap (and even full map) should help out next time.
EDIT: Oh... and they fixed the elevators. And for the record, my time in the FreeFly, when the game becomes free to play for a week, was equally as buggy. That said, after things calm down, everything is usually fine.
Wow, you had a really bad time with that. I'm a veteran (I guess I can say that), and yes, Star Citizen can definitely be that way. I don't mean to make any claims that it's not just as you experienced, though I will say, you seem to have hit on a really bad load of SC karma there. You CAN actually have sessions that are much better than what you experienced. But yes, all those issues you ran into are indeed part of the game at this point. I do hope that you try it out sometime later and that you can have a session where you don't experience pretty much every bug there is all in one day. It really isn't ALWAYS like that. But again, I won't lie, it can be.
I have my days when I'm very discouraged and cynical about whether SC will ever be the game I thought I signed up for. Honestly, I don't really know anymore. I don't have the unwavering faith that some of the er . . . community members have. I'm pretty sure at some point they're going to have to slash some expectations and get real, but I do still hope the end result will be something fun. Someday. Maybe I'll even still be around to see it. Who knows?
id try playing again when server meshing or whatever its called is implemented finally. supposed to be the big the coming, and the new systems
ОтветитьShould play with levelcap maybe with him explaining something as you play together might make the game alot more enjoyable
Ответитьwe love seeing Aaerios! Such a fun video and loved the editing! Lots of laughs
ОтветитьGet in a jet you're gonna find a lot of keys.
ОтветитьHow long ago did you play it lol this shit never happens to me
ОтветитьFixed? ahahahaha
ОтветитьThis is one of my favorite videos ever..... I can't. Crying laughing
Ответитьstar citizen feels like dark souls for space sims
ОтветитьGrown men that talk like ten year olds. Not entertaining to me.
ОтветитьPlayed for six years until the most recent patch. Its been the straw that broke my back. I just cant get into Master Modes.
ОтветитьI love star citizen, that is all
ОтветитьWhy did yall play BEFORE the huge QOL updates XD
ОтветитьI don't want to talk about how much I've spent on this game...
I just got back into it because of the new UI and FPS overhaul (and because I rewatched Cowboy Bebop) but the update is still hot off the press, so there's a lot of new bugs to figure out right now.
My hype for this game died 5 years ago. Fuck this game.
ОтветитьPart of the ship, part of the crew \o/
ОтветитьAaerios calling the box devil's name only to have it return lol
Ответить
