Swamiji makes a fundamental mistake. He does not distinguish between "religion" and "dharma." They are not the same. Religion properly refers to only three ideologies -- Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. They are "god" centric: a god who creates the world, then puts humans in it, then makes laws for humans, then notes whether or not humans have obeyed his commands, and finally rewards or punishes them according to his whims.

The dharmas are different. In the Sanatan Dharma, there is only one ultimate reality -- Brahman. The world is Brahman. Brahman does not create the universe; the universe is Brahman. We are part of the universe and therefore we (and everything else) are Brahman.

So "Tat tvam asi" -- you are that -- is an expression of the unity of reality. Aham Bramha -- I am the Bramha. -- is another way of expressing that truth.

Swamiji should also stop with the nonsense about "all religions teach the same thing" and equate the Dharmas with the teachings of monotheism.

All the Dharmas teach the same thing; all the religions teach the same thing. But what the religions teach is definitely not what the dharmas teach.

If deep sleep is self annhilation (in relative terms) what is Türya in relative terms? Can you attain it unilaterally and without reference to the seen? And why are only the first three states experienced automatically and involuntarily but not the fourth?
