I love the cover photo for this video he's like no no no we had to do it you see lol
Ответитьi am glad you tell history for what it is rather than the usual propaganda people like to insert in order for one side to look like the victims and another the vicious aggressor.
ОтветитьThe human sacrifice WILL stop
ОтветитьCompare this to US History😂
ОтветитьSome problems with proper pronunciation, the villainous characterization and too much liberty with historical assumptions (ie. thousands of sacrifices per day). Why must any description of Aztecs almost always begin with human sacrifice, as if Spaniards, English, Romans, Greeks, long etc. didn't also practice human sacrifice like the Inquisition? Is vilification a requirement to colonization? The demonization is from a colonizer tradition and should be questioned. Where is the mention of the amazing urban planning, advanced astronomical study, higher education, water architecture, centuries of urban planning before Aztec arrival, etc.? That might make them look too good.
Ответитьthe human sacrifice will stop
ОтветитьCan you do one on how the Spanish made the natives drain a whole lake in Mexico City.
ОтветитьAmericans or brithis will never do a video of how spaniards mix with nstives
And how anglos exterminate yhe natives.
The empires of supremacism britain and usa
Hernán cortés had the kids of mottezuma and made them nobles
ОтветитьThe empires of the Americas were not ready to face against any foreign enemy, the Spanish had a big advantage of being able to trick the natives with roman strategies and concepts, like taking control over leaders and dividing each empire in to pieces, but the smallpox and other deceases left them weak and men from Cuba could have conquered them easily if Cortez failed, just the realization of all the gold that the Aztecs had would have been enough to gather a real army and face in a conventional war, but Cortez won and got everything he wanted. Also people tend to forget that some of the elites of the vice royalty were the native leaders that helped Cortez, and modern mexicans that claim to have native blood are probably not aztecs, more like their subjects and enemies.
Ответить"The alarm was Sounded"
Aka the Aztec Death Whistle
"Ta-lacks-caylluns" LMAO
ОтветитьHow I understand the massacre at this celebration was because there were rumors that aztecs wants to kill the rest of spaniards and liberate Moctezuma and that festival was only a pretext to execute that plan. At this time Moctezuma was already under "obervation" of the spaniards.
ОтветитьImagine being the leader of one of the three largest empires in America, and some random dude that doesn’t even speak your language puts you under house arrest
ОтветитьI love the it’s always sunny reference
ОтветитьThe historical records pretty much say the Spanish were cowards. Since they killed the elite force of the Aztecs when unarmed during a festival. They were that afraid of facing real men who followed an honorable code of war. Then Pizarro did the same in Peru. Acts of cowardice, unbecoming of REAL MEN. The friars wrote that the veteran spanish were terrified when they were old on their death beds because they began to confess all of their deceit and acts of cowardice for the love of gold.
ОтветитьThey did not. They had thousands of local enemies of the Aztecs to do the heavy lifting. Without this help, they would have been butchered in short order. This "white man's inherent superiority" crap should be put in the toilet, where it belongs.
ОтветитьConquistador was the craziest nonfiction I ever read
ОтветитьCan you do a video about the Taino people of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean and the Ican People of South America.
ОтветитьSo, contrary to the Brittish, the Spanish conquistadors used to marry, and set families with natives people. I guess that is why the whole south and central America is full of Latinos of mixed race and full indigenous people whereas in North America is only white people (who never mixed with natives, and set them aside in reserves) and Black people, brought for slavery... Interesting, I always though Spanish were the worst ones...
ОтветитьYour graphics have gotten so cool. While I still respect simple history the evolution of your videos is unbeatable. I hope this is your full time job if you want it to be. You put a lot into this and it shows.
ОтветитьPeople complain about indigenous people being under spanish rule althought they were not slaves as if the farmer spaniards in the iberian peninsula lived better than indigenous and half blood newborns. C'mon guys, workers in the Americas lived better than most of Spain
Ответитьglorious thumbnail
Ответитьit wasnt the spaniards it was the 500000 diseases they carried on them from their garbage dump uncivilized city
ОтветитьThe conquest of America was much better than the appropriation and destruction carried out by the British and French, and I think that Spain cared more about the indigenous people than other European countries.
ОтветитьWhen it comes to a lot of the conflicts the Europeans had with the native civilizations of the Americas, the Europeans are typically pretty unambiguously the bad guys. When it comes to the Aztecs though...? There's nothing the Spaniards did to the Aztecs that the Aztecs didn't also regularly do to themselves and especially their tributaries. I feel sorry for the Mexica and how badly they suffered, but that compassion doesn't extend to the Aztec civilization they'd built. It was cruel at a level that wouldn't be matched until hundreds of years later, in 20th century Europe... If you think that's a hot take on my part: Go ahead and look up what the annual sacrificial ritual for Tlaloc entailed. Moral relativism on the grounds of culture has it's limits.
ОтветитьEver since I heard Victor Davis Hanson talk about this, I’ve been obsessed
ОтветитьCould literally be the sequel to 300
Ответитьthis reminds me of dj peach cobbler's video
ОтветитьNo native anywhere stood a chance against us Europeans did they 😂
ОтветитьWhy isn't there a movie about this? It would be brutal
Ответитьincredible
ОтветитьI can't wait for you to do an episode on the South American wars of independence to see how much stuff you get wrong lol. Most English videos I see on the topic are so bad. Somehow they always neglect to mention the role the British played or they downplay it. They also forget to mention that the real losers of those wars were the "indigenous" people who for the most part fought on the "royalist" side.
ОтветитьVIVA ESPAÑA 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
ОтветитьBased. The human sacrificing will STOP.
ОтветитьHow the hell do you land in uncharted territory, confront peoples with entirely different languages, and comprehend faction disputes amoung enemies and tributaries?
ОтветитьThe conquest of Mexico is so shrouded in eurocentric views, and myths that its actually insane. You’d think years later with better education we would be better at this.. but from a glance at the comments its pretty damn saddening to see us be so backwards. Any primary sources I would reccomend would be from Bernal Diaz de Castillo, Hernan’s accounts reads like a kid who knows hes guilty but tries to down play it to his mom.
ОтветитьNothing good has ever happendon that half island
Ответить“The Rest is History” podcast is in the middle of an eight-part series on this for anybody who wants to know more. This video is a great addition to that.
ОтветитьThe Spaniards basically turned the Aztec's subjects against them.
Ответитьi thought cortez was the worst of the worst, turns out he wasnt that bad, compared to that other guy
ОтветитьI forgot about how white people can't spell words that have "TL" in them like "TLAXCALA"
ОтветитьSome of the stuff you're saying here is wrong, you should hire me on this topic.
Ответить400 spaniards and 100,000 natives.
ОтветитьGuide to Conquering the New World: Cough. A lot.
Ответитьbro the guys that saved buddy towards the end changed the course of history
Ответить400 spaniards didnt defeated a entre empire, it was the hundreds of Tlaxcalans who served as their cannon fodder.
Ответить
