Thank you much appreciated!!!
ОтветитьThank you for the video. Also, love the lion picture lol. Why did you remove the lock from the door behind you halfway through the video hahahahha
ОтветитьHI, can you explain the erecovery process in case of failure of one drive? and how to setup another new disk with the survived one again in raid
ОтветитьCan you back up NAS to NAS on the NAS? As an example, in a 4 bay with 4 8tb drives, can you set up 2 RAID 1 arrays and back The first RAID 1 arrays to the second RAID 1 arrays.
ОтветитьThanks for the vid! Very helpful :)
Ответитьall cool and all ... but this is NOT raid .. raid u have to set in BIOS on supported motherboards and switch sata controller from AHCI to RAID .. so without doing so... disks are still operating in AHCI and this is just dynamic mirrored disk without rebuilding option if one of them fails
ОтветитьHi there fella, How do I raid 1 disk 0 and disk 1?
ОтветитьThank you Frazer, I was trying to set up a Raid 1 on my SATA drives, you are correct it is a major hassle. Thanks again.
ОтветитьCan you make a Raid mirror that includes the existing OS?
Ответитьsounds great, until my mirrored volume is greyed out.
ОтветитьSo Usefull! Thanks bro
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure you can RAID 1 drives of different capacities, however, your storage capacity will be limited by the size of the smaller drive.
ОтветитьHi i have 2 x 1TB HDD with Hardware RAID 1 and I need to install dual boot windows and Linux centos 7.4. what is the best solution for this? thank
ОтветитьThis is not raid this is mirroring
ОтветитьQuestion Frazer, If I want to mirror my current OS (Win 7) with a new sata the same size do i just plug in the second disk and follow your instructions?
Ответитьwill this work with 2 ssd's?
Ответитьusb = 3gb/s sata = 6gb/s
ОтветитьNo you did not put the command to copy in the description
ОтветитьHi, great informative video about setting up RAID 1. Question: if my Disk 0 becomes defective, can i use the Disk 1 as the drive to boot up to windows to operate my system again? thanks
Ответитьexcellent video Frazer, exactly what i was looking for - thanks
ОтветитьDo I presume that the operating system has to be on a separate third disc?
ОтветитьIf raid 1 or mirrored raid is not meant for backup, then why to do such raid at all. Isnt that a waste of a drive
ОтветитьI believe it's RAID0 instead of RAID1, because you can use 50% of Total storage in RAID1.
ОтветитьI have a Crucial 240 GB SSD for operating system and WD Blue 1T and I want to get another WD Blue 1T, so can I creat a raid 0 drive using 2 WD Blue tera for each one while AHCI enabled in bios... I just need more space for games
ОтветитьAfter you have setup the raid 1 with two drives, and have places data on it, have you tried to remove the 2nd drive to see if you can still access the data on the remaining drive? I'm wondering how to find out the behavior of the raid 1 system when one of the drives fails.
ОтветитьThanks for the info.
ОтветитьWhat should I do if i get a "there is not enough space available on the disk(s) to complete this operation"? Thanks in advance
Ответитьis this setup ideal for graphic designers when they want to edit heavy files in realtime ?
ОтветитьWhat HDD do you use for the mirroring, normal desktop HDD or NAS HDD?
ОтветитьWORKS PERFECT!
ОтветитьVery helpful, thank you
ОтветитьHello Frazer, thnx for this nice video. I have 2 questions: 1-) Can we do this RAID 1 mirroring with 2 external hard drives? 2-) How do we know if one of these mirrored drives fails (breaks down)? Thank you...
ОтветитьSo Usefull! Thanks bro
Ответитьthis does not work on HDDs more than 4 tb
ОтветитьTHANK YOU! Frazer, you certainly are an amazing instructor and speaker! The whole story: what not to do, what to do, its limitations and why.
ОтветитьHi
Thanks for sharing.
You have added two 2 TB drives, in Raid1 . You have added this for keeping the data availability in mind ( and not for backup). This is very clear.
Your first hard drive has the OS and other apps and contents of your choice.
I have a query.
I wanted to use your approach, including OS, in the below manner. Please, inform whether the approach is OK or recommend an alternative.
Step -1.:. I take the image of the hard disk that has the OS and some apps in it.
Step - 2: Using your procedure , setup the Raid1 .
Step-3: Restore using Acronis, the backup taken earlier on to the Raid 1 hard disk
My Query:
Can we remove the first hard disk now.
Will the mirrored hard drives in Raid 1 , can we expect it to come up , as it has the OS.
Once this stage is through, the leftover space available is for data.
Now, we have OS plus Data, which makes it even more reliable.
My doubt....In your video, you are showing it for data. My interest, is how to include OS as well. My OS is Win7.
Appreciate your help and advice.
so what do you use as a backup then?
ОтветитьVery good teacher , I like your way , thank you
Ответитьraid mirror works when os drive replaced and windows install?
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьQuestion - once you've created your RAID 1 array, can you share it on your network the same way you would a regular stand-alone drive?
ОтветитьHi Frazer Forbes, could you please advise how do we know if one of the drive fails? Also, how do we replace the failed drive and mirror data from the other one. Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing.
ОтветитьHow will i know if one of the drives dies?
ОтветитьSo I want to do a Raid 1 on my hard drives so it well be like a "synced backup", do you recommend that or do you have another way to have a constant drive that automatically backed up your data, Thank you and VERY easy guide to follow
ОтветитьWhy quick format over regular?
ОтветитьHello. I have a problem. on a computer unit I have two hdd 6-terabyte . I have configured raid 1 and installed windows 10 . But I only have a 2 tera partition. On 3.5 tera can not create another partition. Help.
