Your enthusiasm for improving the quality of life for those with epilepsy, including PNES, is inspiring Doctor.

I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico where we have a teaching hospital at the University of New Mexico. And their neurology department is terrible, in all honesty.

They never provided the results of my EEG results to my neurologist following a suspected hemiplegic migraine which included a seizure. The EEG was in 2022!!

I am planning to make an appointment with you as you are in my insurance network and I am absolutely thrilled to see a medical professional so enthusiastic in helping his patients. Your help can potentially change my life and getting to Detroit to consult with you will be worth every penny.

My doctor has diagnosed me with partial complex seizures even though my 6 EEG tests have all come normal. He claims that I have abnormal electrical activity in the deep brain regions, although I am skeptical due to the clear testing. I have episodes of restlessness, anxiety and twitching of my facial muscles for 6-7hours every once in 3 days. Do you think that I should be on anti elliptic drugs? Should I trust my doctors treatment?

Hi I have refractory generalized epilepsy diagnosed at 13 I'm 31 now. I've tried 6 medications had VNS implanted in 2014. My doctor told me I qualified for dbs but then said I don't qualify for the surgery because I have VNS? And in order to be eligible for the surgery I have to have the VNS turned off for 2 months. Why is that?

Does stress cause or trigger an epilyptic seizure?
I have had seizures when I was 2, and I didn't know if it was Rasmussen epilepsy or if it was encephalitis. Through the grace of God i pulled thru.
After I had two children, I was inbed was waking up, and my daughter was on her phone. I don't know if that had anything to do with the seizures that occurred. But then, it happened again when I was under stress and there were flashing lights around.
I notice that has been the case for the past few seizures. Luckily, i have been on medicines, and they have worked.
But my question is, does stress trigger or cause seizures??? Do you think surgery would be of help? My husband isn't a positive figure in my life right now. I needed him to be willing to be here for me, and he wasn't willing to do that. He wanted to go help his dad and his mom and sister with their health problems. So i need to know how to get along by myself.

Thank you for all you do and the research all of you are involved in. If you haven’t discussed it or found out already can you find out and explain why small seizures cause such an emotional imbalance afterwards? The seizure itself is scary but not I’m struggling more with how to stay calm after it’s gone when my emotions feel like I have no control almost worse than a panic attack. I am so thankful for people out there like you. Words can’t describe how much of a difference you make. It’s hard enough but people like you are our light in this dark tunnel helping us.

Watching this from Florida in the United States. I have no clue what caused my seizures, all I know is that the neurologist at the hospital ran all kinds of tests. I saw a neurologist at the hospital and I've seen a neurologist once and She did not impress me.
I don't like these drugs they prescribed, way too many side effects. It doesn't feel good. The EEG done in the hospital showed seizure activity. I don't know if this is related, but I had a concussion on my the left side of my head when I was 16 years old. I was involved in an auto accident in 1975, could that be why I'm all of a sudden suffering seizures? Dilantin seems to keep me awake.
Thank you for your channel, I'm supposed to see my neurologist on December 11, but like I said, I'm not crazy about her on my first impression. My oncologist told me her interpretation of the MRI she said I have a small brain blood blister. This is all so confusing. I just want to get better and I want to drive without fear!

VNS has been done on me, but it doesn't TOTALLY control the seizures. When I have a seizure it is very short. Doesn't even last more than one minute. Usually around 10 to 15 seconds only. I still have to take medications: Briviact and Vimpat. It has caused vocal cord paraylaze. (spelling?) I can still talk just fine, so it is not bad. Just have to watch closely for years to see if I will need to end up having surgery on my vocal cords.

Hi dr. Danonun and thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have focal (that spread to generalized) seizures. I am 36 and i had 5 episodes in all my life. All the episodes happened in the same way: I wake up early in the morning with a terrible cramp in my right hand: I scream because of the pain and in seconds I faint. After this, I have seizures and after that I look very scared and apparently even aggressive (I look to be conscious and tend to be aggressive even with my parents and my family doctor, but I have no memory of this phase). Then I get conscious again. The first one happened like almost 4 years ago; then I had other 2 before getting hospitalized and been diagnosed. I'm taking Levetiracetam since then and for 3 years I had no episodes. Then, last may, during a flight, I was very tired because I had to "sleep" at the airport and I fell asleep on the airplane: I had a new episode, always in the same way. A few days ago it happened the same thing in the same way. It's been a few months since I'm taking a bit more of Levetiracetam and, in order to try to sleep calmly, I'm also taking Rivotril. I'm afraid that I became resistant to the pills, even if at this point I am not even sure I really have epilepsy. One last thing: since I was a child, I suffer from what I used to call "dizziness", that should be what they call "absence", but during these absence I am not actually absent. I understand what is happening, I just can't fully use my right hand. I have seen videos of people during absence and they don't look at all like me

I'm new to all this!!!! First onset of seizures in August, drugs have some serious side effects. Not liking my 1st neurologist.. thinking I need at the very least the video scan EEG, I have an EEG scheduled Nov 28. Why would a person suddenly develop seizures??? I have no idea what caused them. It seems that my seizure was clonic tonic initially, but now more of the blank stare, no loss of consciousness. This is all new to me. My neurologist explained nothing. Idont like having hallucinations which I think the seizure meds cause.
No one in my family has ever had a seizure
Where are you located? I think I need to see a neurosurgeon at the very least.
