I thought this was gonna be an interesting and informing video that didn't relate to me, and then they said, "valvular heart disease," and I thought, "oh right, that's me..."

I am so thankful that I have a strong and healthy heart. I read through the comments, and it is so sad to see some very young people with heart issues.

I found I had heart failure because of weight gain. My electro cardiologist referred me to failure specialists, all of the side effects are very familiar. In 2020 I had a heart transplant, my main issue now is the numerous side effects of the meds.

Anybody with this problem needs to say bye-bye to alcohol and tobacco. Drop your current weight by just 10-15% and you will feel 100% better. Guaranteed.
You're welcome.

What would you do for patients who can't take beta blockers? And how about asthmatic patients who use beta antagonists (eg. Salbutamol) for asthma attacks?

I am an old bloke with a few problems (mild COPD, obesity, decreasing mobility, Type 2 diabetes, infuriating itching on legs, arms and back). I find these videos of yours extremely informative. I have no medical knowledge or training, although my knowledge of Latin and Greek helps in understanding the terminology. I applaud you in lucidly explaining the issues to students, which furthers my own understanding!

I am not a medical student and my heart is fine, but this was really interesting. Now I understand what the doctors are looking for during checkups when they are telling you to breathe deeply and listening with the stethoscope.

I am seen in the heart failure clinic, twice a year and I have an ICD pacemaker and take medications including beta blockers, I have my ejection fraction and BNP closely monitored. In 2016 (I was 18) I had an out of hospital cardiac arrest, which lasted at least 20 minutes according to my family who were present and saved my life. I had the most horrible, extreme palpitations in the minutes prior to the cardiac arrest. My father is a GP and performed chest compressions constantly while the paramedics applied the shock pads and gave me IV medications. I spent several weeks in cardiac ITU afterwards and don't remember much until I was transferred to a specialist hospital, where they did all sorts of horrible tests (including putting wires up my groin several times) and said I needed an ICD (I also had a loop recorder which was removed as it ran out of battery). I developed epilepsy after the cardiac arrest, my neurologist said it was due to the lack of oxygen. I will be forever grateful to my family.

In 2018 I was admitted to the hospital for heart failure. I had a 19% ejection fraction.Turned out that I have lupus and it was attacking my heart 😢. I was also diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease. My heart is much better now with Metoprolol and Losartan. Take care of yourselves ❤

Im really scared, man. Im 23 years old,, im healthy and my job keeps me active because i work in construction. I've had my first anxiety attack last month and I hard panicked because I didn't know what was going on with me. I just suddenly had shortness of breath while trying to sleep. Same thing happened to me the following week and I went to the doctor to check if im healthy, they took out my blood and they said I was completely healthy and it was just an anxiety attack and they taught me how to control it. I've been sleeping well for like a week or so. And for the last week, I've been having trouble breathing only at night when I try to go to sleep for work the next day. I would lie flat because that's my usual sleeping position, but I just always have shortness of breath no matter what. I tried sleeping on my side, too and its the same. I also tried the more pillow method on my head, still didn't work.
I decided to look it up and idk man, I think I have Orthopnea? And its a heart failure symptom? I'm so scared, im just 23 years old, I thought I was healthy. I dont know what happened. I dont do drugs, Im active.
I dont want to die from a heart attack that could happen in the future. What is wrong with me. I want to go to the doctor to check this out but the cost is so high,I won't be able to have enough money. I cant sleep, I have to wake up for work in 3 hours. It is currently 1:40AM. Im stressing out. I cant call off work because they need me for the day. I'm stressing so hard
