For the last two days I've been trying to figure out how to get my new clone to boot on my SSD I didn't realize all I had to do was to unplug the old hard drive and turn the computer on to let the new SSD boot up. Saved me a trip to the computer repair shop

That may not be the problem and the new ssd already be in the correct boot order....

Your tool is not actually cloning the original disk. It's imaging the disk partitions.
A true clone would create both partitions byte for byte the same way they are configured on the original disk.

Your problem was easy to fix using the Samsung tool as all you had to do was tell it to image both partitions on the original disk.
And note that they are in reverse order compared to the original disk.
Probably the drive letter is stored in the partition table for each partition, and having imaged both partitions the two drives have the same partition information, so just booting off the ssd would allow it to run as the system disk and thus be labeled drive C.

The question is what letters do the partitions on the WD drive get when your PC boots off the SSD and uses it as the system partition source when the WD partition tables are now a duplicate of the SSD partition tables? I suppose that the OS will re-assign the WD partitions to new letters.

Hey man. This was really helpful. Just remember that, even if you've less subscribers, just know that you were more helpful than most big channels. Thank you 🙏

I cloned it all correctly from hdd to ssd, but my pc now and again will change its boot order to the original hdd causes errors, I can go into f2 bios and change the boot order to put the ssd as a priority but then if I download something or update Windows the boot order will change again causing errors, it also happens at other times for reasons I don't know of,

all I'm asking is there a way to make your bios stop changing the boot order of your hardrive devices?

And is ther a way to reverse the cloning process so I can go back to using my old hdd?

I just inserted a samsung 970 plus NvME ssd in my system and cloned the original samsung evo 850 but the windows partition does not show on the new ssd yet it says it was successful. I use windows 11, and according to samsung they do not advise cloning an ssd to an Nvme as the registry is different and can cause issues. They advise a clean install.
