YouTube has changed monetization rules (and it sucks)

Yea, this is terrible - I just got the same notice on may page, right when I thought I was getting into a small groove. All us small
channels will need to work hard together to build larger subscriber pools with more content to get our hours up!

I have the watch time but need 125 more subs. Maybe do-able, I'm not sure. If anyone is interested in Tesla and car videos, consider subscribing to my channel to help. I am subbing to lots of small YT'ers to help since the big guys obviously don't need us or our help.

If you havnt achieved this yet then you wouldn’t have passed the $100 threshold yet so it dosnt matter what so ever for channels that don’t hit that view mark or watchtime mark

Yeah I think this will drive video times up. The 4000 is really high even for me.

I'm just mad we won't be able to have custom thumbnails....who the hell is going to want to click on our videos, let alone subscribe. Also the video will stop on the most unflattering frame of you....UGGGHH!

4,000 videos..... easy! Just upload hourly 2min videos of you putting on makeup, cutting your toe nails, commenting on movies, playing games, screaming at dead chickens, picking your noes, and all the other things mindless chewing gum channels do. Oh yes, and if you want to increase your subscribers - put on more makeup, comment on more movies and scream at more dead chickens. Bloody hell!

Adding my solidarity. Folks, use care with your language. Mix it up and use alternate forms of delivery. Take your time, watch something along the lines of at least a few minutes before liking and clicking that thing. Nudge and a wink. All the best. We can get through this. IKR IT FREAKING SUCKS! I used to have my vids monetized until they made a new policy about that and they didn’t find some of my vids, “Advertiser Friendly” good god I hate their policy. I even made a stream on it! Oh and btw, when I looked they said that they didn’t change the rules because of Logan Paul and the others.

I have a paranormal podcast and we have been under these new rules we must have 4,000 view hours this is a bunch of crap I want the corporate people of U tube to answer for their actions

These rules DO apply to channels who were previously monetized and were made in an effort to stop community guidelines violations. (Thank you Logan Paul and others) It really sucks that a platform designed to allow any one to share and create is starting to crack down on the little guy because of fear stemmed in the backlash of recent events. Let me know what you guys think of the new policy.
