Years ago the famous fabric street was Borovic. The store I stopped at as as huge as the ones in LA. It was providing all the fabric for a Smash London Theater show.
Ответитьhi, do you know where i can find some wool fabric for a coat, close to soho or something like that?thnks
ОтветитьPlease reconsider your use of background music while you are speaking. I'm not talking about the unavoidable ambient street sounds of this particular presentation. I have to fight the music to understand you. Am I the only one?
ОтветитьShe is from another planet. I love her so much ❤
ОтветитьRewatching this right before my trip to London and Goldhawk Road in a few days. I'm so exited, and this video is such a good way to hype myself up even more!
ОтветитьI wish I had any idea where to find only a single one shop like that...
ОтветитьOk totally agree with your impulse buying strategy!
ОтветитьBernadette: Can we get tweed?
Also Bernadette: No, we have tweed at home.
I think you might like the Los Angeles Fabric District. I don’t think we have a lot of heavy wools but there are a lot of nice cottons, linens, and silks that you would like.
Ответитьi wonder how Bernadette would react if she was at the Brás district in São Paulo 🤔🤔🤔
Ответитьhmmm.... very neat hand writing....
* i love those cursive style.....
sadly most of us learn those boring BLOCK writing style.....
Just came back to this video a year later as I'm in London for a few days, and I'm heading out to goldhawk Rd tomorrow thanks to this vlog!
ОтветитьJesus loves you
ОтветитьI wish there was a fabric store in my area. ANY fabric store.
ОтветитьBring a lighter and ask to burn a sample, you should see if its wool or plastic.
Ответить100% rewatching this video because I'm visiting the UK and our own Lady Bernadette has granted all the information I need for supplies to make a sewing project in memory of my trip :D
ОтветитьI loved this video. I grew up in a Victorian house on a road just off of Goldhawk Road and used to go to all of the fabric shops with my Grandmother. It was so nostalgic for me and conjured up lots of long forgotten memories. Thank you. There used to be a fabric shop in Shepherds Bush Market that was piled high with roll upon roll upon roll of fabric. Dave's I think. You could barely move around the shop for the sheer quantity of fabric rolls. It was dusty and smelt of fabric dye. Totally chaotic. Totally wonderful. I hope it's still there.
ОтветитьYou have the perfect voice and vocabulary to record Jane Austen novels. Just saying. Particularly whilst dressing the part.....or you could make a Jane Austen you tube channel.....oops getting carried away, methinks you have an elegant sufficiency of enoughness where your workload is concerned.... thanks for your videos, they are different, interesting and make me smile.
ОтветитьYay! I'm glad London's working out.
I'm sorry about the skirt. It's beautiful though.
I picked that shopping habit up from my dad. I've missed out on so much. It's O.K. :)
But, meters?
Ugh, pure linen (just plain, bleached white linen) is $50/meter in my medium sized city in Northern BC. So frustrating!
ОтветитьNot sure if you're any nearer East London than West but Walthamstow is full of fabric stores - again, mostly fashion fabrics but there is a big mix across the shops and it's dead cheap. I've almost never not found what I needed there!
ОтветитьYou should definitely check out Fan New Trimmings if you haven't already. It's on the other side of Oxford Street from the Berwick Street shops, and it's a trimmings heaven 😍
ОтветитьLiberty of London Regent Street is THE BEST place for cotton & linen. Indeed any fabric & a definite bucket list trip. While not the cheapest they have the best quality, & they have the best sales.
ОтветитьIs it worth buying it in London since you have to fly home with it? How are the prices compared to shops closer to home as well as what you can find?
ОтветитьYou should consider visiting Melin Tregwynt in Wales. They sell Welsh wool and it is absolutely beautiful. Nothing like you will have every seen before.
ОтветитьI’d love to see Bernadette make a nightgown & robe
ОтветитьGreat video. 😍😍😍😍
ОтветитьI lived just off of Goldhawk rd
ОтветитьFor a trip out and future video, I would recommend Heathcoat Fabric factory in Tiverton. Amazing Victorian factory with hundreds of fabrics for sale, plus go to nearby Knighthayes Court (built by the factory owner) and see totally OTT Victorian Gothic splendour inside and out!
ОтветитьBernadette, I literally live here and always wondered why there are so many fabric shops
ОтветитьUmmmmmm Google why you using my location to recommend videos... please stop ✋
ОтветитьDid you move to London?
ОтветитьI end each day with a video from Bernadette Banner. I am not sure why I love you so much Bernadette, but I really do. You are a TREASURE and I love your uniqueness, I love your dedication to living life on YOUR terms and I love that you are not a slave to the fashion magazines telling you what is fashionable. You decide what is fashionable and beautiful - as we all should. I think its that inner light that comes only from being a truly authentic and kind individual that is so engaging.
ОтветитьI feel very proud when I saw two of the stores are for Arabs. selling fabric is the main business we Arabs do for many centuries and still nourished by our dealers all over the world.
ОтветитьHonestly Bernadette, you are SUCH a tweedy bird.
ОтветитьHow expensive is it yo live in london?
ОтветитьHave you ever made a ephod?
ОтветитьI showed the laptop bit to my 9-year-old and you blew his mind 😂
ОтветитьMay I suggest southhall if you ever need Indian or Pakistani or Bangladesh style fabric
ОтветитьAs someone who's lived on Goldhawk Road, may I just lol at the lofty appellation of 'London's Fabric District'.
ОтветитьHi! Just wanted to thank you for BEAUTY of your content and your approach to life in general. I should mention that you bring a sense of reasonable order into my day. Let amazing things (material and intangible ones) find you at perfect time and place.
ОтветитьHow did Cesario fare with the flight? Was he separate or did u have him under your seat? {I have a bunny and am really nervous to put her on a plane}
ОтветитьI wish Acorn TV was available in Iceland but unfortunately they do not - I do have though quite a few DVD's from their collection that I've bought in the past but I hope they will open their streaming service to more countries soon.
Ответитьas a sorority woman (being from a small chapter we sew all of our letters) it is very good that I didn't know about London's fabric district when I went there on a school trip a few years ago. Also I would love to see you make at least one "historical" outfit that's made out of fun and totally ahistoric fabrics, just for fun
ОтветитьThere's also a pretty good batch in Southall on/around the Uxbridge Road. When you see all the sari shops, you're there.
ОтветитьPassing on a tip - I was told by the wonderful ladies at Misan West that Aldi's and Lidl have Christmas special sales on things like sewing machines and sergers. And if I saw one there to definitely get it because it would be cheaper.
ОтветитьI hope you can pop over to Edinburgh at some point. There are some amazing wool fabrics to be found in Scotland!
Ответить
