Proving you don't have to limit yourself to PCIe 3.0 cards if seeking the best possible card for an older PC.

This proves that 4090 should have been pcie 5.0. 4.0 x16 was faster than 3.0x16 so 3.0 was out of bandwidth. Many people are in a situation where their 4090 is running at 4.0 x8. Those people are losing performance. If the card was 5.0 there would be a lot of people running 5.0 x8 and that would be fine, but no

Perhaps testing them on 13900k and 10th gen intel would be more relatable to us consumers as we don't need to know the difference when we've already owning a 13900k right?

TL:DW version: if you have an older motherboard but still a good enough CPU in it and wonder if you need a full system upgrade to use a better GPU, you don't.

So it means pcie 4.0 could be rocked for easily some more years as we have just hit the line with pcie 3.0 and it's negligible so you could use it until your Mobo gets wrecked

Excuse my ignorance, I have a question about the test, where could the author find a motherboard with support for i9 13900k and at the same time an interface for connecting pci-e 3.0 video cards?

Great test. Other testers will be testing this at 1080p like anyone who bought this card will be running it at that rez

pcie 5.0 8x vs pcie 5.0 16x. I would love to see that for a potential nvme gen 5 ssd in the future.

100% within margin of error.....no need for it yet, same when we first got pcie3....
Just market hype.

Bueno, 7 fps a 4K ya es diferencia, es una gran cantidad de información procesada en una fracción de segundo.

So, the Only card that is bottlenecked by PCIe 3.0 is the 4090? or are other cards also benefitting like the RX 7900XTX?

If youve got a b450 era board, dont bother. You can still 5800X3D + 4090 and crush everything at 4k and 1440P. Only at 1080P does it actually make a diff on the CPU/ram for the most part.

It is interesting to see these numbers with only 1-10% differences. I'm would like to see a bit more movement than just running in the field of view, which would test the cpu, card and the transfer rates fully. I have noticed the Spiderman graphics in other demo comparisons are more stuttered when Spidy is swinging causing quicker full scene changes. Lots of motion may be more difficult to duplicate video to video. IMHO

bus saturation in games is generations off. Really only get bus saturation in simulations and the equivalent. The difference in FPS is basically just the signal quality of the bus

Obviously almost no difference for games yet lot of people are so fixated on latest tech and future-proofing which simply doesn't exist when comes to PC hardware.

It doesn't' make much difference now, but this future proofing and progression. Games will get larger and will need to have more data transferred faster . Then the larger bandwidth will start to come into play. Imagine trying to use a PCI 3.0 bus in about 5 yrs with a new AAA game in 2028.
