We all lost our rights in 2020 - around the world. 🌏

Unlimited rights means we all have to trust and believe our fellow people have our best interests at heart and we would have to have their's in our hearts. It's the ideal society. Too bad we are all sinners and not saints, otherwise this might work.
Although we will never reach it, it is the struggle and desire to reach this perfection of humankind that keeps most of us going❣️

It's all about control, it has always been about control.

Its not all or nothing it's tough because it's a balance. No water and you dehydrate, too much water and you drown and in the meantime we're looking for ...balance.
But whenyou have a society the supports "cheating is the only way to win and eliminate all opposition" you have a clear path to self destruction

But when a corporation kills a town full of people by poisoning their water supply they get a fine and a slap on the wrist. But when someone goes out and does a mass shooting they get life in prison or the death penalty. Why aren't corporations held just as accountable for their actions especially since they fought for their company's to be known as people

Unfortunately Mr. Carlin is dead. I really would like to see him realize how right he was about everything.

Washington DC resides on ceded land from the USA, effectively becoming a City/State. They tell you everyday...you just don't have the education to recognize it.

Carlin was great at propping up strawmen and then crushing them. I know people just love him, but he was full shit.

In America, the idea of God given rights means any attempt to infringe on them must be stopped. The idea of God given also puts responsibility on the citizens, not just privilege. It means the people have a duty to stand up to tyrants trying to play God.
That's why 1 and 2 are speech and guns. That's the right to voice your opinion and defend yourself.
Also his statement about the right to food and housing that God "forgot" is another strawman. An obvious one. Food and housing require labor and materials. Having a "right" to someone else's labor is the path back to slavery.
It's because of people like Carlin that these very simple, base level principles are so misunderstood by the average person.

I hope you, and your family are doing ok, given the current situation. I wish there were something we could do to stop what's happening, but as George pointed out, we're all kind of at the mercy of our governments, and their ambitions.

“Cross your heart and hope to die?” That was whats kids said in my day.

I've always loved George, but you have to really listen to the argument. There is a difference between rights, privileges and RULES. We have rules for living civilly together such as "keep your hand off my significant other", don't kill people whenever you feel like it, etc. Those are rules of civilization that have been honed and handed down for thousands of years probably going back to before the invention of language. Animals have social rules so they can get along in groups. Also, the 10 bill of rights are amendments to the Constitution which actually set out some rights and privileges and the structure of how our government would work, so the argument that different countries have different amounts (while somewhat true) is not due to the situation he described. Still, it is an entertaining monologue and can spark a lively conversation.

I got to see him perform live back in the 1980's (I am old), he was amazing on stage.

The older I get the more I'm convinced of another side. Is it a God side I don't know but there's definitely a spirit world. I've seen too much to deny it to myself. Where there's smoke there's fire. "so help me god" is the King's instruction to you to tell the truth, because only god can help you if you lie. Today lying in court is normal. Perjury is not punished by the King's sword on the back of your neck.

Police can’t lie like they used to anymore because of police cams they must wear when on duty, which is great. Made things better, imo

Anything that can be taken away is not a right.

As for control... We only need to be controlled because we're forced into positions where criminality is necessity, and government is oppressive and cruel. In a society where no one is hungry there would be far less criminal behavior to be controlled. Less hunger means less theft, and less bigotry as there is nothing to blame on any groups. Tension also decreases which cuts down violence and even overall mental health. A society without worry requires no control.

That was not wisdom guys. Carlin was funny, but he fundamentally misunderstood the entire topic and he was as nihilistic as a person can be.

Rights are innate, immutable and cannot be taken away. You can be sent to prison, so liberty is not a right, you can starve so food is not a right, life is the only thing that legally and morally nobody has the right to take since the death sentence has been stopped.

So what rights do you have, really? If somebody can take it away, it is NOT a right.

They can draft you, call you up and make you fight or serve. So independence, self determination all the things you think are rights, are actually privileges.

Just try walking away from society, see how far you go before society forces your compliance with it's conditions. So much for freedom, so again, what rights do you have?
