ОтветитьHow well would it work for xcode and simulator? I need a mac for my iOS developement class, we are just using the books provided by apple
ОтветитьLuke Thank you for the info. I bought a macbook pro 2012. I followed your upgrade video. 2 TB using striped RAID, 16gb Ram. BUT my computer shuts down after a few minutes running on the new battery I put in. I tried SMC reset and everything online. Any advice? Thanks
ОтветитьWhat is the intro bgm
ОтветитьLook at all those ports, ...
D*mn, dawg ...
Macbook pro 2012 is like a small sweet house with all furniture complete and fancy
And the newest 2016-2019 macbook pro is like a huge house with no furniture, no paint what so ever, but with a sport car in the garage... Just... Feels empty.. those thunderbolt ports sure fast but need third parties stuff to work for today.
I’m still rocking my mid 2010 Mac book pro that I bought 9 years ago. Upgraded the 4GB ram to 8GB and put in a 512GB Samsung 860 pro SSD. Performs better now than it ever has!
ОтветитьI hear that Mojave slows down this MacBook Pro 2012 13" model in a very bad way. Please, how true is this???? I am still running mine on Sierra and would like to do an upgrade but I just don't want to move up to an OS that will spoil my experience.
ОтветитьI' m pretty sure that in 2022, we' ll be paying $3,000 for what you can get from a windows laptop for half the price.
ОтветитьGot mine for 300 it’s a late 2012 right now 13 inch core I 58 gigs of ram 128 SSD works perfect for my first year of college and music production
ОтветитьAn SSD M2 can be installed on the MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)?
ОтветитьJust bought one few days ago upgraded it to ssd installed office 2019 and what can i say IM LOVIN IT
ОтветитьYour an idiot, 16GB and 1TB SSD barely compliments the other hardware. If it would accept 32gb of ram, I’d spend $100 to get it and upgrade. You really don’t understand how computer hardware works do you?
ОтветитьLuke it will now be updated through 2022
ОтветитьI’m a professional photographer and wanting to get this because my iMac 2012 just broken and was wondering if Is it run smooth on adobe photoshop and Lightroom basic photo editing?
Ответитьmine runs awesome with an SSD and 8gb of ram! i love it. only thing it needs is a new battery and new trackpad
ОтветитьCan it run chrome?
ОтветитьAxx
ОтветитьI bought my mid-2012 MBP 13" new in 2014 specifically to be able to run Mavericks. Marco Arment mocked this model relentlessly as a hopelessly antiquated laptop for Apple to be selling as late as 2016 (which means you can still find some relatively 'new' editions of this model).
I've been delighted with it especially as the new models came out with far fewer ports and less upgradeability. They say once you go Retina you can never go back, but I've never had it so this display is perfectly wonderful for me. With every OS upgrade my display actually got sharper and clearer!
I upgraded to 16GB RAM a few years ago and I have been waiting for SSD prices to come down, which they have. I haven't upgraded the 500GB spinning HD yet and Mojave is the first time that has really hurt. The system now freezes from time to time, I assume for disc swaps.
I'm delaying upgrading to Catalina until the SSD upgrade. Pointless to do otherwise.
Watching this on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13", running MacOS Catalina like a champ.
ОтветитьI just found your channel today and I am now subscribed, I am a budget mac shopper myself, will definitively be watching your videos about upgrading. I was given a mid 2010 iMac a couple years ago which I upgraded to 8GB RAM and an SSD, it worked so nice that I decided to buy a budget macbook pro, i got a mid 2012 model with 8GB RAM and a 500GB HDD, which I should probably upgrade to an SSD since I just upgraded the OS to Mojave and I noticed it takes a bit longer to boot up now. Thanks for the great content, I am enjoying!
ОтветитьWatching on my 2011 13" i5 model.... which I love. I just replaced the battery and am testing that out today... along with seeing how well the Ram upgrade from 4GB to 8GB is working out.... so far not bad for around $65 for the battery and ram... if this works out for a while, I will likely pick up a 500GB SSD for another $60ish investment, and hope this thing plugs on for quite some time.... running on Sierra 10.12.5 and see no reason that I need anything newer for what I do. So far, the display on this older computer is just fine for my old eyes and usage...Don't notice a huge difference when using my other Apple, or any other displays .
