The headrest is attached to the frame of the chair itself with four screws on the inside of the back.

The motion of the headrest moves up and down and tilts and the base tilts up and down as well and has a slight curve when raised to help support your neck as you recline in the chair.

The style of the gesture back is also different when the headrest is installed.
