okay im convinced that tekken 8 is better than i thought. Very amazing review! At first i didnt like it because they lack some of my favourtite characters. Their roster is a bit short compared to the previous ones (i know they'll prolly put the others in a DLC like what they did to tekken 7). And also they took away treasure battle. Im not that good in tekken, so treasure battle is the only way i can feel im really good at it lol but after watching this review, you made it very clear what their goal/intentions was. Thank you!

I can say with confidence that we are now in a Platinum era of fighting games right now. So many good iterations and newcomers from so many companies. Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Grandblue Fantasy, Guilty Gear Strive, KI update, KOF 15. It’s a great time to be a Fighting game fan.

I feel like the biggest change from T7 to T8, especially as a Law player, is the lowering of execution requirements to make a game plan work, which is something I wish more legacy games would do, as opposed to just gutting move lists.

Tried getting into fighting games for years, I suck at them so never have fun after an hour or 2 and the newness wears off, tekken 8 i played for like 3 hours 2 days ago had a blast played for like 5 hours the day after and now im at work dying to get home and play all night again, first fighting game ever ive actually been excited to play. Going into customization blind, with law, and coming out looking like trunks from dbz really solidified it for me.

I wish there was something more interesting with the Arcade Quest... imagine picking an Arcade and then battling other players/ghosts from other gyms and having a leaderboard that shows which Arcade has the most wins. Or something like Automated Tournaments (which apparently T7 had?). I'm mostly a casual player so something beyond just spamming Ranked matches would go a long way to keep me engaged.

I can’t say tekken 8 is more fun but it’s a better game overall for the $. Tekken 6 and Tekken 7 were more fun for high level gameplay. T8 is just ehhh. Heat system will get old soon. Best tekken ever is still tekken 4. JFLS for life!

It’s frustrating when you have to relearn moves that have been switched around. It doesn’t ruin the game I’ll get over it and still enjoy the game but it’s kinda frustrating at first. Hope I’m not the only one who feels like this

The style of the graphics looks disgusting. All the shiny textures, the badly done garment folds, the bad design of the clothing. Yuk!

I loved the story mode it was perfect so a lot of the characters gor a chance to shine!

I'm not a fan of the roster in this game. The new characters are very boring. Where are Lidia, Fahkumram, and Katarina? These characters are FAR more interesting than Reina and Azucena. Also, leaving out the legend that is Lei Wulong?! The fuck is this?!

I love Tekken but I wish we could disable the power moves. The matches are too short as it is and these power moves make it shorter.

This is the first Tekken game I actually got into, and it's been awesome! Easy to get into for newcomers! The move list looks scary at first, but once you get the hang of the controls, you begin to utilize that list properly! There's a move for everything! It's awesome. Learn something new every time! I'm NRS player, so this game is blowing my mind. I've been missing out!

Tekken 8 is perfect - and its not because I’m comparing it to mk1…mk1 is great; but we’re all hoping the mk1 looks more like tekken 8 6 months into its release and tekken 8 looks this good at launch.

Tekken is the safest franchise to join cuz you know exactly what youre getting

I have played games my whole life but have always felt overwhelmed by fighting games. I just bought Tekken 8 and am absolutely in love. this is the first tekken and first fighting game outside of smash (if you'd call it a fighting game) that I've ever bothered to try and get better at and I'm having a great time

As a complete casual who is stuck in Dominator, I feel like this game is Goty across all genre. We'll see what comes out but the care they put into every mode, system, and sub system is next level. It makes me sad for every other fighting game that's come out in the last few years. Harada and his team and Bandai Namco have really pushed themselves time after time and I think this is an incredible show of it.

You complain about Wifi but, I'm on wifi consistently and this game runs fine.

Lotta people are saying this is the best Tekken has ever been...but for me, as someone who has been trying to get into fighting games for 10+ years and just couldn't get anything to click, this game finally did it. I can't express how much I love this game and am excited to learn and grow with it. Props to the team for their phenomenal work.

Whats the characher monetization like? Its really put me off teķken 7 asking for 100 euros plus on top of the game price

Wow! That teaching tool is the most impressive thing I have heard of in any FG. That is exactly what I need I struggle to get better in fighting games, so online is never any fun in any FG for me.
I wasn't going to buy Tekken 8, because I was so disappointed in SF6, their new controls don't make me better, they made me into a dummy who just likes to push a button and win over others, I don't know how little you think of us normies, because you praised it!
I hope Tekken can let us filter out you FGC bullies unlike SF6, I hate those of you who start fights with people who have played 2 matches towards your 3000 wins, most of them against normies.

Haven't played any Tekken since 6 and I'm not seeing anything here that will bring me back. Get bored of fighting games after a few hours nowadays.

I’ve played Tekken on and off since the first one - mainly 2, 5, Tag 2 and 7.
Overall, something about Tekken in general daunts me compared to other fighting games, and it’s mainly the amount of moves/combos.

But I’m feeling some progress with getting through that with T8 and am having good fun with it. Not to mention the story mode is quite fun. Great review! 😁

I just want an "Arcade Mode" like it was in T5 or Tag 2 where I can play endlessly against CPU while leveling up my character's rank and the IA is set to Ultra Hard.Would I have this?

Me and the boys love it but one thing is that we all agree on which is to not use rage art cuz its underhanded dogshit. it should've never been added to the game.

Like: "If we make it easy, then everyone could be the next Diego Umejuarez".
But this game actually has a balance between caring for veterans and being welcoming for casuals.

as a guy who did technical work for character customization, this shit is a total ass! and I hated how shit gets out of hand the deeper it goes. the clipping issue was a total nightmare as we needed to match certain pieces of cloths to fit with EVERY piece of cloths without clipping as there was a bit of an over lap and man on man, it is just a total ass.

Dang, I don’t have a good PC or the next gen consoles, but this is the first time I’ve really seen footage of T8 and now I need it. I kept getting caught up in the gameplay and would have to go back because I had totally tuned the review out, lol.

Never played Tekken, but I've played MK10, SF4, SF5, SF6, Injustice 2, GG2xrd, GGStrive, and DBZF. Is this good? Also, how did they make 8 games out of one dude trying to throw his father over a cliff?

Netcode is still shit,.it's nit netherrealms quality. Crossplay off, dont accept wifi players, this way at least you are playing based on what happens on the screen. I repeat, crossplay isnt worth it if you are playing this on PC.

The graphics are amazing
The customization is lacking especially when the avatar has more options then characters on the roster

Gameplay is fun. I miss team battle, casual tournaments, treasure battles. Story was abysmal and ive had 1 lag free match and a couple unplayable online matches (4+ connection).

Not sure. Hard to beat 3 and 5 for me but definitely fun gameplay on this one. 3 and 5 remain my all time favorites. Better than 7 all in all.

Tekken 7 was that crappy food you ate getting nauseous, but Tekken 8 was the good beverage you washed it down with. I’m so glad this game actually has content and is back to its roots for the most part at least. 7 literally felt like an attraction for casuals and an experiment to only exist to bring the franchise into the main stream rather than an actual video game.

It took until Tekken 8 to finally have a VS CPU mode in a home console Tekken.
