Great explanations 😊
ОтветитьWhat is the type of joint called, that a sprung hub represents?
Thanks
Holy cow, this video is so awesome! Thankyou!
Starting to have the clutch go on my camaro, and I wanted to look into why I might want one kind of clutch compared to another, this really helped me!
How many miles does this clutch last
ОтветитьBro no homo I love you ! And I love your videos I can seat down and listen to you all day to learn everything about performance thank you your knowledge serves me well 5 stars
ОтветитьLove this guy.
ОтветитьWhat effect does the 4 springs have on the clutch? Like 4 long springs vs 6 short springs?
ОтветитьI have been a huge fan of this channel but never went this far back in time. I needed to know if my yonaka clutch I just ordered is good. Seems to be the perfect video
ОтветитьHey Engineering Explained I need your help, I cant shift up to any gear in my manual gear when high up in RPMS, the clutch flywheel, pressure plate, Throwoutbearring, gearbox oil, engine mount are new and replaced 1 month and 3000km ago. I drove 3000km fine with the new set and never had issues until someone else launched my car from a standstill. When he wanted to shift to 2nd during the hard laucn the tranny blocked.
Now you think the tranny is broken and that is wat I though so i replaced the tranny but the problem still exists. I checked the TOB with a micro camera and it does move instantly when i press the clutch pedal lightly, already bled the TOB and even replaced the shifting mechanism. Im clueless what is happening and hope you have any ideas
Does a high performance clutch put more strain on the clutch fork? causing it to break sooner?
ОтветитьI would like to clarify for once that all given the same (pressure plate pressure, puck material, puck sizes, and disc diameter) a 3 or 4 puck disc has more theoretical torque capacity than a 6 puck disc.
ОтветитьI know this is an older video, but does anyone have any input regarding OEM ratcheting and Aftermarket Ratcheting vs Non ratcheting clutches?
ОтветитьThank you 😊
“ I watch damn near every video that pops up “
I only have one negative thing to say, and it is ⚙️ to the watchers!
“ RTFM 😑 “
And with that, he never put that clutch down ever again
Ответитьare clutches universal?
Ответитьi have the same one worked so well couldnt shift at all
ОтветитьWow! Thank you this video was extremely useful!
ОтветитьWouldn't you technically get max grip with the material when it's brand new? It seems like the more it's used, the more material gets embedded into the rough texture of the surface on the material so it becomes less efficient at hooking into the flywheel surface. Kind of how sandpaper gets less efficient when the material you're sanding down gets embedded into the sandpaper causing a smoother surface finish.
ОтветитьHi! Im pretty late. But im asking if it's worth to swap my oem clutch to a better one. I found this "SPEC 26 spline TKO stage 3 clutch" and wondering if it is worth paying $370 for it. (1995 mustang GT)
ОтветитьPerfect vid
ОтветитьEvery time I think I can't learn anything else, you teach me something new
ОтветитьI couldn't quite understand this before but this video really came in clutch
ОтветитьWhat is a clutch?
ОтветитьHey Jason,
Another great video.
Would it interest you that some of us are wondering if you would consider talking about the QuickShifter and AutoBlipper technologies in modern motorcycles? Some of the stuffs in your channel are directly transferrable to Motorcycles but bikes have their own quirkiness.
How can someone know how much more power can an OEM clutch take. Some said that after remapping the engine the clutch went out a lot sooner.
ОтветитьWhat would recommend for daily driver with high HP and Torque? I heard that twin disk are noisy?
ОтветитьIs it going to change the feeling of a OEM clutch a lot?(Harder, more difficult to drive)
Ответить"So get your bearings together" 😂😂😂
ОтветитьI came with questions, I left with answers. Subbed
ОтветитьThanks, this pretty much confirms that I bought a car with a aftermarket clutch.
