When you start to cook the sausages, add 1/2 inch water to the pan. Keep watching it and adding water when it dries up. Then let then "crisp" at the end.

Things are all fine and dandy until you have to 1v1 the local skinwalker.

Joking aside, thanks for taking me on the adventure with ya!

If you have to have it right in the fire like that, put a couple inches of water in there, boil it till they look cooked, take out almost all the water and fry... or if you have a cover then cover it and only put in a cup or so, steam it then uncover and fry. (I do this every morning in my house)

Sausages are cooking too fast... burnt on the outside, raw on the inside. Hold your plate further from fire for a slower simmer.

I would cut the sausage and cook them higher (elevate pan)over fire so it isn’t too hot too fast. Great video!

Boil the sausages first to cook them through, then put them on a skewer over the coals, (not the flames), use the same water to make the noodles and get some sausage flavour in them! lol When talking about keeping your feet warm, the bottle is a nifty idea. I carried a pair of socks with warmers, and changed into them at night. They worked pretty good, kept my feet toasty on low.

The fire is too hot for that thin pan. Cast iron would be better but it's heavy to carry. Cooler fire, long slow cooking. When the water cooks off add a little oil or grease of some kind. Slow cook. Good luck.

Hi Josh
I suggest you cook or grill your sausage when the flames settle , meaning on burning wood without flames and raise your pan a bit, don’t put it directly on flame.
Good luck
Keep it up
Love your videos

Yeah if you let your fire burn down to coals I mean nothing but coals then hold your hand about 6 inches above the coals to the count of 6 without burning your hand then it's ready to cook on those sausages will cook slow and golden brown the best you will ever eat ....🌲🏕🔥

Take the sausages out of the casings and scramble. But you should have a tiny bit of oil.
I don't like the water method because they get chewy.

I watch a guy called Simon a bloke in the woods, he has this small grate three or four by six inches, he cuts a slice in a stick and puts the grate in it and cooks steak and sausage on it a little higher from the fire, for me I get a little char on the sausage then I wrap them in foil and put them up above the fire and it works like an oven and cooks the inside.

Great video, and good to see u again. Like some of the others mention do them with water and brown them afterwards, #2, if u can put your pan 6 to 8" above the Colts and it should be ok, #3 can also cut it chunks cooked with water when just about done pour a little bit more water and your noodles and I promise you will like it.
PS: Any good sausage will complement and enhance the test of any soup or noodles or even potatoes, in other words almost anything.
Good luck! ❤

Ohhhhhh man I wish it didn't take me this long to see this video hahahaha DUDE ! you have a hard time with sausages? but you can cook a great steak.... the sausages are the opposite of steaks, you need to cook them slowly, if you cook them fast the fat will come out and burn like you had in the video, try with a lower heat. I like to use the little folding grill we both have for that so you can move them around easy to get hotter or a cooler spot by the fire.
But other than the sausage cooking skills the video was great as always, good to see the shack stood up to the test, and out of all the camps I saw built on YT the only one that might be better than yours was TA outdoors, but that guys like a robot, everything he does is perfect lol
Great video as always buddy, I hope everything is good with you and the family, Cheers !

Most of the comments here are really helpful Josh in cooking sausages. Put the sausages in a pan, pour some water and let it simmer until the water dries up. By this time the sausages are already cooked and you just let the oil in sausages fry them further until golden brown. Then enjoy!

Thank you for sharing and interacting with your viewers. God bless you Josh with good health and protection.

You should boil your brats for about40-45 minutes until fully cooked & then get a gill to put over your fire and you won't have that problem of burning your pan

The best wayto cook the sauasages is to boil them prior to browning them or to simmer in the skillet with water half way up the pan and let the water cook away.

Thaw the sausages out over the fire gently enough to be able to slice them down the middle in half. Then it’s much easier to flip them..one side to the other. Opposed to trying to flip a circle lol

Slice the sausage either in pieces or slice it in half lengthwise. Next time bring a can of Armor Treet has less salt than Spam dice half in your noodles have the other half for breakfast. In the field before you got to the woods pick some wild onions for a mild flavor.

Sausage or bratwurst cooking tip: The day before camping place sausages, sliced yellow onion, and beer in covered sauce pan and let marinade 24 hours in the fridge. Camping day: Drain sauce pan and pack sausages/onions in ziploc bag for travel (keep them cold, obviously). Cooking: Boil sausages/onions in beer and reduce to simmer for 30 minutes. Options: You can serve them now, or if you'd like a light crunch, put them over a fire for a minute or so on each side. Both sausages and brats go good with the onions and yellow mustard on a toasted hot dog bun, or also add sauerkraut for pro level dining in the woods (easy to pack kraut in a sandwich bag and bring along). I'm trying to rearrange my schedule to go camping next weekend... and just might add brats to the dinner menu plan. Good to see you getting out and enjoying snow camping. Cheers! Pete - KI7LIL

Glad to see that your shelter withstood the storm!
If the sausage is pre-cooked, just add abit of water to the pan and put the pan ABOVE the fire (low heat), that should reheat it without burning.
