saying theres always a way to contact or signal emergency services is like saying every episode of I shouldnt be alive or I survived shouldnt exist
ОтветитьI keep it pretty simple. Freeze dryed beef and veggies for dinner, tuna packs for lunch, freeze dryed eggs and bacon for breakfast
ОтветитьI really thought the thumbnail was about cooking next to camp. Is that out dated guidance or do we just all ignore it together?
ОтветитьGreat video, but thought it was going to be about camping, not specifically backpacking, especially since the title said camping.
ОтветитьAmericans and their euphemisms, a bathroom is a room with a bathtub 🛀, i think you mean shithouse.
ОтветитьGreat video reminds everyone to set up correctly, only if in Australia the first thing is look overhead for tree branches that may drop off more so with Australian gum trees, perhaps trees you have where you are are not so bad, cheers and all good..
ОтветитьVery obvious stuff and as such easily over looked.. Very Helpful video, some great tips that I will certainly utilise.. Thank you!
ОтветитьShort toothbrush = good
Short spoon = idiot newb
I like the dehydrated food, light and makes it easy
ОтветитьLeather gloves go a long way for picking up hot pots and moving logs in a fire.
Ответитьdesicator pack can kill you
ОтветитьYou don't know me! There is no such thing as too much food!
ОтветитьYou've never backpackged
Ответитьhandy
ОтветитьFirst rescue I coordinated was a teenager who spilled boiling water on his feet. Blustering burns 17km from the trailhead is a bad day, luckily we were on the icean and able to keep his feet cool until the helicopter arrived. Maks sure your stove and pot are stable!
Ответитьtitanium actually sucks at transferring heat. I just don’t understand the minimal weight savings for how awful titanium is to cook with… But it sounds cool to own I guess. I like thin stainless steel.
ОтветитьReally?? Maybe you should always remember to pack some Midol also. Geez.
ОтветитьI'm a hungry boi tho...
Ответитьbackground music is bad in the beginning.
ОтветитьDoes Emmett use toaks dentures
ОтветитьCan confirm the boiling water tip. My wife spilled a whole pot on her this past summer. Not fun.
ОтветитьWow, thanks for telling me that boiling water is hot, handles will be hot, and to wash my hands. Great content! I would’ve never known.
ОтветитьWhy are all Americans still using a fucking imperial system, Pounds ffs. The rest of the world uses metric.
ОтветитьSo annoying loud music.
ОтветитьA simple thing missing from this is not using a wind shield. Like keeping the lid on, this saves tons of gas/energy.
ОтветитьDid Emmett get to eat?
ОтветитьJust to clarify the thermal conductivity of titanium is around 6.7 W/m-K vs stainless at 15 W/m-K technically titanium is rather poor heat conductor. However, that means that titanium holds it's heat longer. So if you heat up your handles they stay hot. Vs having them stick out they won't heat up as quickly as other metals.
ОтветитьThose tiny pot handles are almost entirely useless for cooking. Use a pot lifter instead.
ОтветитьAlso, u do not want to pourboiling waterinto anything plastic wheatherits a bag or whatever. Due to chemical reactions that heat does to plastic. Rookie mistake.
ОтветитьYeah I’m definitely of the survivalist mindset. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
ОтветитьCan’t ever seem to find these ozark trail spoons and certainly not $1
ОтветитьHow did you get the lawnmower up there in the backcountry? Been looking for a good packable mower.
ОтветитьI rehydrate my food in my pot, those bags are impossible to clean properly and I don’t like to keep any food remnants. I’d rather rinse my pot
ОтветитьAnother tip I have is: Don't bring too many dehydrated foods if you don't absolutely have to.
Most of you will go camping for like a weekend without too much hiking involved. If you go hiking for more than two full days and nights, I'm sure dehydrated foods make sense for some.
Dehydrated food is expensive. Like 5-10 bucks for a small (imo) serving. Depending on how much you eat, a single dinner could be 10-20 bucks right there. You do not need to spend 40-100 bucks for two days worth of food.
Bring fresh food if the weight allows it. It's more fun cooking over a campfire or rocket stove anyways. Cook simple dishes. Pasta with fresh vegetables. Rice with stuff. Couscous is the absolute backpacking dream, it's basically dehydrated carbs and super cheap. Mix it with tomatoes, chickpeas, whatever. Vegetables stay edible for more than a day, even without proper refrigeration.
If you are stationary without a direct water source, weight doesn't even matter at all. Wether you carry the water in bottles or in the fresh produce and whatnot does not matter at this point. Just bring whatever you fancy. Maybe bake a bread. Imagine how cool that would be, I bet your friends never tried that before!
"You sound like a big baby." 100% agree, like youre literally RIGHT in front of it to watch and prevent it from falling lmaoo
ОтветитьTwo tips that I can say are not having fun for your first night or two for dinner. The first night or two for myself, I always try to pack something fun for dinner. Just the other week, I packed steaks and bacon uncooked. Way better when you fry them up in the mountains. I also always end up packing a couple of frozen bottles of water with me in my pack, which helps to keep everything chilled. There is nothing better than ice cold water and something really tasty for the first night or two, depending on the weather.
ОтветитьDan, really appreciate your videos. We're going on our maiden voyage (well, backpack) this month for our anniversary after begging for 10 years. Your videos have helped to prepare us. Thank you.
ОтветитьWhen I was in the Army, while in the back of a deuce an a half on guard duty, the wind blew the truck hard enough to dump a pot of boiling water on my crotch. NEVER AGAIN!
ОтветитьI Love Coffee And Have To Have It Cant Function Without out it. I Always Have Coffee with me And In A Big Coffee Carrier. Dan I Love Your Videos Thank You❤
Ответить5 idiot things that muggles do believing they know it all about everything. New campers would have a greater understanding of the tasks at hand. Probably just an American thing, not the sharpest tools in the shed.......
Ответить🇵🇬🇵🇬, , ,,
Ответитьtitanium is really bad at transfering heat btw
Ответитьit takes more to run a dump truck than a pinto. us bigger boys have to eat!! 🤣
ОтветитьLaughing as I unload 8 pounds of un touched food after a 3 day hike- Was so exhausted each night I didn't want any of it.
ОтветитьIs no one concerned about the boiling water in the plastic bag?
ОтветитьLeave it to Americans to make a lengthy video about eating a ready to go meal. You would think that all of this is common sense. Like, "don't grab the flaming hot pan". Or "wash your hands after pooping".
Ответитьyou touched your hand sanitizer plastic bag with your dirty hands..... .....
ОтветитьDo I need to carry a wind screen with me and how much gas do I really need for a day (breakfast & dinner)?
ОтветитьYeah you want something nice and long alright 😂😂😂 just kidding great video 👍
