Since i learned how to do star reductions from your channel... i wonder what a star trail image would look like after a star reduction (on the original set, before layering) 🤔

I have another question about your work flow I'm in the process of using PS to create star trails but when try to use a layer mask to remove plane trail or car lights I create the mask to remove stuff my spot removal brush doesn't work on the mask so I have to use the image itself I may settings wrong what would your advice if you have time

i really enjoy. your videos im looking to re-edit my some of my star trail photos using your technique but how do you remove plane trails do you remove them on the finale image on each photo if so will this create gaps in the trails and again im learning a lot from your videos

Hi Richard, I have just watched this video again and have to say it is so much better than I first thought. That photo turned out super and you made it look so easy to do. I love how you check it all and make sure that you got rid of all those imperfections, making sure that the image is as good as can be, brilliant ! I am saving this to my useful videos so that I can watch it over and over again till I learn as much as I can on how to get shots like this. Thank you for sharing this and showing us how to do these types of photo, I think it is great that you spend so much time helping us learn and it’s much appreciated 😁👍

So we have to touch the camera to reset the aperture and shutter speed when we shoot the last 15 foreground pictures?

Great tuto as always, thank you so much, I tried on a serie of 150 photos, the result is very good on the screen, but when i try to flatten the image, the result is bad, it gives me a "blurry" or "foggy" image, i tried different way to save it in .psb, .tif, .jpg and always bad quality image, any idea why it happen ? thank you!

I have so much trouble with photoshop but you have made this much easier to understand, big thanks!
Would love to know more about the light painting, do you leave camera the same position but just focus on the building and randomly shine light on the front? Sorry I’m just starting out

Fantastic video, Richard! Don't hesitate to repeat things as this is how the information finally trickles into our brains! Indeed something finally 'clicked' for me with the masks! I really appreciate all the time you take in these videos. I shall be saving this one to re-watch for sure!

Thank you, great workflow you have! But one thing I did not fully understand: When you did the Video the building was fully lightened, but on your shots it was not... did you do some lightening only for the tutorial video? And how exactly did you do the lightening? With a torch? And where does these lightening stripes (you wiped out later) did come from? I did not see you on the shots? See, I´m very interested in these lightening thing because that is a critical thing if you want to have something lightened in the foreground and very seldom somebody explains how it´s done. I thank you!

Thank you, Richard. I've been taking lots of 30sec exposures for star trails. I really like your technique of using 3 minute exposures.
Have you experimented with star trails using your star tracker? I switched poles (it turns the opposite direction) and set it on x12 to make it move faster. I got long star trails in less time.
Also, my Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens shows much more star color than my Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 . Is it because it is a high quality Nikkor lens or because the Nikkor's larger light gathering f/1.8 aperture?

Again, FANTASTIC tutorial, well done mate!!! Richard, as I was watching your process, I couldn't help thinking about your computer setup for handling all these ram/disk space hungry processes ...I was wondering if you might touch a bit on this subject and do a short vid about your setup, ie amount of ram you have installed, if you use a dedicated hard drive for your performance setting within Photoshop etc. I know that's always a bit of a boring subject for some, but could be helpful for others who my be having trouble putting together a composition due to computer hardware issues. I know this, because I was one of those folks for year. Thanks again, forever a fan!

So I have a question when you selecting all images in LR to export to PS. I understand that holding shift to select multiple images, but how do you deselect a image without deselecting all the other images thank you

Richard, using 3 minutes seems simple enough, I’m wondering if their is an outside temperature that would trigger you to use a shorter time or if you have had to worry about the sensor getting to hot. I’m also shooting Nikon.

Richard, this is an important question. I've suddenly realised it in the field the other day. When shooting the stars, focus at infinity but when light painting focus on the building. But if you cannot move your camera or your tripod, how to refocus on the building (when you're already focused at infinity)?

Richard....thank you for all your videos and all the work that goes into producing them. Until I discovered your channel I was attempting star trails with 30 second exposures and having perhaps 250 -300 images. Obviously processing 300 images is a lot more involved than processing 30-40 images at 3 minute exposures. Question....does the 3 minute exposure work better in Australia because of less light pollution or doesn't it matter? Is there any benefit in doing the shorter exposures?

My understanding is that u should give more “rest time” between shots on a DSLR to help cool the sensor?
