Have also grown to like the 50mm length too. Can recommend the Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8 for video - a slightly older lens but the optics, sharpness and rendering are gorgeous!

I have the 50 1.2 GM waiting for me in the mail now.. Can't wait

Hay Peter. I love the 24 GM too. And the 50mm is realy not my focal lenght too :-D But did you ever tryed the 35 1.4 GM ... omg I love it so much. The Blur is much better as it is on the 24 1.4 but it is not so tight like the 50mm. I love it for my portrait photos.

Good day, everyone. My current setup includes the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 on an aps-c sensor and the Sony GM 50mm f/1.4. I am very satisfied with it. Next week, I'll be filming an interview with these two lenses. I hope the room is large enough for the 50mm 😅

I have, and love, my nifty 50 and 85mm, both 1.8
And I wish I could find a cheap 24mm. But no one is giving them up. That’s saying something.

What makes the 24GM outdated other than the slower AF compared to newer lenses? Or is it just AF?

I also got the Sony 24mm 1.4 GM Lens five years ago, it is still the very best 24mm of any brand. But I do not use it much any more, now I use Zeiss Loxia Distagon 21mm 2.8 T* together with either Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical or Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar 35mm 2.8 T* ZA, depending on how light I want to go. I never do video and 99.99% of the time I focus manual.

The 24mm has slow autofocus, it breathes focus like an asthma patient in tear gas and it is audible in the audio even with an external mic. I sent it in for warranty and Sony tells me this is how it is supposed to work. I own it for three years now and still regret purchasing it. I rather use my 35mm f1.8 or Tamron 17-28.

Hey Peter, I’ve been following you for quite some time now. There’s always been useful info on this channel. I loved the FPV series. I film mostly campgrounds and outdoors products. Transitioning from just drone into more ground game, I’m looking at the a7siii and two lenses. Would these two be ideal or should I target a nifty fifty with/and 24-70 f1.8? Again I’m going to be filming rv’s, scenery, campfires, hiking, biking, kayaking etc.. thanks and good timing on this video.

I also got hooked on the 24 a number of years ago, such an amazing lens and easily my go to in any situation I'm gonna use a prime

The 24 MM GM is an amazing lens.I love it.I ended up buying the 50 MM 1.4 GM as an upgrade from the 50mm G lens.I love both of them,the 24 MM is my favorite.

What a journey man. Fellow creator and I am heading to 10k you will be a a millionaire in no time. Great lenses. Yeah that is a weird 50 I think my awkward spot is from 24 to 70, that said I LOVE the 55 ziess lens from Sony. I think it also has a wide aperture, either one is a dream.

I love my 16×35 with my fx3 . Always eyeballed the 24mm but never got to spend that amount of money.

Been studying a ton of film, specifically Deakins’ work. I swapped to the 24 1.4 and 50 1.4 GMs as my primes and have been absolutely loving the results.

I noticed your 24GM is quite dusty, does that affect the image quality at all?

Focus breathing is killing me...

I have tamron 17-70mm f 2.8 and 70-180 f 2.8 with a6500. I used to have a prime lens which was 35mm F 1.8. Prime lenses are great at what they do but in time I decided to have an all around lens which is 17-70mm. I've been using it since 2021 and got the 70-180 recently. Image quality blows my mind when I upload them to my pc. For now I just don't use primes just because I had to get more with the money I spend. In the future I might go get another prime again. If I ever get a full frame Sony I will go for 35mm F 1.4.