I also have a 2013 15" with Retina, SSD, i7, etc.... and am NOT looking forward to the day that battery craps out... also, the lack of ports on the newest machines is a let down....and I am one of the rare people who still use the CD drive, having to use an external on newer models doesn't seem super appealing....but the time will come that I eventually have to go that route. Oh well, I will enjoy the hell out of my 2011 model for as long as possible, and might look into getting some more 2011-2012 machines in the future just because.... for general computing they're great machines.... I don't do gaming on my laptop, nor anything super demanding, so the specs and performance is fine.... I will save gaming for Playstation, and any hardcore computing will likely happen on a dedicated desktop machine.
Thanks for the video.
Awesome video, I love this model just picked up one myself and looking for upgrades after watching this video, Thanks for the idea and review on this model. I upgraded my MBP 13in's RAM to 8GB and got a 250GB SSD and also replaced the battery. Will be trying out the HDD caddy to switch out the CD plus using a SD Card adapter to TF card so I can plug in my 256 GB TF card for more added storage. Also running my MBP on macOS Catalina.
ОтветитьShould i get mid 2012 non retina or 2013 macbook retina. Or any retina. Would upgrade mid 2012 non retina. Want a reliable macbook. For vid editing music production and general browsing etc.
ОтветитьYou said the macbook pro 2012's screen can be replaced for $60? Do you have the link to it? My LCD is broken :( Please and thank you
ОтветитьThe only reason they stop supporting the macs that can easily still be updated is to try to force people to upgrade.
ОтветитьI never recognized the intro until I rewatched this. My jazz choir group is doing that song!
Ответитьcan someone help me

ОтветитьHi Luke it is worth upgrading my MacBook retina 15.4 pro with new ram , ssd drive and battery about $500 quoted at $500. Please let me know your feedback. Thank You
ОтветитьYou've way overpaid for yours I've paid just shy of 150 bucks for mine and yes it was in mint and working condition and already had 4GB ddr3 installed and Mac OS high sierra at the time
ОтветитьTHis unibody one is the best design ever on a macbook pro
ОтветитьI know this is an old video now so I'm not sure if you will still be checking the comments Luke but the entry level 2012 unibody was actually still on sale until 2016 through the education store. As a result given apples 7 year support stipulation does that not mean that mean apple could potentially continue to support this particular model until 2023?
ОтветитьI never knew it was MacBook 💻💻💾💾 Mojave
ОтветитьAnyone here with this MacBook running Mojave with no issues?
ОтветитьMy wife is on a 2012 MBP with an i7, 240GB SSD and 8GB memory. Runs as good as any modern Mac and a hell of a lot better than any Windows PC. Unless you are doing 4k video editing its as good as a modern machine and better in some ways. (upgradable, more ports etc.)
ОтветитьHello Luke! What's your opinion about Catalina OS?
ОтветитьMy brother gave me this Mac this week. Would it be a waste to upgrade the ram to 16gb and put in a ssd?
ОтветитьJust got one with a busted screen for free from my cousin, prepping it to be my daily driver as an upgrade from my similarly powerful Windows laptop.
ОтветитьHi Luke, your channel is great! I purchased a mid 2012 13" a few weeks after schools started closing down. After a couple upgrades (16 GB ram, 500 GB SSD), its been my go to for editing videos for my students. Much better to use than the iPad for iMovie. Thank you for your videos and I look forward to watching more of them.
Ответитьwhat about Catalina? What's your opinion?
ОтветитьI know you posted this like a year ago but I ended up getting mine stock but in like new condition for $200.00, a 500GB Western Digital SSD for $65.00 and the 16GB of DDR3 1600MHz ram for $40.00 new. All together about $300.00 for this nice little setup
Ответитьhello bro, based on your oppinion, what is the best os for macbook pro 13 2012.?
ОтветитьI’m watching this on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13 and it works great, I upgraded it to 16gb ram. Yes, in 2020.
ОтветитьI just got a 2012 13 Inch mackbook pro for $ 325.00. With the I5 processor. not a scratch on it, and even dust free on the inside with only a trace of dust on the fan, witch I blew out with a can of air. I upgraded it to 16 GB ram and a samsung EVO 860 ssd, installed Catilina and its is super fast and works perfect and will probably be suported for a while yet.I am happy with this macbook pro. thw keyboard and track pad are awsome its got a 281 battery cycle count.I subscribed to your channel.
ОтветитьI love it
Ответитьplease upload a video instructions on how to upgrade Macbook Pro mid 2012 to Mojave with step by step instructions, or if you followed any knowledge sharing upgrade source videos please share with us. Thanks
