I still don't get why you would use mesh over standard APs. If you need to run a network cable up to it for power anyway, why not just continue that wire to the network closet and run APs? Serious question.

I appreciate all the videos I've seen on how to open a box and how to mount the devices. But there is no information on how to set up the network what switches you need how to set it up on a computer etc. After asking a lot of assistance from friends including someone in the security alarm industry no one can figure all the different devices needed and computer set up. We'll that is not entirely true. I'm making some headway but the common denominator is 90 % can open a box mount the hardware and plug in a device to the wall. So how about a video for the non tech savvy from start to finish on setup with explanations on all the PoE. SSID and so forth.

Have an rv park using uap ac m pro aps
We have 900mbs service. 7 wireless aps go to one wired on clubhouse roof pointing downhill to the 7 aps. Would a uap ac HD be a better choice for the wired ap the other 7 transmit to? Is it outdoor.rated?
What program can you use to check signal strength at each ap?
Thx

Hi Chris , you forgot to talk about the latency. Meshing increase a lot the latency. Also meshing it’s not the best solution when you have high density like in stadium. Using it for the backyard is perfect :)

Okay so 2.3 Minutes in and one question is answered. Mesh is wireless only. I DON"T wan't that. I have a Ubiquity Unifi Lite and a larger Pro "round" AP's. I want them 100% to BOTH to be hard wired into the network, both for POE, and for DATA, but I need them to talk togeather and create one single SSID for Wifi, then if I add another later, it will just be a AP with the same SSID again just to better cover. Private home, just very large, over 5,000 Square Feet. What do I do to make them all hard wired, and have only one SSID?

I am surprised Unifi was not sued yet for calling this a "mesh". It is not really a "mesh" network. Unifi APs can only have one uplink. They work more like AP-Client/Repeater functionality which is found on normal APs.

Nice video as always. Just a question: you say that if you plug an Ethernet cable into a mesh unit it will work as a classic AP... So do classic APs have "mesh capabilities" when a wifi device moves among them?

I'm curious on the mesh pro... It says 183 meters or about 600ft of coverage. Would that be a point to point? Like 600ft radius and 1200 ft diameter because it is omnidirectional? If it is only 600ft of coverage total, 300ft in each direction, it would seem odd because it can handle...I'm not sure it was over 100 connected devices, that would be a lot of devices in a small area.

Wayyyy too many laptop wifi modules are horrid. I've upgraded many, though HP won't let me fix my own laptop, due to the BIOS "white listing" only a couple of poor performers. It's really pretty sad when $20 will buy a 2x2 MIMO AC module that will scream.

Should I got for the small mesh device or should I just add another AP AC Pro?

Any chance of an update using 6.2.26 unifi controller.

I'm struggling to get mine to mesh

Setup - I have a standalone event trailer with a static Ip setup and Internet access via a 4g router. The 4g router has an SSID that ends SR - and supplies wifi access to a single PC in the trailer.
I then have AC-M with a sector antenna wired into that switch, and it has an SSID ending LR.
When I try and deploy a second AC-M it just fails adoption - and I've no idea why. These remote AC-M's will be accessed by laptops to send data back to the trailer network. On the PC in the trailer I have an FTP server running (Filezilla) I have managed to get a camera with a WiFi attachment to detect the LR SSID, and login and FTP images back from around 400m (well beyond the stated range) however try as I have to get the second AC-M to be part of the setup it fails.
If I try with a laptop, it see's the LR SSID, and can login, but there the fun stops. Any attempt to use a FTP Client on the laptop doesn't go anywhere and I don't think its a FTP issue as the log file doesn't show the laptop failing, it just sits there idle

Any help much appreciated

There is nothing showing in the device Wireless area option as you showed in the controller. It would be great help if you could re-make this video on latest controller and device firmware versions.
Thank you for the great help.

Does anyone have any tips (or links) on how to configure security to prevent someone unplugging the LAN cable from the AP and into a laptop giving them access to the network. I'm thinking some form of VLAN config with 802.1x for clients using WiFi but I cannot get my head around the settings for the physical connection.

Do these mesh APs work in reverse for the wire? I know some mesh solutions turn the wired connection into an uplink so you can get a device that doesn't have wifi (i.e. a desktop computer, etc) onto the network.
