not very clear for Beginners

Just came across your video and curious that I've had my website and GSC for 4 years and always had the analytics your talking about - But I've never manually added my Sitemap into GSC.
Is there an added reason that your Sitemap needs to be added into GSC? Maybe it's quicker or something ?

Second Question - I after researching other videos I see people entering all the different site maps for Posts, Category's etc, where as your only doing the main one? Is this essentially the same thing, just less work?
