Gender Differences in Communication

A man's brain is like a meat cleaver and a woman's brain is like a Swiss army knife.

While these rules are generalizations they are often good at explaining behaviour the sexes find perplexing about eachother. I for example find that I often can have the typical male style of communication, but then when I try to explain something or "tell about it just to say it", I find people (guy friends more often) give me advice (which was never solicited) leaving me with a feeling of confusion and like the person is talking down to me. Other times, pouring your heart out and getting advice like "ok, you need to..." really helps and makes me feel like the conversational partner is listening and cares. Sometimes, we just want sympathy and I think that it actually can be good to occasionally ask the person we are talking with "do you need advice or do you just need to talk about it", talking about here being to be more affirmative/supportive/giving sympathy. A comic strip where one girl is complaining to her friend that her boyfriend "just wanted to solve the problem" illustrates this difference/the desired function of conversation very good so obviously this happens in real life.

False statements. Men and woman are not different due to their brains. Environments play a big part also. You meet women you swear are like guys and vice versa. Guys can use both side as woman can use on side.

Putting fix in quotes.. Denotes a nice level of bias.

um, Women aren't smarter and their IQ variance is smaller, also, women's brains generally are better at multitasking while men are better at focusing.
