Huge performance improvement | Testing the RTX 4090 in VR for MSFS

To update i have now managed to hit over 60 fps on ground and upto 90 in air now. In taa! Doesn't DLSS make it extremely HARD to see the instrument panel?

Hmm you have a lot of settings at middle with the good card. Did you tryed openxr and set to high?

Can you see all the instruments clearly? Read everything

I don't turn on DLSS, because it makes the picture blurry even with the quality setting. I prefer to turn off anti-aliasing completely and increase the resolution.

Dude I have a very similar setup 5800x3d 4090 ddr4 3600hmz ram.. I can't seem to get the results you are in similar scenarios.. can u tell us what ur settings are.. open xr, foveated rendering, reprojection...?

Hi, also very happy with performace of 4090 with 5800x3D with Quest 2, but i have problem that if i move head everything in blured. I found that it should be problem with Motion blur enabled in VR mode but that option is missing there. If i disable it in cfg file UserCfg.opt in VR part it get every time enabled again. Does anybody have same problem? That motion blur in VR is terrible, i need to disable it to fully enjoy it. Thank you

Use a FPS limiter at the NVidia Control Panel, put 72 fps, so you save GPU and CPU power, it makes all more stable, colder, etc.

Excellent stuff. I just got my Asus Tuf OC 4090 and like you had fantastic performance. No motion reprojection on the G2 headset, somewhat higher settings than you, DX12 in the SU 11 beta, no DLSS, 100% on Render Scaling and OpenXR, TLOD at 200, OLOD at 150, with buildings etc on high, I was getting high 60s to mid 70s at 1000ft in GA aircraft. Super sharp, no stutters, just a huge leap from my 6800XT.

The doubling of frames you are expecting to get with dlss3 doesnot show with the built in msfs fps counter try to use another 3rd party counter and you will see them.

With my 9700k and 4090 I'm getting about 75 percent of what you're getting. I'm going to have to upgrade my cpu soon.

Thinking of VR but can't decide what headset the versatile Quest 2 or the Reverb G2. I Have tried a quest 2 inside the aircraft is very clear but scenery outside is a bit hazy.

as predicted (God is borring to be right) I would neeat least another 1-2 GPU iterations before I can jump at VR. Everything is fine and dandy, but when SAMS gets exited, Hogs start spamming AGMs, and in the mid of all that you hug the earth at 400mph to take out a target, frames will drop like a rock. We need 120 stable to get a hit down to 90 and we need some G-sync technology so we don't get screen tearing when frantically look around after a SAM trail. I know this is MSFS not DCS but are comparable in performance

Good to see a 4090 review in VR with the 5800X3D. My 4090 is due to be delivered in a couple of days and I already have a 5800X3D, currently with an AMD 6800XT and G2. Can't wait to try the 4090 out!

I finally got a smooth experience in the A340 tutorial using reverb G2 @ 100%. This is the biggest performance jump we've seen in a video card. Keep in mind that the 3090 was already very powerful. The 4090 is a monster.

What about flying with PMDG or Fenix with AI traffic, REX, GSX, MCE, navigraph panels all running at demanding third party airports with city scenery ?

Sad HP/microsoft didn't add 72Hz refresh rate to their headsets like the Quest 2, it is a very good compromise between 60 and 90Hz
