Fun fact, the general name for stalagmites and stalactites are speleothems! There’s lot more speleothems than just those two though

One thing i think to consider is do you want your house to have a 1 or 2 block wide center this impacts how you can center items in a build like a fireplace or a pylon is 3 blocks wide and a door one but a crafting table or a cooking pot are two wide i usually split go for the odd number choice because you can place doors offset and the two block items as accents but the 3 block item can be more difficult to place in a room without preplanning if you want to squeeze as much in

the mites (floor) go up and the tights (ceiling) come down.

Homie i wanted to mention they have a thing called a roublemaker that spawns thoses natural rocks an stuff ,you buy it from the goblin tinker

Fun fact: if you see a spotted red mushroom in a forest, it is called fly agaric, and it is very healthy. They do look bad though

This just gave me an idea to make a stalactite (the ceiling one) and make it look like a hollow part in it has been turned into the NPC house.

One can copy actions but cannot copy the style, the soul, the heart a creator put into his child. I could never repeat that... I can't even take as much joy from the process as you do. I have this ugly natural tendency to make everything perfectly smooth. I even tried letting myself loose on a world, do what this ugly urge calls. I got bored fast, after a few screens of polished marble rectangles framing every soil chunk. I... can't even do what IS pleasant to me. I guess I don't enjoy experimenting and rebuilding as much. Welp, more fun watching you =3

I actually made the decision to stop playing Terraria after many many many hours of playing. I just get so tired of ALL the CONSTANT monsters and how night is WAY longer than day.

Fun fact: that's a mushroom called Amanita Muscaria. These mushrooms used to be used by berserkers during medieval times to give them more endurance during battles as the mushroom makes the person more prone to repeating the same action over and over without them realizing it or being tired.
