Have you tried more rounded motions. If so. how do you do that? To me, sometimes, these straight linear motions can be too unnatural.

Great tips here. You can also try animating the anchor point. The anchor point position is [relative] to the layer. Position is an [absolute] measurement and is relative to the frame boundary. When you're panning and scaling (and rotating), sometimes, it can be easier to animate the anchor point instead of position. Then you can use a combination of scale, position and anchor point (and rotation). Try moving the anchor point like a target, landing over the area you want to focus on - then rotation and scale will be centered on this target. This happens a little bit differently when animating position - you might have to coordinate the scale and position to target the desired part of the frame (as seen in the video). Try it and see which you prefer.... I think both ways are valid. I find the latter easier.
