Set Amplifier Gain with cheap $40 Oscilloscope!!! like a pro! Tune amp perfect!

Does the clipping point change with different frequencies? You used a 40hz tone. But say I’m playing music at lower frequencies does anything change?

You're not clipping. You've met 20v ac and the wave disappeared. I had the same scope and got rid of it after comparing it to a 400vac limit oscope. I was robbing myself of 27v or around 1000w

I have a question, I have a JL 1000/1v2 amp with a mtx 9500 15” sub wired to a 2 ohm load. JL recommends at a 2 ohm load set amp voltage to 44.7 volts. But when I have my oscilloscope hooked up, I can go much higher on the voltage before the sign wave is distorted. So the question is, should I go with the JL spec or should I follow the oscilloscope?

If i set my head unit volume to a certain volume before clipping, lets say 28, and it goes up to 36 normally, but the bass rollof begins at 25. With the lc2i i can control the accubass function. Would i have to adjust gain first using the oscilloscope and then adjust accubass after words or would that introduce clipping?

You had the voltage on the o scope at 20v so any output above 20v got clipped on the meter. My amp puts out 70v-85v so wouldn’t you want to do exactly the same thing with the meter voltage above the amp out put voltage then turn the gain up till the signal clips?

Does this work with bass boost and other inputs also does it help with 4 chsnnel amps

but amplifier output is dependent on speaker impedance, so you need to retune your gain everytime you swap speakers, or wire to a diffrent resistance. so wouldnt the tuning get irrelevant as soon as you plug ur subs in which have a diffrent resistance than the measuring device?

Always pain dealing with smd......they also make you run everything flat before tuning, i like this method better

I just got new Kicker CompVX 15 DVC. Kicker recommended a 50Hz test tone. Is that okay? Or would a 40Hz test tone give me better result?

one thing i never do is set gains with speakers unplugged.. your gonna get X volts at infinit ohms,. if you rise at all your not gonna get peak output since youl need a higher voltage at 2 ohms then 1 ohm so yeah most of what you said is true, dont use loudness or any special settings you dont need them.

Hello mate I got mine today could I kindly get a reply so basically I know how to do the subwoofer set up but I’m little stuck on the all door speakers nothing runs from head unit front rear speaker wires on head unit all my doors runs off amps only so how would I check and set them up is this the correct way unplug the phono leads turn gain down turn head unit to where it max out before clipping the a just amps that do door speakers ???

Even though this video is old what about that thd 1 percent distortion? Saw a video of the comparison of the smd dd1 and the oscilloscope yes the oscilloscope you gonna see the wave breaks or it clips as shown showing not a clean hump the video of the dd 1 doesn't clip so there for that questions me but not everyone can afford a dd1 😂 i can't to set gains but as the video says its hard to hear distortion on low hz so let me know what you believe cause i bought an oscilloscope

What test tone do you recommend for mids? Even though some door speakers play as low as 60hz.

I wish there was an easy 1,2,3 step process to just setup your amp. These videos are all way too technical.

I'm curious how a low feed signal shows on this. Looking at troubleshooting the system. Took a dyno'd review showing the amp I purchased to be true rated, but may be more to look at. Different things is the subs are from my sub compact into my truck. I hope I may get a baseline of data and grow from there.

Does setting gains with 0db 50hz signal compared to -10db 50hz test tone make a big difference in audio?
