I agree entirely with the reasons for purchasing Tiguan. I, too, have a year old Tiguan, and till date, there are no complaints ( touch wood). Let's wait and watch a long term usage.

Its an amazing engine. I have new skoda kodiaq and its an awesome car.

Its the Koreans that does it, never Japanese.
Japanese are masters of Gasoline IC engines made in this planet, be it a motorcycle, car, boat propeller, generator, lawn mover, bush cutter, pressure washer, what not......ie why they tops at USA. Almost 45 % of Europe cars are Diesel, coz thay makes good Diesel engines, cars and trucks.
No wonder Honda held the S2000 WR for 10 freaking years, until Ferrari marginally crossed it, Even in F1 they are the best engine providers !!

Huh Yes, you won't get the built quality & insulation in a Japanese car coz, more the total mass, more its difficult to stop it & less fuel efficient & reliable the engine would be in long run......simple physics . Yes you would be safer in a German after a collation, but you won't deal with a collation in a Japanese coz it just stops better. That's the difference b/w a sedan/ hatch & SUV (so called). BTW VW all wheel drive (4 motion) only provide 40% to rear wheels which is most of the time useless in off-road, yes in road it works (drag race)

DQ200 or DQ381 DSG gearbox? Dry or wet clutch? Plush ride? Stiff suspension?

Are you facing clunking/thud noises from the front suspension over speed breakers and depressions in the road ? I have the same car bought in December 22 and am facing these issues. No solution from VW yet. Helpful if you can share feedback.

I have a Tiguan that has done 7000km . The only problem with this car is that after 3/4 hours of nonstop driving specially on hill drive the steering column starts to vibrate and it gets worse as you drive on. After resting for a couple of hours if you start driving again the sound disappears . But after 3/4 hours again the vibration and sound reappears
