Man, thanks for this video. It really helped me with speed. I started using my middle finger instead of my index and has made a world of difference. Thanks..
ОтветитьLate to the party but man your tip on using middle finger and the last two fingers pinky included is incredible. Much more control and speed that way.
ОтветитьVery helpful! Thank you!
ОтветитьThank you so much! I’ve struggled with doubles for months. Yes baby finger problem lol but I didn’t realize I was doing it on my doubles as well. Wow what a difference ⭐️⭐️⭐️🥁🥁🥁🥁 thanks Rob!
ОтветитьDude, I love your videos. I love how it actually feels like a personal lesson. Out of all the channels I watch I get the most out of your channel 👍🏻👍🏻
ОтветитьThank you, thank you, thank you!!! I am 55 and have been learning to play the drums since May '23. My drum teacher is currently on his summer holidays and I've been given 'homework' to do while he is away. One part is to work on getting my bpm up for my doubles. I've given this a go and it's already helping. I am thrilled!! I will now binge watch all of your videos. Amazing explanations, thank you 😁😁
ОтветитьThank you for taking the time to teach
Ответитьdude, WTF! i'm 64, been playing drums on and off for 30 years and i've never really nailed doubles until now. that simple trick of putting the accent on the second hit changed everything, now i'm getting much smoother consistent rolls. i'm not perfect yet but i definitely feel i've broke through the wall. thank you so much.
ОтветитьAwesome lesson Thank you, Love your lessons So far. You really help me understand and make it click in my head how to practice and play the drums love it
Ответитьthanks, this is really going to help
ОтветитьAre there any books that teach how to play a proper double stroke roll like this?
ОтветитьYou are a great teacher! Your advise makes sense. It is hard to find a teacher who knows so well the early mistakes that beginners encounter and who advises how to get over these impediments. I'm greatly appreciative!
ОтветитьReally good explanation of the double stroke. Thanks.
ОтветитьI’ve been playing doubles incorrectly for like 10+ years I am finding it very hard to break bad patterns
Ответитьthanks
ОтветитьGreat video.
ОтветитьRob, man you are the best!! I have been struggling with doubles. This just open the door and the fresh air has come in. Fantastic. Thanks.
ОтветитьThank x it very very useful lesson
ОтветитьGreat video you're an awesome teacher.
ОтветитьOMG I`m so terrible at this! LOL my sticks and pad just arrived today, I guess i`m what ever you would call a pre-beginner, I can just about do singles but my left hand keeps drifting into doubles (or more) that`s when I`n not dropping the sticks, I can do singles with left just fine but as soon as grab the right stick to play alternates l-rl-r etc... I get doubles in my left, yet when I try to do them deliberately I can`t! I think this is going to be a Long journey LOL
Ответитьwe called pinkies out "tea cupping" in drumline. Don't Tea Cup!
Ответитьis so sock
ОтветитьEvery drummer teaches the hit and catch technique, but at high speeds, I promise that none are doing it. They think they are, but what’s actually happening, is that the stick is bouncing of the head or pad, and the fingers are just bringing control to the stick. They are not hitting and catching at 300 or more bpm. It’s all about bounce and the fingers bring stability. It’s not a hit and catch, as everyone thinks they are doing, but only really doing it at slower speeds.
ОтветитьThank you!! I’m just starting learn it makes lots of sense 😁🥁✌🏾
ОтветитьI wish I watched this before I commented on the 4800 double stroke video. At least watching this confirmed my understanding. cheers
ОтветитьI watch you all the time my brother you are amazing drummer and great teacher will explain my brother loving it. I will keep trying thanks
Ответитьi just started playing drums 2 days ago and i was watching like "exercises for beginners" and i just couldn't keep up, my doubles sucked, and i searched "how to get better at doubles" and your video popped up, immediately i got it, you explain and show it perfectly, this really boosted my confidence and motivated me to practice! i hope i make it into a band one day 😖💘💘💘
ОтветитьBrand new drummer just found u and I find your instruction very intuitive and easy to learn from from
ОтветитьVery nice, thanks for the clear video. And what a gorgeous kit you have!
ОтветитьThanks, Doc!
ОтветитьI’m sorry but you didn’t point out what your thumb is doing when you were showing the hand movements for match grip.
ОтветитьI love when he says "that's it"!!!
Like you got it!!
Great great teacher!!
This was absolutely awesome. This is the missing piece I haven’t been able to figure out for a very long time. Looking forward to practice, thanks Rob!!
ОтветитьThanks! Awesome lesson!
ОтветитьLovely clear ideas and information Rob. Great stuff! I'm in!
ОтветитьIt’s pretty much the push pull, Buddy Rich used this technique. Same with Jojo Mayer.
ОтветитьThanks!