ОтветитьI know this video is old... But hopefully I can get a decent answer. I have a 2011 Jeep Patriot. I have gone through 3 clutches. I'm on my 4th. They are known for clutch issues. I have been debating on buying a Stage 1 or 2 clutch for it if this one goes out again. Would it be better? Last longer? I'm used to turbo cars that I've had in the past. This is my family car. I just need a clutch to last longer than a 6 months to a Year. I've been driving a manual all my life, I've never had to replace a clutch this much before. I've already spent $15,000 on it. Too late to turn back now. I've had it for 4 years. Good reliable vehicle except for the clutch problems. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Excellent video. I myself just got a stage 3 clutch (6 puck) for my Z, and everything you described is what I experienced driving with it for the first time.
Yes, it's a little harder to engage smoothly from a complete stop in 1st gear... even 2nd gear gets touchy at times. So i recognize i have a narrower "sweet spot" for releasing the clutch, and like you said, slightly higher RPMs have mitigated the "first gear shimmies," if you will.
I'm still breaking the clutch in, so I haven't gone too hard with it ye. But I expect to be rewarded when it's time to push it around some winding roads. Better shifts, more responsiveness and torque upon shifting, less wear under harsh conditions because it can handle higher temperatures.
Let's hope so anyway... ;)
Thanks for another great vid.
What’s the difference with stage 1,2,&3
ОтветитьI have a 05 350z and I just put in a stage two 6 puck clutch. I do get chattering when I’m engaging 1st gear or reverse. Will it go away over time or will I adapt too it?
ОтветитьYour way of explaining is incredibly awesome. One more thing I never understanded before I do now understand! Thanks!
ОтветитьWhat is the difference between a sprung and an unsprung clutch disk? When putting in a performance clutch, is it okay to reuse stock flywheel or should it be replaced?
ОтветитьOkay I’m looking to use my Lancer equippe as a hillclimb car, I’m wondering what parts I should upgrade to make it more durable
ОтветитьI feel like he’s a young Gale Banks
ОтветитьAbsolutely love how you explain things. Makes it so much easier to understand! Videos are helping a lot of people out keep it going
ОтветитьJason, could you provide any information you have to the downsides of a single mass flywheel in terms of component damage to the drivetrain, gears, etc? and if I'm upgrading to something like a stage 2 or 3 clutch, is it completely senseless to stick with the stock OEM dual mass flywheel? trying to order soon as clutch is slipping hard on the n55 and needs replacing asap. Any help would be awesome.
Ответитьawesome video bro, keep it up. thank you
ОтветитьBruh, carbon clutch you can beat the shii out of and drive away compared to a stock clutch will fault. Simple right lol 😂
ОтветитьYou are the boss. YOur videos are so informative. What are the springs in the clutch plate for?
ОтветитьLose the wig, kid...
Ответитьin a dual clutch transmision which clutch is better to be used: a performance or a casual one?
also does anyone knows a good website or book to design clutches?
Do performance clutches reduce rev hang when shifting into higher gears? I’m looking to upgrade the OEM ‘13 BRZ’s clutch, and I’m thinking about putting in an Exedy Stage 4 clutch.
Ответитьwould a performance clutch kit engage lower than OEM?
ОтветитьDo I need to replace my flywheel when installing a performance clutch?
ОтветитьI have a question. When did diaphragm style pressure plates become so favorable?
There used to be 3 main styles of pressure plates back in the 70’s.
Borg and Beck (GM vehicles), Ford Long Style (Ford) and Diaphragm which was used by everyone.
Diaphragm was the smoothest and most tame. Borg and Beck had 3 short and wide arms that contacted the throwout bearing. Long style had 3 long and narrow arms.
Long Style was the better of the 3 styles. Nobody used diaphragm style on hot rods. Borg and Beck was the most popular.
I had a big block Chevy back then and I custom ordered a Ford Long Style pressure plate from Weber clutches. It worked amazing.
I was in high school at the time and chose that style after reading a comparison article in a hot rod magazine which explained because of the added leverage of the long Style, you could run a stronger clutch spring and push the pedal easier.
So what changed? I’m guessing the popularity of automatic transmissions in V-8 automobiles?
