Do you feel overwhelmed when decluttering? What are your biggest frustration with it?

I am struggling with letting go of fabric. I have fabric for 7 quilts. I will probably never get to making most of them and frankly I'm burnt out on quilting. But this has happened before. A few years may go by and I'm interested again. Quality fabric is very expensive. As a retiree I may not be able to afford replacing it in a few years. Whenever I think about the bins of fabric, I feel guilty for wasting money and not following through on the plan to make the quilts. They take up space, cause stress and I want to be rid of it all. It sounds like an easy decision but everything I go in to pack it up I make excuses - like the ones above! 😂

I have a lot of knickknacks that I’ve collected over the years, and a lot of them were gifts from my father (he’s been in and out my entire life) so when he bought me something I valued it like it was gold. It wasn’t until a few months ago when I cut ties with him that I began to throw them away. They made me happy but also sad because I knew he was just trying to by my love. I held on to those items thinking I was protecting my inner child, but in reality it was destroying me in the now. I’m still in the process of getting rid of things that “don’t kindle joy” anymore. Thank you for this vid it really helped me get out of my ADHD panic❤

This is probably THE BEST declutterring video out there. Almost every “declutterring” video I clicked on was actually about organizing, and I tried all the tips and tricks and in the end I just felt more overwhelmed.

Hello, this is hard for me to admit. I’m a 25 year old male and it’s super hard for me to clean and maintain a clean house. Not because I’m lazy, but I’m not sure where to start. So when I clean I tend to clean a super small part of my space and hyper organize it. Then the rest of it is still a mess. Help

I have lived on my own for 40 years. The thought of donating o.r throwing away something that is not retrievable terrifies me! I keep everything! I have lost my younger brother, Joe (2007 rip) and just lost my Grandmother, Mabel. Thank the heavens that I did save so much, I have those really special things from the preserved. Everything I have I own. No payments! I am lost a rent home of 10 yrs and fell into a disaster. My mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Dementia. I now provide full time care for all the family. Dad has Alezheimers advancing quickly; and is still working full time at his business. And my other younger brother coming home from his latest vacation in jail due to a meth addiction. I also had to retire our hobby shitzu breeding business. We chose to keep all our pups, they are considered family too. In all 10 dogs are under my care too. I know I am depressed, have OCD, and other junk. All being addressed. I live in a single bedroom in the residence and it is so stuffed with so much of my things that I can't put a bed in there. I sleep in a chair. LOL I know...I know. Getting started, seeing progress, and being able to stay on task feels impossible! My days constantly evolve....due to my situation. I may start with a plan....it changes 2 hours into the day. Sometimes I can return and sometimes my plan falls to the side. Such is life. I want to get organized. Hunting for your underwear isn't a cool way to begin your day. Just sad. And worn out. But keep seeking motivation. And attempting small increments of focus about 20 minutes at a time; which is frustrating in itself due to ever changing schedule (as well as lack of overwhelming knowledge that success won't happen today). I have no clue what the process thread I was using when I can return. 😫. Thanks for the vent. Be blessed.

I'm decluttering my whole room. I'm starting with the small section of the drawers, and is wonderful to see it done in 1 day, as I take my time to go through all. Right now, I have a PlayStation 3 that I no longer use since I bouilt a gaming PC, so I will post pictures today or tomorrow to sell the PS3 & games. That way, I can save up money to buy a GPU or keyboard for the PC

I have watched a lot of decluttering videos many of which seem to be copies of one another and all asked the question “does this item spark joy? “This video does not just regurgitate the same old stuff and is by far and away the most insightful one that I have seen. especially the distinction between decluttering and organizing.

My big frustration is a husband who doesn't think like I do. He can just slam a box "over there" to clear a space but is clueless that he just blocked in all the Christmas boxes I just used for temporary seasonal decor. Now I want to clean and clear but I can't get to the totes marked for Christmas! Everything is just moved from one place to the other for him. No logic to it. 😅😢

What has me holding on to my extra clothes, gadgets etc is the money I spent is now gone and I don’t have time for garage sales and it’s not always safe to sell on FB letting strangers in your home. I have to let go of these things no matter how much I spent on them I guess

Wow, so my first instinct was oh here we go another person who thinks they’re an expert on decluttering and this is a new one. I was going to bypass thinking that I didn’t have enough bandwidth to listen to yet another new decluttering expert but I’m glad that I ignored that cynical voice and listened because Six minutes and I was crying because of how ‘spot on’ this advice was. So I’m chiming in and sharing that confession for anybody else that might feel the same. It’s kind of ironic. Besides being overwhelmed with our clutter it can be a little overwhelming when it comes to who to listen to to help us and I think I just found someone I needed to find.

I couldn’t have found a better video at a better time!! I stay in the frozen mode because I think of my whole house rather than one space. I also feel like o need to organize at the same time as decluttering and as simple as it is I needed to hear the two are different!! I feel I need to buy the bins, the jars, the labels, etc before I declutter and then I will tackle it but I truly just need to declutter right now. 2024 is going to be my best year yet!! Thank you for this wonderful video you are amazing and I’m so happy I found your channel ❤

This is so insightful and especially if you are knee deep in the middle of it, and its hard to recognize the eye of the Storm is truly the place with the most power. Sometimes it takes someone to lift you up to see the bigger picture and the divine order created within the chaos creating lasting change that works with you and for you.

I declutter as I fold clothes. So every time I wash the kids and my clothes I get rid of ripped items, stained clothes or things that are too small for them. I’m going step by step with everything else. I am a bit of a hoarder so it’s been extremely hard to part with things even though I know I’ll never use those items. My parents and grandparents are hoarders so it’s a generational thing I’m working through.
