I love nautical. I lived in Chicago for 8 years. I had nautical year round BECAUSE Lake Michigan is so big, it reminded me of the ocean and there were boats and sandy beaches or shores. Nautical can be lake living. Add warm cozy throws in a little darker beach colors. Besides, those long dark hours need brightening up. Enjoy.

Bethany, as you were glueing the wood pieces I agree they need more to support them to make it easier to move. Put several pieces of cardboard boxes beneath your project. Glue the pan to it before adding the wood pieces. You can also turn the pan upsidedown trace it, then glue the same rope inside the line. You then have more surface to glue to on the sides at the the bottom and then again on the surface of the cardboard and the bottoms of the wood pieces. You could also use more than one piece of cardboard for additional stability. When all the wood pieces are glued on, cut the cardboard around them using an exacto knife or utility knife of some kind. Extra cardboard beneath the piece you've glued to will protect your work surface. You can add rope or shells to cover the edge of the cardboard.

You could have put nautical rope around the bottom and then glued the logs to the top and the bottom of it. That might help it’s a little bit better. Another one nautical rope on the bottom probably wouldn’t stay very well but if you glued it and then glued the ends together and then all the logs were there and they were glued to both the top and the bottom rope it might help your hole better. Also using a pie pan you could use a cake pan and the sides would be more straight and easy vertically one and stay better
