It doesnt create war, then why in the torah which is a scripture of "law" (thats still practised by christanity and islam but sacred to judaism) states that any man women child that does not follow the jewish faith should be killed and condemned.

Okay Father Mike. I gave a thumbs up, but the War in the Middle East really puts this question to the test for me. Anyway, it leads to a question I've had about War for a long time and one I hope you can address in a video. Wars are terrible and not what God wants and I know murder is against the Ten Commandments, but it seems that the church talks about Angels fighting Demons almost acknowledging and accepting combat as a necessity sometimes. Though War is wrong is it not necessary to take up arms sometimes to fight against violence perpetrated on others? Take the Jews, for example David and Goliath....etc. I appreciate any response to this as it weighs heavily on my mind. Thank you

Someone just accused me of being the cause of the wars in Israel. Yes, little old me in a small UK town is the cause. Because I have a faith, it’s all my fault. Wow, I guess I better hand myself over to the police then. I never realised I had that amount of power to cause a war that originated before I was even born! Atheists are more judgmental sometimes and more hypocritical because what they really believe is “unless you think the way I do, you’re a d*ck”. Wow, isn’t that the same thing they accuse us Christians of, yet they actually say the very same thing - unless we believe what they believe - we are the cause of wars. Religion is a breeding ground for idealogues who, if they were to convince themselves of a common enemy, would mobilize in the name of their religion. But this "my god, my chosen people, my land god gave me" stuff are exactly the things people shouldnt fight for because the reason is far too simplistic. How would you feel if someone diaplaced you from your home because of some god given right to that land?

Christians should not dismiss the bloodshed that the church has caused over the years. 2 Million casualties from the French Wars of Religion, another 2 million in the 80 Years War, 8 million from the 30 Years War. All Religious conflicts. That's just the span from the 1560's to 1648. We have to own the sin of war that the church has been complicit in.

As an "atheist" (a title I have issue with) I have to agree. Wars primarily are fought over territory and resources . Yes a leader may motivate his troops with the fact the enemy is of another faith, however these leaders will use ANY reason they can think of to motivate their armies. MANY wars have been fought between groups of the same religion, with the same goal, territory and resources or just power.

Thank you Father Mike. I am a believer in Jesus Christ. I love the Bible and read it almost daily. I am not a Catholic, but I do battle back and forth in my mind on whether to be one (usually during the several hours it takes to push mow the grass where my family and I live in the country). I have friends and family that are Catholic and Protestant. Your statement of the bad examples leading to the reputation of bad religion really hit home for me. I still don’t believe in praying for Mary and the saints to intercede for me, or the validity of a Pope. Not out of any ill will to Catholics, but out of not understanding. I pray that the Lord shows me the answer, but more importantly that He shapes me more into the image of His Son. God bless you Father.
