Fine-grain QoS control for writing firm performance SLAs
Raw performance alone cannot solve the performance variability challenges in a multi-tenant cloud. You need Quality of Service (QoS) control that allows you to set and maintain the performance for every application. Only SolidFire QoS enables you to craft firm SLAs that differentiate you from your competition.
Overlook the myths and get the facts about high-performance storage
I can just throw a ton of performance at this problem.
Performance (i.e. IOPS) alone does nothing to solve the challenges presented by multi-tenancy. Without the QoS mechanisms in place to provision and govern the allocation of storage performance, there is no capability to confidently deliver a performance-based SLA.
I can already deliver performance based SLAs today.
Sure, but at what cost? The over-provisioning (aka underutilization of your capacity) required to deliver a performance-based SLA with standard disk storage systems completely erodes the profitability of that service.
My customers aren't asking for better performance yet.
Initial cloud adoption has been driven by test/dev, archiving and other non-business-critical workloads. As the cloud matures, customers will look for providers they can trust to host their mission-critical applications. If you can't handle the demands of your performance-sensitive workloads your customers will go elsewhere. Do you want to miss out on this opportunity?
