Regarding the Penny items. Some stores won’t see you the item as they are marked at a penny to let employees know to clear the shelf. I myself have tried to purchase the penny item’s and was told no. They took the item and said that it needed to be recalled. So be careful

FYI… We were just informed by a Home Depot employee they’re changing their plant policy to 90 days but she didn’t say when that was happening.

I’m a member of the design team and I can easily say that regarding blindes ordering the in store blinds online and having them cut then saves you a good amount of money

unfortunately the cull lumber is usually the warped wood. It's not helpful unless you need small boards as half the wood is unusable. Still, could be helpful to some.

I am a penny deal winner. During the summer 2022 looking to purchase a new bathroom vanity faucet and after looking through the selection on the shelf found one at a decent price.strolled past the clearance shelf and saw a similar styled faucet at a lower price than the one I had in my cart. Grabbed the clearance faucet and off to pay and what a surprise at the register only 1¢. I actually think it was free because I did not have the penny but the person running the self checkout supplied the penny.

Menards has a better return policy, and has a kiosk to find receipts from your credit card.

I shop the clearance every single visit. I've saved a ton of money on future projects. Lowe's won't hold any clearance items. You must take it right then. Lowes started saying they will not help you load a clearance item. But I've purchased many items at lowes at 75% off. My friends get mad at the deals I find.
Occasionally I find a better price at Home Depot. I never find a good price on any rental tools for sale. Not sure if Home Depot is the same, but Lowes has a one year return policy on unused items if you charged it on a Lowes credit card.
Some stores have big lumber clearance sections, others don't. Many items are no longer discounted for military. Appliances and big purchases are no longer discounted. This has def curbed my purchases at stores.
I look for items that are being discontinued.
It never hurts to ask for a discount.
I don't divulge any of my other tricks or ways of getting discounts because it makes it to where everyone does it, then the stores stop allowing it. So it ruins me saving money.

My personal policy is to be nice to people & to never be rude (unless they are being rude or threatening). I always say "please" and "thank you" and try to treat people with respect. Sometimes a simple "thank you" can make a big difference in a person's day.
I've never seen the sort of discounts that were mentioned here. but maybe its bc my area sucks. I wish I'd known about the price-matching. I actually purchased a set where I got a miter saw and stand for a good price. They were mailed and the stand arrived but the miter saw never did. A label was made for it, but it never arrived. I got a partial discount on my order, but then needed to buy a different miter saw. The one I'd purchased was not in stock so I had to go with a more expensive one. I wish I had asked to get it for the same price as the other one due to the inconvenience. LOL. Miter saws! Arg!
I was in a store the other day and was looking for something that was supposed to be in stock. I went to where it was supposed to be and it wasn't there. I then ordered it online with the app. Then an employee came by and I asked about it. He went in the back and found it for me. I took it to the pickup desk and told them I had an employee find it for me and wanted to do pickup for it. Got it at the online price. My nearest homedepot takes HOURS to pull something so I have to find it and take it up to the desk to get it quickly.
I found out that once they are done with rental tools they sell them. We got a stump grinder pretty cheap that way. I wonder if they have ditch witch rentals...
HD also was good about refunding my $ when something I ordered that was mailed off was delivered to the wrong house. Fedex refused to admit they delivered it to the wrong place despite the fact that I showed them a picture of my house to compare to the picture of the trailer where they left it. It was left 1/4 mile down the street but recipients claimed they never got it. They are thieves though so they probably kept it or decided to sell it to someone. It was on sale when I bought it so the HD associate (via live chat) made sure I could order at the same price again and refunded the $ for the other order (once I sent pics of where it was delivered and what my house looks like). Did you know you can access their chat via google search?
I got some $50 paint for $13.50 from the returned/rejected paint section.
My nearest HD doesn't cut wood for customers.
The QR code to get military discount is so much easier than having to flag an employee down at self-checkout. Go to Account-> Military Discount, & scroll down to the QR code.

Why are you not doing dollar store anymore?

Hi, Deal Guy! 🙋🏼‍♀️ I often enthusiastically watch your other videos, but just discovered this HD video by accident. As always, well done!

I've worked as a Home Depot cashier for several.years and from you i just learned a couple things I didnt know. I do want to clarify 2 points you made, however:
1) Although cashiers do have the ability to reduce the price on a purchase, it still has to be justified and not simply because someone walks in and requests $50 off because they "saw on the internet" that we can do that; that fallicy has been posted on different sites for years.

And being nice to us doesnt get you discounts in itself, although we greatly appreciate it!! Being a difficult, rude, demanding, unpleasant customer will, however, generally get less favors in any store and in life in general, so yeah, be nice to employees everywhere!!!

2) The discounts for superficially damaged items, open packages, damaged boxes, holes in bags of concrete, mulch, pebbles, etc., have been tightened up out of necessity because far too many people would open a package, kick a dent in an appliance, poke a hole in a bag of mulch, etc and then bring it to the register expecting a price reduction.

I saw a reply you made to a comment which mentioned this problem, and you said something about there being many cameras in HD and that therefore it was a bad idea to rip a hole in a bag. Isn't it also simply WRONG?

More people than you'd think try that and we no longer give all those discounts so easily because of the seemingly endless ways people create to steal, scam, and perform acts of fraud against Home Depot and other stores.

Just an update on larger purchase from the pro desk. Its called the "bid room" and HD changed the minimum to $2000 now. Its still $1500 at Lowes and you always get 5% off for using your Lowes card. Im a contractor and still shop at both HD and Lowes. Would love if you can make a Lowes video like this. Thank you for your amazing content. 👏🏽

Home Depot has a suspiciously amorphous "in-store dog policy." Neither corporate nor store level will admit to exactly where in the company their dog policy is established. I.e., who is responsible? Important because...dog bites happen inside Home Depot stores; ignorant dog owners bring their large, aggressive breeds into the store, endangering the other customers; damages and liability for dog bites inside Home Depot stores can be substantial. Yet, official responsibility for their in-store dog policy can only be theoretically discovered in some court subpoena. Why is Home Depot so evasive?

That veteran discount is a way to stop most people not to use their discount. When you make something a hassle people won't bother. My dad doesn't have a phone that will even do that. He like many older veterans who aren't tech savvy, won't even do this. Instead my dad will go to Lowes first.

I can confirm #6, it happened to me with a lawnmower. The one that was on sale wasn’t there so I asked if they had anymore in the back. They immediately offered a better model for the same price. I left pretty happy.

my shopping hack is to ride into home depot on my bicycle with a black contractor bag, fill it up and ride out. Not sure if this works outside of california 🤔
