In August 2023, it took about twice as long to sell an EV in the U.S. as it did the previous January. Prices of EVs are down 22% year-over-year and that's mainly driven by Tesla. About two thirds of EVs sold are Elon Musk's brand. Companies like Ford have ramped up hybrid production as demand has leveled off. While slightly more than half of consumers say EVs are the future and will eventually replace Internal Combustion Engines, less than a third of dealers say so. This all comes at a time when investments in EVs are more than ever. So what's really going on? Watch the video to learn more.

If electric vehicles were economically viable, they’d sell… but they’re not, so they don’t.

Public chargers do not tell you if chargers are working or not or open stalls just teslas do that. Non Tesla chargers require finicky apps and credit cards

I save $500/month on gas and home electricity with solar and charging EV car at home. Tesla chargers are everywhere from 500-1200 mph charging speeds. I own 3 Teslas. My oldest Tesla is a 2017 with 75,000 miles. Never been to service center. Only maintainence are tires. No oil filters in land fills every 5000 miles

We are perhaps moving a little bit too fast, Jeff Aiosa says... but I think he is moving just a little bit too slow. At 1.25x normal speed he sounds perfectly naturally... Perhaps change batteries?

This was literally my experience :

Me: I want a base model hybird Rav 4

Toyota Dealer: Yes but it is a 18 month waitlist

Me: Well how much for the one in the show room?

Toyota Dealer: $10,000 more than thr MSRP

Me:.......

1 month later got a brand new model y delivered to my house and it is by far the best and most convenient car I have ever owned.

Car dealers are the reasons vehicles are expensive, not unions, not manufacturers.

Legacy car companies are doomed, mainly because they joined the EV race late, do not have a charging network like Tesla does, years behind technology wise and still uses dealerships… just get a Tesla!

that old dude is so jealous of Tesla ... if they want to sell more electric vehicles manufactures need to stop the price hikes. Tesla is and will be the electric vehicle king. I LOVE MY MODEL 3. is it prefect, no...far from perfect but i love the implementation of software, tech and functionality

Prefer to have a hybrid car where I can still use gas than waste time on charging. Charging is just not there for EV’s and besides Tesla all other cars just don’t have a great charge or range. Hybrids to me are a good interim solution until EV’s can fix the charging issue (charging station, standard, speed, etc), and range.

And get rid of dealerships as they are all crooks trying to raise the prices. Tesla has shown that direct sale to consumer is the way to go.

Until we have a unified national public charging network here in the US, without all the ridiculous competing charging networks, apps, accounts and logins, then EV sales will continue to dwindle. The DOT should be working on this as an urgent national infrastructure priority, but... *crickets*.

Man this video is all wrong. You are talking to a guy who is the father of time.
We don’t have money to pay 100-150k for a car.
That exaggerated dealer markup is still happening.
Interest rates are crazy.
Even if low/low medium income had the money, they are not paying 1200-1500 a month on a vehicle.

A Ford Maverick is priced at 42k. lol. It was suppose to be a entry level truck.
Lucid car is about 100k and up.

Canoo I hope you are reading these comments. Come in at 28k-32k with a utility vehicle that we can drive nicely. You might have a good shot.

I drive a 2009 truck and It’s cheaper to fix than to go buy a newer used or new new vehicle.

This video is a joke.

All the manufacturers we forced by public customers to allow use of fast Tesla private charging system. Non Tesla manufacturers pushing out EV’s without a real non Tesla charging network. Tesla supplied the cars and charging structure at the same time.

Tesla had a baked in huge markup compared to the big auto makers, from the start, also just wait 10 minutes and Tesla will screw over its customers with another price change. There are several reasons for the car market slow down, it's not just EVs, high interest rates, stupid markups from dealers, a large number of loan defaults. ICE inventory varies a lot by manufacturer and model. The greedy pricing of 80k to 100k cars and trucks, EVs or ICE is why this is happening. Just look at the increase in average price of cars compared to pre-pandemic values. People should be treating EVs like computers with wheels, the tech will change a lot in 5 years. Toyota just signed a deal to produce new battery tech which will jump ahead of all other current EVs. This report skips over the reason why we need to get off oil and gas.

Haha of course they went to Benz dealer, the high end dealers have a much more favorable view of the EV market because they can afford to. Put a Honda or Ford Dealer on and their hair would be on fire

I know a couple of affluent families who traded in their high-end ICE vehicles a few years ago to get on the EV bandwagon, only now to go back to ICE vehicles as the novelty and status of owning an EV has worn off.

Hybrids should have been the next logical step to go towards from gas vehicles, but instead EVs are being pushed on us when there are not many charging stations or people who have access where they live to charge their car. Kinda reminds me of tech companies trying to sell us 8K TVs when many/most streaming services dont even stream in 4K. Maybe these companies should use common sense? lmao

Lucid vehicles cost 100k+, literally every Ev vehicle is above 50k or or less then 100k, how do you expect the average american who makes less then 60k annually to afford a vehicle that's going to last no more then 12 years. Like dam dude, this is not rocket science my guy...

Tesla reduced their prices brilliantly. To take advantage of tax incentives and get more vehicles in garages as people keep a car for 10 years. With their 30% profit margin/vehicle easy for them vs competition of only 8-10%’profit margin. Most of profit of competitors went to 3rd party battery supplier

The government needs to hold off where battery made until USA actually makes batteries for the tax incentive. Yes, Big 3 and others, like 2008, caught with
Pants down and need to catch up. Make 2040 vs 2035 for no new petrol cars. Most manufacturers only offer expensive EV’s no average price EV’s. Kid/hyundia/Tesla make good priced EV’s. We need more public chargers all level 3 NO level 2’s. Trucks take longer to charge. You been 130-350 kw level 3 not 50-100 kw level 3’s that are out there for non Tesla. Teslas are 120-250kw level 3

a story told from the perspective of dying Dealers and lagging established car brands that cant keep up. Cars are sitting on lots because they are not Teslas! all Tesla competitors are more expensive, less flexible and less range, speed etc. The conclusions of this "news" report are just legacy car makers having a whinge at the new world they were too slow to adapt too.

The problem with the lack of charging infrastructure is the Government is subsidizing the installation of chargers but no money for maintaining them. Electrify America was punishment for VW for Diesel Gate and their punishment was to install chargers, not to maintain them. So other than Tesla no one else is maintaining/repairing charging stations. The real issue with charging stations is the US Government's subsidies.

I am on my second EV that was have purchased new. I have paid cash for both. The biggest draw back is the road trip. If you just use your car for around town and have a garage to change in they are great vehicles. If you don’t have that your screwed. My EV locked up last week for the first time. I had to disconnect the 12v battery wait a few minutes and then reconnect before it would work. That sucked

EV prices are too high, the infrastructure isn't there, and the technology is constantly changing.

A lot needs to happen before EVs make financial sense for the avg person.

Then theres safety. Extinguishers for lithium ion battery fires need to come standard with every EV vehicle, and fire depts need to make similar investments in extinguishing lithium car battery

PHEVs would be a good stepping stone, but there are so few options available, and it doesnt seem like automakers want to offer them.

Im looking to buy a new car in a few years but the car I'd like to buy simply doesn't exist.

Underwater loans. 15 trillion dollars printed past 2 years caused supply chain issues as people buying everything with all the free/easy low interest money
